Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

”Ha! Don’t make any rash moves. Leave that person’s crystal core for now; someone will need it.”

With a Sun Wukong mask, Wang Ge’s expression was unreadable, and his voice carried an air of aloofness.

A faint chill emanated from him, yet there was no murderous intent, leaving his motives inscrutable.

Captain Zhu’s eyes flickered slightly upon hearing Wang Ge’s words, contemplating something unknown.

”Who is the person that needs this crystal core?”

Captain Zhu’s voice was emotionless. Ever since becoming a zombie, all of his emotions had vanished, replaced by a thirst for blood.

His personality grew colder, yet his obsessions never faded.

Even though Xiao Song Zombie turned him into a zombie, his sole obsession was to wrest Xiao Song from Zhang Yiming and turn it into the Zombie King.

Turning an ordinary zombie into the Zombie King was extremely difficult, and he hadn’t even managed to elevate Xiao Song Zombie into a High Rank Zombie.

By chance, he discovered an energy carrying death by the seaside. Though the energy’s releaser was human, the crystal core in her brain might directly transform an ordinary zombie into a powerful Zombie King.

This conclusion was drawn from repeated experiments in the lab of Wang Ge and his son.

Captain Zhu’s first reaction was that he must find this person and extract the crystal core for Xiao Song Zombie.

Yet, according to Wang Ge, he had other plans for this crystal core.

This displeased Captain Zhu, for the reason a Zombie King like himself sided with Wang Ge was to utilize their lab in hopes of making Xiao Song sentient.

If Wang Ge decided to give the crystal core to someone else, their partnership would have to end.

”Rest assured, what I promised you will come to fruition, only this crystal core must remain intact for now. It needs to be bait. Once successful, the crystal core will be yours.”

Knowing what Captain Zhu was thinking, Wang Ge explained calmly.

Wang Ge’s tone was neither warm nor cold, devoid of the resolve typically found between men, leaving his true intentions unclear.

Captain Zhu couldn’t determine whether Wang Ge was telling the truth.

He could only wait and see.

Xiao Song Zombie was still in Zhang Yiming’s hands, and his brainwaves had no effect on Zhang Yiming, who could even control him.

He had to rely on Wang Ge to evade Zhang Yiming’s brainwaves; finding Xiao Song meant sticking with Wang Ge.

Captain Zhu’s fingers tightened slightly. Though his frigid body brought little emotion, his desire to find Xiao Song burned hot.

The one who used to follow him, whom he once mentored, a college student just graduated from the police academy, wasn’t meant to become a zombie devoid of self-awareness.

This wasn’t meant to be his fate.

Captain Zhu looked down, not releasing his brainwaves, yet Wang Ge could command wave after wave of zombies to attack the three escaping individuals below.

He witnessed for the first time a human using brainwaves to control zombies, even more efficiently than the Zombie King could.

The zombie horde was orchestrated such that Bai Yifan and the two others were unharmed, as it tested Zhang Chen’s superpower.

Each time, Zhang Chen’s superpower’s attack strength was being gauged.

From afar, gray energy covered the surrounding land, and Captain Zhu felt threatened by it.

The two figures stood on a high-rise, each time directing only a wave of regular zombies, as if testing something.

Downstairs.

”Bang! Bang! Boom!”

A heavy collision sound suddenly echoed from ahead.

That sound was all too familiar to Bai Yifan.

It was the sound of a car colliding with zombies.

In his days of driving the bus, this sound rang out the most, distinguishable with just one hearing.

Bai Yifan abruptly looked into the distance and saw a green garbage truck.

Inside the garbage truck were three old men.

Instantly, Bai Yifan felt his heart settle.

Safe!

Survived easily!

”Sis, quick, call out to Grandpa!”

Bai Yifan turned back and said to Bai Xiqin, then pedaled furiously towards the green garbage truck on his bike.

Bai Xiqin blinked, raised her eyes to the green garbage truck.

The green truck, like an ancient beast, easily sent zombies flying, black blood splattering against it.

Unscathed, the green garbage truck left zombies broken on the ground.

The three old men had already spotted Bai Xiqin and the others being chased by zombies, so Bai Xiqin merely waved and didn’t shout for Grandpa loudly.

Being in the midst of zombies, shouting to Grandpa felt odd.

If a zombie responded, it would be like a horror movie, wouldn’t it?

”Quick! Ram them!”

Bai Zhengxuan rolled down the window, releasing a rainbow glow from his hand, clearing zombies in front of the bike, his face showing urgency.

”That rascal Bai Yifan, taking his sister out to court disaster!”

With Xiao Niu’s condition different now, without superpowers, unable to chop zombies, if they crashed, they’d all scream together.

”Don’t worry!”

Uncle Wang nodded steadily, wearing flip-flops, floored the accelerator, charging towards Bai Yifan without hesitation.

Seeing reinforcements, Zhang Chen didn’t idle. None of her superpowers were wasted, each attack falling on zombies.

The wave of zombies was quickly wiped out, with the green truck clearing a good number.

”Xiao Fan, why the playful (disastrous) outing with your sister!”

Bai Zhengxuan poked his head out of the window, shouting towards Bai Yifan.

Bai Yifan grinned sheepishly, playing dumb.

Before Bai Zhengxuan could reprimand Bai Yifan, another wave of zombies surged forward.

The green truck didn’t rush towards other zombies but stopped in front of them.

Bai Zhengxuan opened the car door, and the three old men got off the bus directly.

Uncle Liu’s mutated greenery exploded in growth, enveloping everyone and the truck, forming a green barrier.

Zombies clawed at the green barrier, but sharp teeth and claws couldn’t penetrate what seemed fragile.

Uncle Wang quickly opened the truck’s rear, effortlessly tossing Bai Yifan’s bike inside.

Casually, he grabbed Bai Yifan and stuffed him in as well.

Bai Xiqin and Zhang Chen helped each other climb into the back with relative elegance.

”Roar――”

More and more zombies piled up outside, yet the old men remained calm.

They were used to it; every outing with Uncle Wang meant being chased by zombie hordes!

”Stay inside, don’t intervene!”

Bai Zhengxuan instructed Zhang Chen, who wanted to act, then promptly locked them into the back.

Foremost was protecting the children’s safety.

Inside the back, Zhang Chen was puzzled, seeing Bai Yifan’s siblings shivering from the cold, holstering her Ice Ability.

”Old Liu, it’s ready!”

Bai Zhengxuan clapped his hands, his mutated climbing vine surged instantly, its green leaves appearing incredibly sharp.

”Got it!”

Uncle Liu swiftly retracted the green barrier, which transformed into writhing vine ”snakes,” ensnaring the incoming zombies.

Splat――

The green vine effortlessly pierced the zombies’ brains, black blood splattering everywhere.

Bai Zhengxuan’s mutated climbing vine seemed alive, autonomously harvesting zombie heads without manual control.

The scene was extremely gory, so much so that Bai Zhengxuan covered his eyes as he unleashed his power.
