Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

The middle-aged man looked very elegant, but his grip was incredibly strong as he kept holding onto Bai Anhai, not allowing him to get into the car.

He just had to fulfill his own wish.

You’re going to die anyway, who cares about saving face!

Helpless, the Bai Family all got off the bus and took down the barbecue grill.

Since it’s already noon, they might as well eat first.

Wang Lu was unable to hide his shock when he saw the barbecue grill being taken out.

This was the most flamboyant family he’d seen surviving in the apocalypse.

Other people would either run or prepare to defend when they saw zombies, but this family behaved as if it was just a regular meal or drink, not afraid of zombies at all, and even casually set up a barbecue grill.

It was like they were on vacation!

In an instant, Wang Lu understood.

This family could definitely send him to his death!

To get their help, he had to help them first.

Without saying a word, Wang Lu bent down and started picking up twigs.

You need twigs to cook food.

The Bai Family just thought maybe Wang Lu had a few screws loose as they went about preparing their meal.

Bai Yifan frowned as he looked into the distance, not spotting a single zombie, only some black blood on the ground far away.

”It’s really strange, I just felt there were a lot of zombies, how come there’s not a single one now?”

Bai Yifan was full of doubt.

Even if the zombies outside had just been taken care of by Dad, there shouldn’t be none left.

Zombies far away would definitely hear the noise, logically there should still be ten or twenty coming over.

”As long as I’m here, zombies definitely won’t come over. Don’t worry, I’m very familiar with my own bad luck aura.”

Wang Lu heard Bai Yifan talking to himself and immediately chimed in.

”What?” Bai Yifan’s face froze for a minute, ”You call that a bad luck aura?”

No matter if what Wang Lu said was true or false, just the fact he called it bad luck aura was something Bai Yifan couldn’t stand.

Clearly it’s a super lucky star attribute!

”Yeah! I just can’t die, wanting a zombie to take a bite out of me is particularly hard!”

Wang Lu shrugged, put the dry twigs he was holding on the ground, and very eagerly continued elsewhere to gather more twigs.

Bai Yifan: ...

This guy must have something wrong in his head!

The barbecue grill was soon set up.

The charcoal in the bus was already used up, and they couldn’t reveal their space abilities in front of outsiders, so they had to use twigs to make charcoal.

Bai Zhengxuan was just about to use his Fire Ability when Wang Lu stopped him.

”Old man, I’ve got paper here to start a fire, you don’t have to directly ignite the twigs, that’s not the best way to get a fire going.”

For an ordinary person without superpowers, it never crossed their minds that others could use superpowers to start a fire for cooking.

Wang Lu thought Bai Zhengxuan was just going to light the dry twigs directly to cook.

This wasn’t uncommon, he had seen several survivors lighting twigs directly without fire starters.

Bai Zhengxuan looked at Wang Lu’s expression—both righteous and pained—and showed a knowing expression.

This kid surely wasn’t right in the head, probably scared silly by the apocalypse.

Wang Lu glanced at Bai Anhai and then at the unlit twigs, slowly reaching into his pocket.

His movements were very slow, and the expression on his face showed his pain.

It was obvious he was pulling out something very important to him.

As to what it was, the Bai Family couldn’t guess at the moment.

”This is the most important, most precious thing I have in the apocalypse.” Wang Lu’s hands were trembling as he took it out.

This was a real sacrifice!

He hoped the family could help him seeing that he was so sincere.

He really wanted to be bitten by a zombie; someone with severe OCD didn’t want to transform into a zombie by any other means or die any other way.

Once he decided on something, it really couldn’t be changed.

The Bai Family also looked collectively at what he had taken out.

They were all curious about what the most important thing could be for this madman.

With a trembling heart and hands, Wang Lu finally pulled out a folded photo from his pocket.

The photo had been folded several times, looking very battered from the back, showing it had been kept for a long time.

”Ah, really sorry, kept it for so long. Anyway, when I become a zombie later, I can’t take it with me, might as well let it fulfill its greatest purpose!”

Wang Lu adjusted his glasses, solemnly unfolding the photo.

”This is my most important thing, I’ll use it to help you light a fire, minimize your time for making a fire, and maybe you could help me? Just give me five minutes!”

Wang Lu clasped his hands together and carefully handed the photo to the Bai Family.

It was an autographed photo.

”Wow! This person really looks incredible!”

”It’s rare craftsmanship; normal people don’t look like this!”

”How terrifying!”

”Wow, this person looks so unique, clearly not ordinary!”

”Oh! You brought that out so suddenly, I wasn’t prepared for it.”

Liu Jing rubbed her eyes, looking a bit shaken up.

Whether it was from being scared or impressed, it was uncertain.

Either way, it must have been an extraordinary photo to elicit such a reaction from a forensic doctor.

”There are even words on it!”

Bai Yifan rubbed his eyes and took another look, seeing the jagged writing on it.

”The handwriting is also pretty awful!”

Bai Yifan’s face twitched hard, looking at the scribbled writing; it took him quite a while to piece together what it said.

”White... Eye... of... Hinata?”

It took Bai Yifan a lot of effort to read the words.

Thanks to his years of dealing with messy handwriting, he had the experience to understand it.

Normal people generally couldn’t decipher it!

”Who’s that? Such an over-the-top name!”

Bai Zhengxuan looked at Wang Lu puzzled.

”It’s a writer I admire very much, because of him (or her), I’ve chosen the path I’m on.”

Wang Lu looked at the autographed photo with great admiration.

The Bai Family: ...

A lunatic who admires a lunatic writer?

What kind of failed writer is this?

Reading their books makes you want to become a zombie?

”Uh, young man, maybe you should admire a different writer?” Bai Zhengxuan said seriously.

What kind of writer is this?

Could it be a cult leader?

Sucks people into such a wrong path!

”Yeah, the stuff this writer writes probably isn’t read by normal people!” Bai Anhai pointed at the photo, ”Just looking at it makes me think he (or she) might not be normal.”

”Do not insult my idol!” Wang Lu righteously held the photo close, ”You can insult me, but not his (or her) autographed photo!”

Bai Xiqin’s mouth twitched as she gazed at the middle-aged man in front of her who seemed to be mentally unsound, whispering to Bai Yifan, ”This is exactly like attracts like, the writer isn’t normal, so the fan might possibly be not normal too. You should be careful in the future, don’t keep reading weird stuff!”

Bai Yifan was about to nod, but suddenly realized, ”Eh? Why do I feel like I’ve heard of this super over-the-top and crazy name somewhere before?”
