Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

”When grass grows on your grave.”

Bai Xiqin glanced coolly at Taowu.

Without any extra expression, just one look, scared Taowu into lying silently on the ground, burying his face beneath his heavy paws.

Master is too terrifying.

Even though it can take a beating, it still feels like the master could kill it.

Taowu still doesn’t understand why just asking the master when his family became so good-looking made him so angry!

”Roar...”

Chao Yan suddenly let out a slight whimper, though the sound was still the roar of a zombie.

It doesn’t feel full, always wanting to swallow everything into its stomach, even though its belly is swollen, the zombie’s stomach still craves flesh and blood as usual.

At this moment, the female zombie had already pulled her bony fingers out of Chao Yan’s mouth, causing Chao Yan to growl softly with dissatisfaction.

Perhaps the female zombie soothed Chao Yan using brain waves, so Chao Yan did not react too strongly, keeping his eyes fixed on the female zombie while constantly licking his lips, black blood oozing from the corners of his mouth.

Unsatisfied.

”Is this considered living for them?”

Watching the zombie mother and daughter’s interaction, the Base Commander sighed slightly, feeling momentarily lost.

Turning living humans into zombies is truly a great challenge.

He keeps thinking if scientific progress can make zombies evolve to higher levels, or if he could turn the dead into a Zombie King, it would be when his wife comes out from the Ice Coffin.

But, deep down, does he want to see his wife as mindless as the female zombie?

No consciousness, accompanied by decay every day.

He would never despise his wife, but his clean-loving wife would surely be angry, right?

Base Commander slowly closed his eyes to stabilize his thoughts, then slowly opened them again.

Even so, he truly wants to see his vibrant wife again, just once.

”What are you thinking about!”

Leng Yebai’s cold voice suddenly rang in the Base Commander’s ear.

While thinking about his wife, sudden words from Leng Yebai made the Base Commander slightly tremble.

Like someone about to commit a crime suddenly caught.

”Nothing, just thinking now that the dead have revived, will those buried but not yet decayed also come back to life, will someone open their coffins, or nail two more nails.”

The Base Commander’s voice was somewhat distant.

Leng Yebai’s eyes flickered slightly upon hearing the Base Commander’s words.

”That depends on what the person standing before the grave thinks,” Leng Yebai gazed steadily into the Base Commander’s eyes and said, ”You can’t just disturb those who are already resting peacefully!”

The Base Commander smiled faintly, not showing much emotion toward Leng Yebai’s words.

As if he did not understand what Leng Yebai meant.

Escape.

”Today’s weather is pretty good, not as hot as yesterday, just right for a picnic. This is the first time in over twenty years I’ve gone on an outing with family, and although we encountered many strange things, I am happy.” The Base Commander said seriously.

His life has been too lonely.

Loneliness is the most pleasant term for him; before finding Leng Yebai, he was always trapped in self-blame and regret.

Family is the hardest to let go for the Base Commander.

Leng Yebai heard the subtext in the Base Commander’s words. He said nothing more, his eyes focusing on Chao Yan and the zombie mother and child.

Seeing Leng Yebai’s gaze suddenly land on the zombie mother and child, the Base Commander understood his meaning.

Leng Yebai was reminding the Base Commander that even the slightest carelessness means a new torment for those who passed away.

”Look over there, it seems they’ve started using tools!”

At this moment, Bai Xiqin suddenly discovered something new.

Amidst a heap of chaotic bones, there were one or two stones that looked quite sharp.

The sharp part of the stones had a thick layer of patina formed from dried blood.

Bai Xiqin glanced at the chaotic bones, noticing several bones that were smashed by stones.

”Does this... resemble the human Stone Age?”

Bai Xiqin pointed at the bones sucked free of marrow, looking shocked.

There are so many ordinary zombies outside. Besides those High Rank Zombies with self-awareness, ordinary zombies have always been mindless, never utilizing tools to obtain flesh and blood.

They only use their claws and teeth to tear apart prey, wishing to swallow everything into their stomachs.

Yet this female zombie, without absorbing Crystal Cores, seemed to have taken an entirely different evolution path from those ordinary zombies outside.

”Perhaps having Chao Yan makes it different from ordinary zombies.”

Leng Yebai squatted on the ground, carefully observing the disarray of bones, his voice somewhat heavy.

If more zombies capable of reproduction emerge, such beings could truly count as a new species on Earth, never to be completely exterminated.

They are more cold-resistant, communicate using brain waves, and as long as their heads stay intact, they could live forever.

Such a species... how despairing it must be for humanity.

”Zombies have emotions too, whether Zombie King or ordinary zombie, all are like this.” Bai Xiqin remained silent.

In truth, she really hopes for the apocalypse to end quickly, for an antidote to be developed, so everyone won’t have to fear infection by zombie virus anymore.

It’s just...

”Let’s go!” Leng Yebai stood up, no longer observing the place where the zombie mother and child lived, softly said, ”It’s time for lunch.”

Staying longer here would only uncover more unique things about the zombie mother and child.

Such situations surely don’t only happen with Chao Yan and her mother, but with other zombies as well.

Globally, billions of zombies choose evolution paths more varied than humans, not to mention the many mysterious beings in the oceans.

Humanity seems increasingly insignificant.

Bai Xiqin and the others did not attack Chao Yan and her mother, and when leaving, the mutant willow tree did not assault them either.

They were like neighbors visiting a doorstep, coming, then leaving.

The female zombie held Chao Yan dazing at the direction Bai Xiqin and others left, neither roaring nor speaking.

Her decaying arm slowly raised Chao Yan, waving her toward Bai Xiqin and the others.

Its rotting brain remembers Bai Xiqin’s family helping name Chao Yan, assisting in the birth.

The rotting eyes finally fell on several gray, breathless rabbit carcasses on the ground.

These were meant for Bai Xiqin and the others, which they didn’t take upon leaving.

The female zombie stiffly bent down, using fingers exposed to white bone to pick up a rabbit, gobbling it down.

The bright red blood stimulated its taste buds, and the hungry stomach knew nothing of being full.

After gnawing halfway through one rabbit, the female zombie suddenly stopped, tossing the half-bloody rabbit to the ground.

Such behavior is rare.

Ordinary zombies never give up food beside their mouths, eating until their belly bursts.

The female zombie ignores the rabbit thrown to the ground, even while Chao Yan in her arms energetically waved his arm toward the rabbit corpse.

She stood holding Chao Yan, motionless.

Like an ordinary mother holding her child and leisurely sunbathing.

No one will know what goes on in a zombie’s mind, nor will anyone want to know.

If there are zombies nearby, they’d find the female zombie transmitting brain waves to Chao Yan.
