Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Fatty Fan’s three hundred pounds of fat was instantly covered with a layer of golden light, like an angry Vajra.

The massive body charged at Bai Anhai like a cannonball, making the ground tremble with each step.

This was a Second Rank peak Gold Ability User.

Bai Anhai looked at his furious appearance and found it somewhat amusing.

No idea when this person became so confident, just a Second Rank Superpower User, daring to be so arrogant!

Actually, it’s not that Second Rank Superpower Users are arrogant, it’s just that Bai Anhai has encountered mostly High Rank Superpower Users, either base commanders or Zombie Kings.

Besides Bai Yifan, everyone in the Bai Family are High Rank Superpower Users.

They have no idea how difficult it is for ordinary people to upgrade their superpower rank.

In ordinary small safety bases, a Second Rank peak superpower user is already considered a high-level presence.

Bai Anhai clenched his fist, feeling that his fist was powerful.

He wasn’t a Gold Ability User, so confronting it head-on was not possible.

But he was a Fourth Rank Thunder and Fire Dual Ability User!

Faced with the Taowu, it was like scratching an itch.

In front of this fatty...

Bai Anhai calmly stood still, purple lightning spilling from his fingertips, and without hesitation, he threw it at Fatty Fan.

Meanwhile, Wang Lu quickly retreated, shaking his head slightly while watching Fatty Fan charge at Bai Anhai.

Forget it.

Such teammates are better left be.

”Ah――”

A sound like a pig being slaughtered came from Fatty Fan.

”You all better not learn from them, otherwise you won’t know how you died, daring to provoke the Bai Family.”

Wang Lu turned away, not looking at Fatty Fan’s miserable state, instead turning to speak with the grandfather and grandson.

The grandfather and grandson were named Yao Qiao and Yao Bei, but Wang Lu didn’t know what abilities they possessed.

All he knew was that the fatty and the skinny ones seemed very afraid of them.

Mr. Yao looked at Bai Anhai, who was wrapped in purple lightning, and a glimmer appeared in his cloudy eyes.

A high-grade Thunder Core.

Yao Qiao and his grandson Yao Bei exchanged glances, seeing the green light in each other’s eyes.

The reason they came here was because their clients, the butcher, cook, and contractor, had strong abilities because they absorbed human crystal cores.

Usually, they also looked out for good crystal cores from other safety bases to absorb.

Having absorbed many human crystal cores, they could tell just by looking at the superpower used by a Superpower User whether the crystal core in their head was pure or not.

The purer the core, the fewer impurities it contained, and the easier it was to absorb.

This was the first time he had seen someone use such pure Thunder Ability!

The purple lightning was eerily seductive, incomparable to other Fourth Rank Thunder Ability Users he had seen before.

”Young friend, the fatty has been punished, and the skinny one has half a life left; they just have foul mouths. Why not leave them a way out?”

Old Yao unsteadily walked up to Bai Anhai, slightly cupping his hands towards him, adopting a humble stance.

When Mr. Yao approached, Bai Anhai instinctively took a step back.

Afraid the old man with a lifeless look was coming to scam him.

”Uh...”

At this time, the fatty was already lying on the ground, burned black, twitching occasionally, looking on the verge of death.

Such severe injuries, without medical equipment and various antibiotics, surviving wouldn’t be easy.

In the scorching weather, wounds easily get infected, internal injuries are hard to heal, and the conditions are not right for recovery.

”This is a one-time thing, don’t let me see you again, every time I see you, I’ll beat you once!”

Bai Anhai looked coolly at the fatty lying on the ground, feeling not quite satisfied, and gave both the fatty and the skinny one a kick.

”Brother Bai, don’t take it to heart, next time we meet, I’ll definitely make amends!”

Wang Lu looked a bit embarrassed.

After all, he was teammates with these two; he couldn’t be completely absolved of responsibility.

”When making friends, you must keep your eyes open.”

Bai Anhai said only this before leaving with Bai Xiqin and the others.

Wang Lu paused, then a bitter smile appeared on his face.

Perhaps only the Bai Family considered him an ordinary friend!

Being with these people wasn’t about truly wanting to be friends, but simply not wanting to be alone.

His friends were few.

Alas, sometimes I even want to be bitten to death by zombies, not wanting to live anymore.

But thinking about the pork and green onion dumplings the Bai Family treated him to before, he found hope to live again.

Oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, tea, he really wanted to have them.

Wang Lu sighed, waving to Mr. Yao, ”I’m not returning to the Ming City Safety Base. You go back yourselves! I’m quitting the Gale Squad.”

After saying this, Wang Lu left without looking back.

”Roar――”

In the distance, came the howls of zombies.

The blood from the Skinny Monkey and Fatty Fan had attracted zombies from nearby.

In this sparsely populated area, there were few zombies, but this slight blood scent could draw a few zombies out from the wilderness.

Zombies seem to have a keen sense of smell.

”Grandfather, should we chase after him?”

Yao Bei glanced at Wang Lu’s back, his eyes flickering slightly.

”Leave it, there’s time in the future, for now, let’s head back to the base.”

Old Yao effortlessly bent down to pick up the over three hundred pounds Fatty Fan, as if lifting a chick.

His dry body was already in the twilight of its years, yet his strength surpassed that of a young man.

Yao Bei, unaffected by what he saw, nodded and disdainfully glanced at the blood-soaked Skinny Monkey, somewhat reluctant to carry him.

Old Yao’s cloudy gaze lingered on him for a moment, and Yao Bei sighed helplessly, enduring his disgust, carrying the Skinny Monkey on his back.

The sticky blood immediately dripped onto him, causing him to frown unwillingly.

His brows knitted tightly together, wrinkles squeezed out, looking like a stubborn little old man.

”Let’s go!”

Mr. Yao glanced back at the approaching zombies and strode toward the safety base.

Where he walked, the ground left behind a pit.

Fatty Fan’s large figure on his back nearly completely obscured him.

The grandfather and grandson, though walking, moved no slower than running zombies, quickly shaking them off and escaping their pursuit.

An hour later, the grandfather and grandson drove a rusty car, which they found who knows where, quickly reaching the Ming City Safety Base.

By this time, Fatty Fan had come to, barely waking up.

”Water...”

Fatty Fan kept opening his mouth, his voice tinged with a bit of pleading.

Under the scorching heat, having lost so much blood, his mouth felt as dry as if it would burst into flames.

”Alright, I’ll get you water right away.”

Mr. Yao chuckled, pulling a dagger from his thigh and, in Fatty Fan’s shocked gaze, stabbed it straight into his heart.

With a squelch, clean and efficient.

Blood gushed out.

Similarly, with a clean and efficient motion, Skinny Monkey, still unconscious, was swiftly stabbed through the heart by Mr. Yao.

”Grandfather, why did you...?”

Yao Bei asked, puzzled.

”They should be people from the Yunhua Safety Base. Yunhua Safety Base recently got a windfall; with large numbers of crystal cores flowing in, using the fatty’s death as leverage might just cause a conflict between the Ming City and Yunhua bases.” Mr. Yao replied.

”But Yunhua Safety Base has Base Commander Leng—people wouldn’t be that foolish,” Yao Bei said, feeling unconvinced.

”Don’t worry, this time they will be.”

Mr. Yao showed a sinister smile as a plan instantly formed.
