Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 371: Chapter 370: A Name Worth a Show [1 Update]

On the very night.

Shimen TV Station’s official website posted an advertisement

”Shimen TV Station teams up with Lu Xiaobu for a major singing talent show Hot Voice now open for registration!”

Below is the program introduction: No matter your looks, height, age, or occupation, as long as you have a great singing voice and a passion for music, come and apply! What are you waiting for?

Registration Phone One: 400-8XXXXXXX.

Registration Phone Two: 400-8XXXXXXX.

Contact: ”The Voice of Heavenly Dynasty” program team.

Well, it wasn’t Lu Xiaobu who asked for it to be posted, the program team took the initiative.

After all, doing nothing would be simply too boring.

However, it was pointless.

The ad was like adding a drop of water to the ocean, creating no splash, a perfect dive!

Full score!

Cough cough cough!

This made several members of the program team feel incredibly awkward.

But they were used to it, as their official website’s daily hits wouldn’t even match that of a D-list celebrity’s Weibo.

And at this time, Lu Xiaobu also posted a Weibo update.

”Uh, I, Young Master Bu, feel like listening to some songs, so I started a talent show. Those bored to tears can give it a try, um, I’m not listening to the voice... pff, I’m only listening to the voice, not looking at the appearance, height, age, or profession. Also, don’t bring me any sob stories, that’s all, for the phone number, find it yourself.”

Well, the most capricious program advertisement in history!

Yet it was such an arbitrary ad that sparked a heated discussion instantly.

Not for anything else, just for the name Lu Xiaobu.

”Lu Xiaobu is organizing a talent show?”

”And he’s not looking at the voice... pff, only at the voice?!”

”Bored to tears can give it a try?!”

”What the heck kind of advertisement is this?!”

”Also, is it really okay to not post the phone number? Where are we supposed to find it?!”

”Alright, I’ve found it. Shimen TV Station posted it; here’s a screenshot for you guys.”

”The name ’The Voice of Heavenly Dynasty’ sounds kinda tacky!”

As the discussion heated up, countless netizens flocked to watch!

Many from the TV industry were also paying close attention!

After all, this was the first time Lu Xiaobu had organized a talent show, and he was still as non-conventional as ever.

A Weibo-verified industry professional from Jingxi Province TV said:

”Irrespective of appearance? Profession? Age? Can a talent show even be done like this? Where’s the appeal?”

”It sounds a bit innovative, but if they really run a talent show like this, the program will struggle to get many viewers and will likely become a niche show that only garners a bit of a good reputation.”

”I predict the ratings won’t go over 0.4%!”

Well, this person was relatively courteous to Lu Xiaobu, not saying something too harsh. In reality, what they actually thought was—this crappy show paired with the crappy TV station, even 0.2% would be solely dependent on Lu Xiaobu’s name.

Another professional.

”Regardless of appearance and age? Isn’t this just a gimmick? No TV station would truly dare to defy the market laws of talent shows.”

”So at the end of the day, this program is just a traditional singing contest, no different from other singing shows.”

”I really don’t get it. With singing talent shows flooding everywhere, almost four or five launch each month, and everyone’s tired of watching them. It’s well-known that the ratings are suffering.”

”Does Lu Xiaobu think he can turn the entire market around by himself?!”

Some questioned: ”Given Lu Xiaobu’s style, he can’t be unaware of this. Could it really be like the introduction says, he wants to do a talent show that only listens to the voice?”

”That can’t be right!”

”Even if it were Lu Xiaobu, he wouldn’t dare do such a thing.”

”Who would watch a talent show that only judges voices?”

Most insiders from the television circle were quite pessimistic, similar to the reaction of the people at Shimen TV Station.

The netizens were also highly divided in opinion, but Lu Xiaobu’s hardcore fans unequivocally supported him.

”Support Lu Xiaobu!”

”Lu Xiaobu is a miracle maker!”

”Haha, looking forward to it!”

”Experience tells us, never ever question Lu Xiaobu’s god-tier planning, otherwise, when the dust settles, you’ll find your face has swollen!”

”Right, even though I don’t get the mystery behind ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Good Voice,’ I still support it unconditionally, no question.”

”Exactly, if not for anything else, just for the moment when Lu Xiaobu smacks the faces of those professionals! Hahahaha, just thinking about it gets me excited!”

However, many other netizens aren’t so optimistic.

”A talent show based solely on voice? Too niche!”

”Yeah, if the contestant is super ugly and only four feet six, even if they can sing well, no one is going to like them, right? Who would watch that? People want to see beauties!”

”Agreed, judging solely by the voice isn’t reliable, right?”

”I admit that a singer needs to have a good voice primarily, but looks are important too. After all, they need to be public figures, the kind that people would like at first sight, no?”

”Is Lu Xiaobu trying to revolutionize the traditional singing competition domain?”

”I agree with what the industry insider said earlier, judging only by voice is likely a gimmick, a bluff, a distraction. In reality, it’s the same old routine.”

”...”

The people at Shimen TV Station are feeling the headache.

They’re professionals, they of course know that whether it’s being cursed at or praised, stirring up a hot debate is the key.

But the ads they posted on their official website, utterly useless.

However, a willful Weibo post from Lu Xiaobu caused a sensation across the entire internet.

Damn it, they feel miserable inside, like crying!

...

Regarding these online discussions, even those cursing him, Lu Xiaobu is somewhat numb to them.

To be honest, he knows that no matter what you do, the world is never short of trolls.

No matter how well you do, it’s impossible to please everyone.

Just like some flop author, who still gets cursed at every day, cough cough cough!

So, what he needs to do is just to proceed and swell their faces, that’s it.

Of course, sometimes he would retort a bit, just to vent!

While he was cursing... err, I mean, chatting, the program team called.

”Young Master Bu, someone wants to buy the title and special sponsorship, and the price they’re offering is quite high, what do you think...”

The caller is Zhang Feng.

Just like they post ads on their official website, they’re not really going to do nothing, so they go out and make their own opportunities.

Finding sponsors is one of those things.

”How much?” Lu Xiaobu casually asked.

”For the title sponsorship, someone’s offering thirty million.”

Zhang Feng’s heart was trembling when he mentioned this number.

Too awesome!

When they went out to get ad placements in the past, they had to beg and flatter and sweet-talk everyone, and even then, they hardly made any money.

But this time, they went out for sponsorships without saying much, just mentioned Lu Xiaobu.

Done, the people replied directly - thirty million, I want the title sponsorship!

Is this the terrible influence of Lu Xiaobu?

You should know that even the hottest and continuously popular second season of ’Hot Voice’ only had a title sponsorship fee of fifty million.

But now, look at them.

These companies with deep pockets, not caring about the show, not knowing the planning, they don’t care about anything else, just for the name Lu Xiaobu, they’re ready to throw in thirty million.

Even then, they’re still competing for it.

They could offer more!

Those were their exact words.

”Are you sending off a beggar? Go away, all the special sponsorships and title are my company’s property.”

Lu Xiaobu said as he rolled his eyes.

You think thirty million can get you the title sponsorship of ’Good Voice’?!

You must be dreaming!

Young Master has already invested one hundred million!

Although Young Master doesn’t care about making money, even if by chance I made a loss, it would be on my own turf!

Of course, there’s absolutely no way I will lose money, that is!
