Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

”Quick, kill them! Kill them for me!”

Watching Bai Xiqin and the others’ fleeing backs, Wang Ge clutched his bleeding arm, his body full of aggression.

His eyes almost seemed to be ablaze, fixed intently on the Base Commander’s back.

”My obedient son, why run out of the laboratory and provoke such powerful people? Didn’t I tell you not to come out recently?”

Dean Wang glanced at the backs of the fleeing people, not instructing his subordinates or zombies to chase after them.

His slightly overweight body moved slowly, his expression indifferent, as he half-squatted on the ground, observing Wang Ge’s stormy eyes.

His face showed no emotional fluctuation, as if the person who lost an arm wasn’t his son.

”I told you, kill them!”

Wang Ge did not respond to Dean Wang’s words and ripped off the Sun Wukong mask on his face, tossing it to the ground, his expression distorted.

The Sun Wukong mask, stained with red blood, lay quietly on the soot-covered ground.

Under the pale moonlight, it looked somewhat desolate.

”Son, have you still not recognized your true identity?”

Dean Wang took out a bundle of gauze from his white coat, tossing it on Wang Ge’s body, his voice icy.

”Even though your father is just an ordinary person with no superpowers, he is the controller of the True God Research Institute. If you want to be the controller there, you’ll have to wait for me to die! Otherwise, you can never command me! You can only obey me unconditionally!”

Dean Wang’s words carried an unabashedly superior tone, not treating Wang Ge as his son at all.

Simply as a subordinate, an important experimental subject.

Listening to Dean Wang, Wang Ge clenched his sole hand tightly, a hint of green light flickering.

Wang Ge understood he couldn’t kill him.

Though it appeared no one was by Dean Wang’s side, in truth a few High Rank Zombies and High Rank Superpower Users were secretly protecting him—any attempt to act would mean death.

Even if he was Dean Wang’s son.

Precisely because of this, he had sought help from someone outside the True God Research Institute to kill Dean Wang.

Unexpectedly, he failed.

”Why don’t you kill them!”

Ultimately, Wang Ge didn’t act, his eyes glued to his empty arm, ”I was hurt by the Base Commander during a mission, why can’t you kill them!”

This was just an excuse; the supposed mission was merely a diversion, ostensibly to capture Bai Family members, but in reality, to win over the Base Commander.

”Ha, don’t you understand yet? If I hadn’t brought them over, you’d be dead today!” Dean Wang sneered, ”You only saw three High Rank Superpower Users, but there was a hidden presence you couldn’t see. If you chased them, it would end in mutual destruction!”

”Is it him!”

Wang Ge suddenly struck the Sun Wukong mask on the ground with his only hand, causing it to dent and become hideous.

Instantly, the thought of Zhang Yiming came to him, the Zombie Emperor who controlled zombies more skilfully than him.

Indeed, what the True God Research Institute prided itself on was controlling zombies.

But ultimately, it couldn’t match Zhang Yiming’s control prowess!

”Let’s go get your arm reattached!”

Dean Wang stood up and waved his hand, then walked in a certain direction.

Not once did he look back at Wang Ge.

To him, as long as Wang Ge was alive, it was enough, for the Crystal Core implanted in his brain was an immense labor of effort.

The legacy of Hua Tuo must not die.

Wang Ge gave Dean Wang a gloomy look as he was carried away by people in white coats.

Captain Zhu glanced calmly at his own wounds, hesitated slightly, and then followed the footsteps of the Wang father and son.

Many zombies did not follow the Wang father and son; a significant part suddenly became dazed, looking no different from ordinary zombies.

They appeared to be ordinary, but didn’t lick the blood on the ground from Wang Ge.

Instead, they fearfully bypassed Wang Ge’s blood and the monkey mask, ”wandering aimlessly.”

Wandering, yet monitoring.

The remaining people and zombies departed with Wang Ge and his father—silent companions, only footsteps could be heard.

Oppressive and lonely.

――

Leng Yebai carried the Base Commander, dragging Bai Xiqin, running all the way to the Safe Base.

The walls at the Safe Base, just recently collapsed, had been rebuilt by the Earth Ability Users, looking fairly solid.

There were more patrols; as Leng Yebai and the others approached the gate, someone came to open it.

”It’s the Base Commander! Is the Base Commander alright?”

The gatekeeper, Song Hongfei, ran over immediately upon seeing the Base Commander slumped on Leng Yebai’s shoulder.

”He’s fine! Just drunk!”

Leng Yebai left a sentence behind and walked away.

Song Hongfei: ?

Song Hongfei wanted to run over and inquire, but considering the night’s peculiarity, he kept vigilant, guarding the gate.

Avoiding any unexpected incidents.

Throughout, Leng Yebai tried unsuccessfully to shake off the Base Commander, but the commander clung stubbornly around Leng Yebai’s neck, refusing to let go.

Leng Yebai and Bai Xiqin could only escort the Base Commander back to his villa.

”Let go!”

Leng Yebai’s face darkened slightly.

Carrying all this way, really heavy.

The Base Commander didn’t speak, yet Leng Yebai felt the commander’s body trembling slightly on his back.

”Base Commander, we’re home.” Bai Xiqin looked at the Base Commander.

The commander hid his face, obscuring any expression.

The subtle rise and fall of his shoulders hinted at an unusual mood.

Bai Xiqin glanced at Leng Yebai’s leg, slowly seeping red blood, and understood immediately.

The Base Commander feared Leng Yebai would turn into a zombie!

Just as Bai Xiqin was about to speak, the Base Commander’s muffled voice came from Leng Yebai’s back.

”Daughter, go home and rest! I know how to handle it shortly, I’ll give you the Crystal Core as a memento tomorrow.”

The commander’s voice was stuffy, a slight tremor towards the end.

Like a wealthy man suddenly stripped of everything.

”What Crystal Core?”

Bai Xiqin was a bit confused.

”Xiao Leng’s... Crystal Core.”

The Base Commander struggled to speak a few words.

He knew, his son was scratched by a zombie, would soon become a zombie, and then... he would carve out his son’s Crystal Core as a keepsake for his daughter-in-law.

Bai Xiqin: ...

Leng Yebai: ...

Bai Xiqin looked at Leng Yebai’s face, seeing it grow darker.

”If I turn into a zombie, can’t I live a little longer?”

Leng Yebai spoke through gritted teeth.

Initially, he doubted the Base Commander was truly his father, but now he fully believed.

Only a biological father would be like this!

”Uncle Leng, you don’t really think Xiao Leng will turn into a zombie, do you?” Bai Xiqin cautiously probed.

The Base Commander didn’t respond, merely tightening his grip around Leng Yebai.

Leng Yebai felt the Base Commander feared losing control after he becomes a zombie, wanting to seize fate’s throat.

Prepare to carve out his Crystal Core.

”You go quickly!”

The Base Commander’s voice echoed again, fingers constricting further, nearly suffocating Leng Yebai.

Leng Yebai had just resolved to toss off his ”benevolent father” when he felt a chill on his back.

A moist, sticky sensation.

The formidable Base Commander seemed to be crying.
