Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

The rotting fingers rubbed back and forth on the chopsticks, turning them completely black with the dark blood.

The black blood dripped down the chopsticks onto the plate, staining the meat on the plate much darker.

The inflexible fingers clumsily tried to mimic Bai Xiqin in picking up the mutton from their plate, but couldn’t manage to do so.

”Roar... roar...”

The Xiao Lan Zombie let out a suppressed growl from its throat, the sound growing increasingly agitated.

A piece of mutton was poked into several pieces by the chopsticks, almost turning into mince.

”Slow down, like this,”

Bai Xiqin patiently demonstrated again, allowing the Xiao Lan Zombie to clearly see Bai Xiqin’s actions.

The stark contrast between Bai Xiqin’s pale fingers and the Xiao Lan Zombie’s fingers full of rotten flesh made the Song Family’s hearts ache once more.

The Xiao Lan Zombie’s decaying eyes slowly fixed on Bai Xiqin’s fingers, continuously letting out low growls.

Though the fingers appeared increasingly angry, they clumsily began to correct their behavior bit by bit.

After nearly ten minutes, the Xiao Lan Zombie finally managed to pick up a piece of mutton with trembling hands and eagerly sent it to its mouth.

Stuffing the chopsticks into its mouth along with the meat.

With a crunch, the chopsticks were bitten in half.

The mutton mixed with the chopsticks entered the Xiao Lan Zombie’s stomach together.

”Chopsticks are not for eating, Wenwen, we shouldn’t do this in the future, it’ll lead to indigestion,”

With a tender voice, Song’s mother looked at the expressionless Xiao Lan Zombie chewing on chopsticks.

The Xiao Lan Zombie ignored Song’s mother, instead staring directly at Bai Xiqin.

As if waiting for her praise.

”You did very well, it’s just that chopsticks are really not food,”

Bai Xiqin reached out and gently patted the Xiao Lan Zombie’s rather fluffy bangs, a faint smile on her face.

The Xiao Lan Zombie’s decaying pupils slightly enlarged, bending ever so slightly, seeming quite pleased.

It even moved a little closer in Bai Xiqin’s direction.

It was evident that the Xiao Lan Zombie felt differently about Bai Xiqin than about others.

”Xiao Niu, can you... help teach Wenwen to absorb the Crystal Core?”

As Song Hongfei said this, he had already taken out a wooden box of Crystal Cores and placed it on the table, eyes fixated on Bai Xiqin, fearing she might refuse.

Once a business mogul, now with pleading eyes for his daughter, an expression he had never shown before.

Not only Song Hongfei, but also Song’s mother and Song Ning had a glimmer of hope on their faces.

It appeared that the Xiao Lan Zombie listened most to Xiao Niu these days.

Their family had tried teaching for several days, yet Wenwen hadn’t learned to absorb the Crystal Core. If Xiao Niu agreed to help teach, it would surely be successful.

”I can try, although it might not be easy for us to communicate, I can attempt it,”

Bai Xiqin picked up a Crystal Core and placed it into the Xiao Lan Zombie’s hand.

Truth be told, she wasn’t well-versed in teaching the Xiao Lan Zombie to absorb the Crystal Core, and communication was limited for the Xiao Lan Zombie.

The best way was for the Zombie King to teach the Xiao Lan Zombie how to absorb the Crystal Core, as they could communicate through brain waves, which would quickly help the Xiao Lan Zombie understand how to absorb it.

Brain waves?

A thought suddenly occurred to Bai Xiqin.

The state she had been in for two or three days was a peculiar one; she couldn’t discern whether she existed in a soul form or a brain wave form.

If she had another ”out-of-body experience,” might she be able to communicate with the Xiao Lan Zombie?

Bai Xiqin was momentarily stunned.

”Bang, bang, bang!”

As Bai Xiqin was in a daze, a knocking sound came from outside.

The knock was urgent, sounding unfriendly.

Song Ning immediately stood up, took a peek outside through the peephole, then looked grimly at Song Hongfei and Song’s mother.

It’s Song Kerou, quickly hide Xian Wenwen.

Song Ning’s mouth and expression showed that whoever had arrived disturbed him greatly.

Song’s mother quickly opened a room, and Bai Xiqin immediately understood, pulling the Xiao Lan Zombie by the arm and heading inside the room.

Song Hongfei hurriedly tidied the cushions on the sofa, placing them and the blood-stained plate in the cabinet and locking it with a code.

In less than a minute, the living room was clean once again, making it hard to imagine that a common zombie lived here.

Leng Yebai followed Bai Xiqin, wanting to enter the room with her.

”Stay in the living room, don’t come in, and don’t let anyone else in,”

Bai Xiqin pushed Leng Yebai out; she wanted to secretly test her own hypothesis.

Leng Yebai pursed his thin lips, glancing at the Xiao Lan Zombie who was very close to Bai Xiqin, emitting an aura of coldness.

The Xiao Lan Zombie looked confused at the cold aura exuded by Leng Yebai, quietly moving a bit closer to Bai Xiqin.

”Don’t let her get so close to you,” Leng Yebai whispered.

Bai Xiqin rolled her eyes in exasperation, thinking Leng Yebai was overly sensitive.

The Xiao Lan Zombie only liked eating and wearing pretty clothes; what would she understand?

Besides, she was still a girl!

It seemed the Xiao Lan Zombie understood Leng Yebai’s words and nudged even closer to Bai Xiqin, its rotting fingers even resting on her shoulder.

Its expression remained blank and vacant.

Harmless as a dove.

Leng Yebai: ...

Leng Yebai wanted to say something, but Song’s mother had already closed the door, leaving Bai Xiqin and the Xiao Lan Zombie alone in the room.

Perhaps with only Bai Xiqin there, the Xiao Lan Zombie wouldn’t start randomly growling.

Simultaneously, Song Ning turned on the speakers in the living room, in case the Xiao Lan Zombie suddenly roared, it wouldn’t be noticed.

Bai Xiqin pulled the Xiao Lan Zombie to sit on the bed, then sat cross-legged herself in front of it.

The Xiao Lan Zombie still clutched a Crystal Core in its hand, staring expectantly at Bai Xiqin without moving.

Bai Xiqin closed her eyes, then carefully felt her brain.

Imagining the feeling of her ”soul” in space at that time.

Emptying her thoughts...

She could feel a fierce yet friendly emotion from the opposite side, and she tried to communicate with that energy using the energy of the Crystal Core in her mind, but it wasn’t working as intended.

Bai Xiqin didn’t give up, letting her conscious mind take the lead in her brain, continuing to feel the magical state she once experienced.

In the living room.

The knocking continued, and the Song Family exchanged glances, seeing the tension and helplessness on one another’s faces.

They truly didn’t want to open the door, but Song Kerou was too cunning. If they didn’t open it, who knows what trouble she’d cause next.

Opening the door, however, brought the risk of exposing Wenwen.

Thankfully, Bai Xiqin was here today, and Wenwen listened to her, so she probably wouldn’t let out a roar.

”Open the door! Mom, Dad!”

Song Kerou’s voice sounded somewhat feeble, but her eyes nearly spat fire.

She had smelled the rich scent of meat from inside, and her stomach screamed for it, having gone without meat for a long time.

To taste meat again, Song Kerou could only make herself appear as a pitiful, abandoned child.

She had resolved to make the Song Family accept her.

The charred-looking dark skin on her face left by Leng Yebai had disappeared, now covered with a thick foundation, presenting a pitiful and fragile image.

She had changed into a blue dress, the style Song Wenwen loved the most.

She believed that by appearing so pitiable, the Song Family would surely dot her as they did Song Wenwen.
