Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 417: Chapter 417: The First Great War Between Humans and Zombies

The murky waters of the Yellow River lay still and unruffled, impossible to see the bottom.

After a long time, two figures emerged from the Yellow River water.

They were soaked, with yellow silt unique to the bottom of the Yellow River clinging to them.

Zhang Yiming casually wiped his face, but was left with a hand full of silt, unable to wipe it clean.

Even the silt couldn’t overshadow his strikingly handsome face; you couldn’t tell at all that he was a zombie.

Xiao Lan Zombie’s legs weren’t very agile, and it was covered with large chunks of silt, making its slender figure appear bloated.

With a blank expression, Xiao Lan Zombie stood behind Zhang Yiming, with rotten fingers naturally hanging down by its sides, showing no intention of brushing off the silt.

Its decayed brain prevented it from being as clean-loving as a normal girl.

In its mind were only the emperor and the Bai Family, then eating, absorbing crystal cores.

Zhang Yiming held a piece of clay in his slender right hand.

This type of clay was bright yellow, appearing very hard.

Zhang Yiming had spent nearly an hour diving into the Yellow River to find this special kind of clay.

Beneath the silt of the Yellow River, some clay was buried, which seemed useless before the apocalypse.

But now, in Zhang Yiming’s eyes, it was shrouded in a mysterious light.

Zhang Yiming walked straight away from the Yellow River Beach, with a faint smile on his face, ignoring his soaked clothes as he held the clay in his hands.

Xiao Lan Zombie hurriedly followed Zhang Yiming’s steps, but stopped abruptly after just a few strides.

The emperor’s command ordered it to return to Zombie Village to find Fan Tangtang.

Xiao Lan Zombie stood still, quietly watching the emperor walk away until he disappeared from sight.

After a long time, Xiao Lan Zombie slowly moved its decayed body, heading towards Zombie Village.

Occasionally, it would look back, seemingly wanting to catch a glimpse of Zhang Yiming.

Those rotten eyes didn’t have good vision but couldn’t see anything.

Elsewhere.

Bai Yifan quietly curled up on the sofa, holding a crystal core to absorb energy.

Leng Yebai placed a fruit plate coldly in front of Bai Yifan, filled with various fruits, all peeled by Leng Yebai himself.

Bai Yifan opened one eye to glance at it, then closed his eyes again.

He really was too unfortunate.

To give Brother Leng an excuse to go find his sister, he specially cut up all Leng Yebai’s clothes.

Unexpectedly, he cut the wrong shirt, mistaking his father’s shirt for Leng Yebai’s.

Then, he profoundly understood what fatherly love as strong as a mountain meant... collapsing and splitting apart.

In short, it was a total failure this time.

”Are you hungry? I’ll make lunch for you today. What do you want to eat?”

Leng Yebai cleared his throat, knowing he was in the wrong, and proactively took on household chores.

His little brother-in-law still needed some pampering.

”Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, braised pork, chicken stew with mushrooms, and a bowl of shark fin to soothe the throat.”

Bai Yifan touched the corner of his mouth and listed the dishes.

”...Alright.” Leng Yebai tried to speak in a very calm tone, ”Do you want to watch a TV show?”

Amid the apocalypse, entertainment options were limited to previously downloaded TV shows, games, or listening to the radio.

”Let’s listen to the radio this time. What if something big happens!”

Bai Yifan closed the eye he had opened, adopting the demeanor of a sage.

To be honest, something felt off in his heart, though he couldn’t pinpoint it.

Better listen to the radio!

The radio was the only source of outside information.

”Alright!”

Leng Yebai took out the radio, adjusted it to a suitable volume, and then went to cook.

The bus was very quiet.

It was already noon, and everyone felt drowsy, wanting to take a nap.

But taking a nap felt too lazy, so the Bai Family chose to hold crystal cores, sitting drowsily on the sofa.

Pretending to be diligently absorbing the crystal cores, to alleviate the guilt of slacking off.

”Sizzle sizzle――”

The unstable frequencies caused the radio to emit static sounds.

”This is the Fire Phoenix Safety Base, I’m Zhu Wuchen, the person in charge here. Lately, the Zombie King has been invading frequently. I’m calling on everyone to join forces and overcome the difficulties. Superpower Users, please step forward and help eradicate the zombies.”

A familiar voice to the Bai Family came from the radio.

”Isn’t that Captain Zhu from the safety base? When did he become the person in charge of Fire Phoenix Safety Base?”

Bai Yifan put the crystal core back in his pocket and turned up the volume.

The Bai Family was no longer drowsy, all opened their eyes to look at the radio.

The Bai Family knew well who Captain Zhu referred to as the Zombie King.

It was Zhang Yiming and Fan Tangtang.

”Whether it’s the zombie-infested Zombie Village or the seemingly peaceful Taovillage not far from our city, both have the presence of the Zombie King.”

”There are more and more Zombie Kings, and humanity must unite to reclaim our own homeland.”

”No matter how human-like they appear, the killing instinct in the Zombie King can never be suppressed. We must not let our guard down just because of their appearance.”

”Unite, call all Superpower Users to join forces and fight the Zombie King, to prevent them from evolving into High Rank Zombies!”

”I was once a police captain in S City, and I have enough weapons to contend with the zombie hordes. Believe me, we will certainly restore this world to the way it was before the apocalypse.”

”I declare war on the zombies today on behalf of all humanity.”

”The vicinity of the Yellow River Basin will be our battlefield.”

”The Yellow River is our mother river; it once witnessed the rise of the descendants of Yan and Huang, and now it will continue to witness our glory!”

...

Through the radio, Captain Zhu’s voice resonated with strength and conviction, mingled with exhilarating music.

Even through the radio, Bai Xiqin could feel his blood boiling.

”Since when could Captain Zhu represent all humanity!” Bai Yifan muttered softly.

Zombies are wicked, but not all zombies are bad. There are good ones, like Brother Zhang, who don’t eat people.

”He wants to wage war against Zhang Yiming, doesn’t he!” Bai Anhai looked out the window.

That morning, he had seen Zhang Yiming by the window.

Indeed he was the Zombie Emperor, even if his future parents said he would pose a global threat, he had heightened his vigilance.

But he had never sensed any malice from him toward his family.

Humans and zombies were destined not to coexist; Bai Anhai knew he should firmly stand with humanity.

But... Zhang Yiming had a good relationship with his family and even saved their lives.

If a battle actually occurred, and before Zhang Yiming harmed his family, the Bai Family couldn’t bring themselves to become enemies with him.

”Is it because of Xiao Song Zombie!” Bai Xiqin frowned tightly.

Xiao Song Zombie had once been a ”kept” zombie of Captain Zhu, as well as his subordinate.

After their relationship soured, Bai Xiqin asked Zhang Yiming to watch over Xiao Song Zombie.

If it was indeed so...

”Qin Yuan, go find Zhang Yiming. Water Python, head to Captain Zhu’s side and consult Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing, quick!”

Bai Xiqin hurriedly took Qin Yuan and Water Python out of the space.

Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing were Water Python’s subordinates, specially used for monitoring Captain Zhu.

”Okay, master!”

Qin Yuan and Water Python could see Bai Xiqin’s urgency and swiftly dashed out, disappearing quickly from sight.
