Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 441: Chapter 441: Beginning the Delivery

”I’ll give you a chance to rephrase.”

Liu Jing looked at Bai Zhengxuan coldly.

”What I mean is, you’re being a bit too noble. But this is dangerous, it’s better not to go. Zombies are public enemies of humans, is it really okay for us to save this zombie so blatantly? Wouldn’t we get beaten to death?”

Bai Zhengxuan shrank his neck, still showing disapproval in his eyes.

If it were anyone else, they’d have already killed the pregnant zombie, acting as a scourge of justice.

It’s incredibly difficult, nearly impossible, for these highly decayed zombies to have their own consciousness.

They can’t control their actions; bloodlust is their sole reason for existence.

Anyone who wants to save zombies definitely has abnormal thinking!

If you’re not planning to kill this zombie, then just ignore its existence and make a run for it!

”Zhang Yiming saved our whole family, what’s wrong with us saving one or two zombies?” Liu Jing’s eyes sparkled as she looked at the female zombie half-lying on the ground, ”I’ve never assisted in a zombie childbirth before!”

The latter statement was key.

Never having tried it, that was Liu Jing’s real reason to choose to help.

”I’m not the one to decide this; Xiao Niu needs to speak.”

Bai Zhengxuan took a step back, silently passing the matter to Bai Xiqin.

His granddaughter had survived three years in the apocalypse; she surely knows that the ever-increasing number of zombies isn’t a good thing.

He believed that she would certainly kill any zombies that could reproduce.

”Okay, Grandma, if you want to help, then help it!”

Under the gaze of the Bai Family, Bai Xiqin gently nodded.

The meaning of human existence is to make their family happy.

This sort of thing, delivering a zombie’s child, might only happen once in a lifetime, and as a forensic doctor, Grandma would certainly find it very exciting.

This would be an unprecedented interaction between humans and zombies.

It would also be a significant breakthrough in understanding the physical structure of zombies.

Bai Xiqin wanted to know if the child born would be a zombie.

Whether the child really developed inside the zombie like a human child.

Was the child premature or full-term?

These were things Bai Xiqin wanted to know.

”I want to go too!”

Upon hearing Bai Xiqin’s decision, Wang Yiyun hurriedly raised her hand to join.

Anything her mother-in-law found interesting, she found interesting too.

After all, they shared the same professional field; their interests were naturally the same.

Bai Yifan quietly hugged his shoulders to keep warm, feeling a chill somewhere.

He couldn’t believe it; while others were desperately hiding from zombies, his own mom and grandma were about to assist in a zombie childbirth.

He hoped no one would find out about this; otherwise, their family would surely be drowned.

Leng Yebai’s mouth twitched subtly, but he voiced no opinion.

The status of a son-in-law is too low; he could only complain internally.

However, since Xiao Niu agreed, he would just watch from the side, making sure the zombie didn’t inadvertently harm his family.

His body’s Superpower was fully mobilized, ready to rescue at any moment.

Bai Xiqin’s Control Power gently landed on the female zombie, ensuring she wouldn’t hurt her mom or grandma during childbirth.

The female zombie appeared flustered for a moment when the Control Power was applied but soon relaxed, seemingly understanding that the humans before her intended to help.

Her throat emitted a hoarse sound.

As the Bai Family approached, the scent of human flesh and blood grew stronger, increasing her hunger.

She had been in labor for several days; if she were a normal human, she would have died from dystocia.

But she persisted.

She didn’t feel pain; those suppressed sounds of suffering weren’t because of physical pain but worry for her child.

This was a mother’s instinctive reaction.

Out of concern for her child, her hideous face showed a touch of sadness.

She seemingly knew that if she couldn’t give birth soon, her child would be in danger.

When Wang Yiyun’s hand touched the zombie’s belly, the zombie just trembled slightly, with no other reaction.

A rotting face tried not to look at Wang Yiyun, emitting a suppressed hoarse sound from her throat.

For an ordinary zombie, controlling the urge to feed on blood is almost impossible.

That faint maternal love made her choose to trust humans.

”Gentlemen, turn away!”

Liu Jing glanced at the upright standing men of the Bai Family and rolled her eyes.

”What if you guys are in danger?” Bai Zhengxuan frowned.

”With Xiao Niu here, what are you afraid of? Are you saying you can fight Xiao Niu?” Liu Jing retorted.

Bai Zhengxuan: ...

He cherished this granddaughter the most, couldn’t bear to fight her.

Surely it wasn’t because he couldn’t win... right?

”Grandma, if you see it looking at us eagerly, maybe it thinks we could be useful, and if we could help too?”

Bai Yifan still found the zombie childbirth too bizarre; even though he is only a First Rank Superpower User, he wanted to stay here.

Protecting family isn’t just about words; it’s about silent efforts.

”Ha ha, it wants to eat you to replenish its strength,” Liu Jing said.

Bai Yifan: ”...”

”So, shall we wait outside?” Bai Yifan hesitated.

Silently guarding the family at the door is the same.

”We’ll turn our backs, just at the supermarket entrance; call us if anything happens and we’ll come in.”

Bai Anhai thought for a moment and decided to go out.

...What his mom said was true, he indeed couldn’t beat Xiao Niu.

Even combining forces with the others wouldn’t work...

Leng Yebai glanced at Bai Xiqin, placed a dagger in her hand, and then left with Bai Anhai to the entrance.

After the Bai Family men left, Wang Yiyun and Liu Jing began preparing for delivery.

Bai Xiqin’s Control Power tightly restrained the female zombie, ensuring she wouldn’t suddenly bite Wang Yiyun and Liu Jing.

Then Bai Xiqin took out some soft cotton cloth from her space.

Uncertain if they would come in handy, Bai Xiqin also brought out a pack of diapers Bai Yifan had secretly hoarded.

”Xiao Hai, go and get a basin of hot water from the bus.”

Liu Jing yelled towards the door.

Bai Anhai’s face showed a hint of helplessness but quickly ran towards the bus.

”Here, don’t be nervous, follow my lead, relax your body, inhale, exhale—”

Wang Yiyun mimicked scenes she’d seen on TV, opening her mouth to demonstrate.

When she gave birth to Bai Xiqin and Bai Yifan years ago, she just clutched Bai Anhai’s arm and delivered.

None of this hassle was needed.

”Quick, inhale, exhale—” Wang Yiyun repeated to the zombie, seeing it staring blankly.

Female zombie: ...

A funeral master aiding childbirth, it was a first, relying only on scenes from TV.

But the zombie’s consciousness was nearly non-existent, brain ravaged by the craving for flesh, making learning childbirth difficult.

Zombie bodily functions were at a standstill, making natural childbirth like a human impossible.

After an hour, the baby hadn’t appeared.

”Looks like we’ll have to do a C-section!”

Liu Jing felt around the fetus’ position, her expression somewhat serious.

”This fetal position clearly indicates dystocia, it’s very dangerous, if we don’t perform a C-section soon, it’ll be a tragedy for them both.”

Bai Xiqin: ...

One corpse is true; but two lives might not be.

After all, the zombie was already dead.
