Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Regarding this unreasonable request.

Bai Anhai turned his head and left, completely ignoring him.

No need to pay attention to a lunatic.

”Hey, hey, hey, brother, let’s talk it over. I know this is a bit of a tough ask, but I can pay you. How many Crystal Cores do you need to fulfill this small request of mine?”

The scholarly man with glasses hurriedly reached out to hold Bai Anhai, who was about to leave, his expression very sincere.

”Just walk over yourself and let a zombie bite you. Why insist on needing help?”

Bai Anhai brushed off the man’s hand, feeling the warmth of a human.

He was human, not a zombie.

”I want zombies to bite me too! But whenever I get close, they run away. I can’t catch up with them, and it’s really hard to get them to bite me!”

The middle-aged man looked troubled.

He had long lost the will to live.

Speaking of which, others might not believe it.

Every time he stood still, ready to let zombies tear him apart, those zombies would turn and flee without a second thought.

Just like mice seeing a cat.

But he had no superpowers; before the apocalypse, he was a weak office worker and couldn’t control zombies. He wasn’t someone zombies would fear.

Yet, the zombies ran away from him as if they had an agreement.

Of course, there were times when zombies didn’t run upon seeing him.

That was the one time when a Human Superpower User bullied him, making him carry things like a laborer.

Then the zombies rushed crazily toward him... or rather, toward the Superpower User next to him.

The Superpower User didn’t even get a chance to turn into a zombie; they died outright, turning into a puddle of red liquid, which the zombies licked clean.

Amazingly, the zombies showed no interest in him.

He even cut his hand to draw out blood, but the zombies didn’t bite him at all.

It’s just... aggravating!

He really didn’t want to live in the post-apocalyptic world, but he dared not commit suicide.

Eventually, he thought turning into a zombie was still the most cost-effective choice.

Not real death in the true sense, and no need to feel the pain of this world.

Never would he have thought, zombies wouldn’t bite him!

Even if he stuck his finger in a zombie’s mouth, it would turn away and run, as if it couldn’t smell the scent of his flesh and blood!

But he had already tested it; if the zombies didn’t see him, they would still eat things he threw out with his blood on them.

This was his most distressing issue.

For several months, he looked everywhere for a unique zombie.

He couldn’t find one.

Then he looked everywhere for people to help.

But it was no use either.

As for why he didn’t just use the black blood on the ground to turn into a zombie, it’s because he had severe OCD and mysophobia.

He insisted on being bitten by a zombie to satisfy his one last breath of life.

He was someone who took things seriously and cared about the manner of death. Once he decided to die in a specific way, it had to be that way.

If he planned to die by a zombie bite, he certainly couldn’t die of hunger or other causes!

”Is there something you can’t talk about?” Bai Anhai scratched his head. ”Isn’t it good to live well? Not caring about your own life like this, don’t your parents worry?”

”I grew up an orphan in an orphanage.” The middle-aged man’s eyes dimmed slightly.

”Are you married?” Bai Anhai asked again.

”Yes, I am.” The middle-aged man nodded.

”Then doesn’t your wife worry about you?” Bai Anhai realized his question wasn’t very precise, so he added, ”Whether your wife is alive or dead, she must hope you live well in this world. Why bother finding zombies to bite you?”

”She bought a huge insurance policy on me. On the day of the apocalypse, she deliberately stepped on the gas to hit me. But when the apocalypse broke out, the zombies ran everywhere. She panicked and didn’t hit me, accidentally turning herself into a zombie instead.”

The middle-aged man sighed and continued, ”She’s probably the person who least wanted me to stay in this world.”

Bai Anhai: ...

”Don’t you have any other concerns?”

Bai Anhai felt very sympathetic towards the middle-aged man’s predicament.

Sometimes, he also suspected his son might have taken a giant insurance policy on him.

However, the middle-aged man was worse off; he had solid evidence.

”There’s someone who could be called a concern but not really. That would be my former son. I call him ’former’ because I later discovered he wasn’t my biological son. The day before the apocalypse, he had already gone to find his real dad.” The middle-aged man shook his head, looking even more despondent.

He truly didn’t want to live; he just wanted to become a zombie and hop around.

Bai Anhai: ”... Well, apart from your relatives, there are your colleagues and your boss. There must be other concerns?”

”I was CEO of a listed company, never did anything unethical. The boss’s family valued me highly. Unfortunately, the place is full of zombies now. I couldn’t squeeze in no matter how hard I tried. They probably turned into zombies too. If I became a zombie, it might be a big reunion of sorts!”

The middle-aged man adjusted his glasses and looked at Bai Anhai with longing, ”So, can you do me this favor? You look pretty capable. Could you catch a zombie and hold it down, so it doesn’t run? I won’t take much of your time, just five minutes max, so it can bite me once!”

Bai Anhai: ...

”Young man, this world is so beautiful. Why do you want to die so badly? I can’t help you with this request. There aren’t many survivors left; living well is the truth.”

Bai Anhai waved his hand, stopped talking to the middle-aged man, and turned to leave.

”Come on! Just help me out this once. It’s not a big deal!”

The middle-aged man followed Bai Anhai closely, determined not to leave him alone unless he helped.

Finally meeting someone reasonable, he clung to them.

Previous survivors either laughed at his unreasonable request or beat him up.

It hurt to get beaten.

The middle-aged man decisively chose to pick on the nice guy.

Bai Anhai walked towards the bus with a twitching face. The door opened, and the middle-aged man even tried to squeeze in with him.

”You can’t come in!”

Bai Anhai decisively stretched out a hand to stop him.

”Hey, we’re all survivors here. Lend a hand, will you? Whatever you want, just say it. If I can do it, I definitely will.”

The middle-aged man kept trying to step onto the bus.

”Stop! What exactly do you want?” Bai Anhai looked at the middle-aged man, dumbfounded.

”I want nothing. Just to get bitten by a zombie. I’m asking for help!” The middle-aged man suddenly noticed several people behind the bus door looking at him and awkwardly waved, ”Hello, everyone! I’m Wang Lu, looking to die.”
