Prodigal System in the Flourishing City

Chapter 369: Chapter 368: Not Possible?! [5th Release, Extra for Xing Wan Reward]

Lu Xiaobu promptly dispatched Liang Lan for the arrangements.

However, producing a variety show is not that simple.

A variety of factors must be taken into account, particularly as it will be broadcast on television.

Consequently, after weighing pros and cons, Liang Lan opted for the simplest and most appropriate method.

That is to collaborate with a television station.

And the most suitable collaboration would naturally be with Shimen TV Station.

After all, it’s easier when it’s on one’s own turf.

After initial communications, the other party expressed a keen interest and requested to meet Young Master in person.

After consulting with Lu Xiaobu, he also gave his approval.

A television station is not personal property and cannot be handled too casually.

”President Lu, I have long admired you!”

The head of the TV station extended his hand.

Although young, Lu Xiaobu is Shimen’s definitive richest man and of equal standing.

”Young Master, this is Mr. Nie Lixin, the head of Shimen TV Station.”

Liang Lan introduced from the side.

”Hello, Mr. Nie.”

Lu Xiaobu also smiled and shook hands.

”I know Mr. Lu dislikes pleasantries, so let’s cut straight to the chase,” said Mr. Nie directly.

”Okay.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded.

Clearly, he is also straightforward, which suits Lu Xiaobu’s taste.

”Miss Liang mentioned that President Lu wants to create a talent show called ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Got Talent’?” Mr. Nie continued.

”That’s correct, what do you think?”

Nie Lixin didn’t beat around the bush, and neither did Lu Xiaobu.

”I’ll speak frankly, please don’t take offense, however, if President Lu just wants to play around, that’s fine. We can allocate a slot for broadcasting. But if President Lu truly wants to create a program, honestly, I’m not very optimistic.”

Lu Xiaobu: ”Because there are no handsome men or beautiful women? No tragic backgrounds?”

Mr. Nie gave a wry smile, as Lu Xiaobu was even more direct, ”It sounds crude, but that’s exactly right.”

Lu Xiaobu liked Mr. Nie’s nature and was happy to explain further.

”Why can’t talent shows escape the trope of handsome men and beautiful women?”

”This is just your industry’s mindset being stuck, caging yourselves. My ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Got Talent’ aims to do the opposite.”

”Contrarily, that’s exactly why audiences watch and love such shows. Moreover, I didn’t say handsome men and beautiful women are forbidden from performing on ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Got Talent’, did I?”

”If a contestant truly sings well, that’s naturally also acceptable, but on the ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Got Talent’ stage, the proportion of handsome men and beautiful women will be small. The majority will still be contestants with ordinary looks.”

Lu Xiaobu spoke leisurely.

Leaving Nie Lixin at a loss for words.

This President Lu is truly formidable, it seems the rumors out in the world really can’t be believed.

”To be honest, it’s still not enough.” Mr. Nie shook his head, ”It still can’t convince me.”

”Okay, let’s simplify it. Are these three words, ’Lu Xiaobu’, enough?” Lu Xiaobu crossed his arms on the table, ”Which variety show currently has the highest viewership?”

”Imperial TV’s ’Hot Voice’, also a talent show. It has a 0.8% viewership!” Mr. Nie said with a hint of envy.

Shimen TV Station has always struggled, unable to even dream of a 0.8% viewership.

The station’s goal has always been 0.3%; achieving a 0.3% viewership would be cause for celebration.

”Good, 0.8% it is! If it doesn’t reach 0.8%, I promise you one thing, anything goes.”

Lu Xiaobu stated bluntly.

Since explanations aren’t working, he wouldn’t bother explaining.

”Uh...” Mr. Nie was stunned for a moment, forcing a smile, ”President Lu, are you perhaps misunderstanding something about viewership ratings? This 0.8% may seem small, but it’s not! It represents a very large number of people.”

”No matter the amount! Just like that!” Lu Xiaobu insisted decisively, ”You produce it according to my idea, I’ll give you the viewership you want, and don’t worry about the rest. If my show doesn’t achieve it, I’ll promise you anything!”

”Um...”

Nie Lixin was deep in thought.

He was pondering whether to trust Lu Xiaobu.

To be honest, from his professional viewpoint, this show wouldn’t work!

This show completely goes against normal conventions.

To put it bluntly, it’s like when you watch an adult film for that ’thing’, and it doesn’t show it until the last three seconds, would you watch it then?

But still, those three words, ’Lu Xiaobu’, made him hesitate.

Lu Xiaobu had always been a miracle maker, could this time be a miracle too?!

Time was running out, and so was Lu Xiaobu’s patience.

”Forget it, Sister Lan, let’s find another TV station.” Lu Xiaobu stood up.

”President Lu, please wait!” Nie Lixin stood up, taking a deep breath, ”Alright, I agree! I’ll give you what you want, but besides your conditions, I want to add one more: if the first episode’s viewership is not impressive, I reserve the right to adjust its timeslot.”

He couldn’t possibly keep giving prime time to a low-rated show.

”Okay, it’s settled then,” said Lu Xiaobu nonchalantly.

Even though he wasn’t aware of what a 0.8% viewership actually meant, he believed ’Heavenly Dynasty’s Got Talent’ would shine in this world that had never seen such a show before!

Besides, stepping back ten thousand steps, it was only the system that wanted to watch it, so if it didn’t work out, he could just ask the system to compensate him!

”Alright! I’ll go mad with President Lu just this once,” said Nie Lixin, ”I’ll allocate the best of everything in my station to you.”

”Good, I’ll just take a look.”

Lu Xiaobu nodded.

Soon, personnel, settings, equipment, stages, and so on were all in place.

This was Mr. Nie pulling resources from various programs to support this venture.

Just as he said, he was ready to go mad with Lu Xiaobu.

At this moment, these people had more or less discontent on their faces.

”What’s the boss thinking?!”

”Is he making us form a new team?!”

”Seriously? My show is on the right track!”

”Yeah, and why was I called over with you?!”

”Aren’t you satisfied? Who are you showing off to?!”

”It’s just a little achievement, barely higher than mine by 0.01%, and you’re showing off?”

”So what if I am? My program’s at 0.18%, someone else’s at 0.17%, why shouldn’t I be proud?”

”...”

These were all the top talents of Shimen TV Station, naturally none conceded to the others.

Just a few words, and they were already squabbling.

Thankfully, everyone was mostly restrained and didn’t come to blows.

However, they hadn’t fought, but their dissatisfaction with the person who gathered them began to grow.

Mixing them up and not showing up yet, making them wait!

Wasn’t this just looking for trouble?

They would definitely need to vent their anger soon!
