Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 368: Chapter 367 System Notification [4th Update for Star Appreciation]

The extensive media coverage this time has brought in a bountiful harvest for Lu Group.

After all, Lu Group is unified. When the cola sales go up, it’s impossible for other sales not to rise.

As a result, Lu Xiaobu’s position on the Rich List has climbed once again.

Adding to the continuous big news from the previous period,

this time, Lu Xiaobu’s ranking didn’t just creep up one by one.

Instead, he shot up directly to the tenth spot!

Top ten!

This is the top ten we’re talking about!

What does this represent?

It represents that Lu Xiaobu’s net worth has now reached around nine billion!

He’s now among the most elite of the Third Level Rich List.

”Lu Xiaobu is awesome! This rise was too fast!”

”I remember last year the Lu Family wasn’t even the richest in Shimen, right?”

”Yeah, it seems like it’s been a long time, but in fact, it’s been less than a year and Lu Group made it to the top ten of the Third Level Rich List!”

”I guess it’s only a matter of time before he becomes number one!”

”...”

Not just them, even the Wen Family Hall felt a huge sense of crisis upon seeing the rankings.

Lu Group is too strong, the Iron Cavalry is too strong, Lu Xiaobu is too strong.

Just look at how much money did Lu Xiaobu spend this time?

Merely fifty million.

To be honest, all of these top ten billionaires on the Rich List do philanthropy.

And they all give more than fifty million.

But guess what? Their media exposure is nowhere near that of Lu Group!

At most, they get mentioned a few times.

But when it comes to Lu Xiaobu, it’s blanket coverage by the news.

He couldn’t figure out why Lu Xiaobu was so special!?

Well, a new round of analysis started once again.

...

They can analyze all they want, but Lu Xiaobu doesn’t care about them.

”Host, got anything fun? I’ve been so bored lately!”

The system said, listlessly.

”Why can’t you just say what you want to do? Why beat around the bush?”

Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes and said.

”Hehe, um...”

The system chuckled awkwardly.

Got called out again.

He actually didn’t want to say it outright because right now, this is how they are.

Whoever speaks first ends up paying a price.

Look at the past few times, Lu Xiaobu had it find those famous quotes, and he managed to trick Lu Xiaobu.

He had planned to make Lu Xiaobu be the one to bring it up this time.

But he was seen through.

”Fine, I feel like listening to music. There has been nothing good recently, just the same old songs over and over.”

The system said, helplessly.

”Get to the point!”

Lu Xiaobu rolled his eyes.

”I want to watch ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Voice’.”

This time, the system got straight to the point.

”’Heavenly Dynasty’s Voice’? Easy, tell me, what’s in it for me?”

Lu Xiaobu started bargaining from his position.

He really thought he didn’t know that the system had tricked him before!

Now he had to get his revenge.

”Our relationship, you see...”

The system tried to weasel out.

”Get to the point.”

Lu Xiaobu said again.

”Okay, okay, okay, as usual, I’ll go get you something, definitely the good stuff, okay?”

The system said helplessly.

”Good, that’s settled then. Get me all the plans and stuff for The Voice, and I’ll take care of it!”

Lu Xiaobu agreed to the system’s condition.

In this regard, the system didn’t dare to fool him.

After all, they were in a partnership, and if it tricked him this time, then next time, hmph!

Since the decision was made, Lu Xiaobu didn’t dwell on it any longer.

”Sister Lan, get ready, we’re starting a talent show.”

Lu Xiaobu said to Liang Lan.

”A variety show?” Liang Lan was somewhat puzzled: ”Young Master, aren’t you the one who dislikes those stars who are all face and no substance the most?”

She was a bit confused about Xiaobu’s thoughts.

In her mind, so-called talent shows were essentially beauty contests.

Being beautiful was the only thing that mattered; the rest was fake, just a formality.

”What do you mean ’all face’? This time, we’re only looking for voices, we won’t care about the rest.”

Lu Xiaobu waved his hand and said.

”Only looking for voices?” Liang Lan was taken aback: ”How is that going to work!?”

”The competition format is similar to other traditional singing shows - first a general audition, then coaches pick their teams, followed by intra-team competitions and the finals; that’s roughly how it goes.”

Lu Xiaobu read from the plan provided by the system, wanting to see Liang Lan’s shocked expression, and then take the opportunity to... cough cough cough!

”But if you think the show is that simple, you’d be wrong.”

”The show follows a traditional format, but the core selling point is different.”

”When arranging the venue and equipment, the key is the coaches’ chairs.”

”During the blind auditions, the coaches’ chairs will face away from the stage; they won’t see the contestants.”

”The coaches won’t know if they’re tall, short, fat, thin, or even if they’re male or female; they can only hear their voices.”

”Contestants will be judged solely on their vocal talents, which is also the purpose behind the show’s name, ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Good Voice’!”

Yeah, he read it straight from the script.

Mainly because he was lying on Liang Lan’s lap, and even though she was used to his antics, it was still best not to be too bizarre.

So this time, he had the system give him a mind-version.

From what he had seen of Earth’s ”The Voice”, he believed Liang Lan would be absolutely thrilled after hearing it.

However...

”Uh... Young Master, are you serious? This isn’t like selling products where there will always be buyers; this is a talent show, it’s different.”

Liang Lan said tactfully.

She felt it wasn’t very feasible.

”Sister Lan, just speak frankly.”

Lu Xiaobu gestured for her to go on.

”Alright.” Liang Lan thought for a moment and then said: ”Young Master, this kind of talent show isn’t like running real businesses, it’s too focused on the show’s effect.”

”Just think, if the stage is filled with unremarkable-looking contestants, short, fat, etc., then clearly it will severely affect the show’s appeal.”

”The visual presentation would be destroyed. Why would the audience want to watch?”

”In my understanding, the bottom line for a talent show, to put it bluntly, is that you need contestants who are hot topics, people with outstanding looks and figure who can sing well to bolster the show’s presence.”

”Young Master, it’s not that I’m worried about other issues, I’m just concerned that because of this show, you’ll get criticized again, and that makes me uneasy. If Young Master wants to hear singing, we could just invite some stars to hold a concert!”

Liang Lan finished speaking.

She was speaking from the heart.

If it were face-to-face criticism, she could send Zhang Meng, or even step in herself to take care of the offender.

But this kind of criticism from the audience, they take advantage of anonymity, and it could be quite harsh.

She really didn’t want to see that.

”So essentially, you think if there are no pretty faces or sad stories, nobody will watch, right!?” Lu Xiaobu summed it up.

Lu Xiaobu also knew why Liang Lan said what she did.

He had met plenty of stars in this world.

This world was exactly like that; too few were famous purely for their acting or singing.

Without good looks, it was almost as if you had nothing!

”Yes,” Liang Lan nodded: ”That’s about what I mean.”

”Relax and go through with it! It’s definitely going to be a hit.” Lu Xiaobu asserted confidently.
