Chapter 783: Chapter 615: The Little Monk Who Defies Heaven and Earth

The quiet voice wasn’t too loud or too soft, yet just perfect for everyone around to hear clearly.

”Are deities so high and mighty?”

Little Monk Bu Jie, unnoticed until now, had already set the continuously crying bundle of flesh on the ground and slowly stepped forward.

”Are deities so aloof and arrogant?”

Taking another step forward, Little Monk Bu Jie spoke again.

”Deities wield power over all living creatures and govern the cycle of the Heavenly Dao. Are they truly as holy and inviolable as all beings in the world believe? Can they really abide by the Heavenly Dao and be fair and just?” Little Monk Bu Jie’s small mouth opened and closed with each word.

The words that came out left even the usually bold Gu Changsheng utterly stunned!

”Manman, a wisp of divinity left from the Ancient Wilderness, do you think that because you are honored as Divine Venerable, why have you fallen so low?” Pointing a small hand at the holy golden figure, Little Monk Bu Jie spoke without any inflection in his voice, ”It is because you neglected your divine duty. Over the vast expanse of time, you watched as the land of Miaojiang transitioned from absolute reverence and faith in you to gradually perceiving it as insignificant. You deemed their faith tainted and not worthy of your protection, furiously left, and neglected your responsibilities, which is exactly why you deserve this calamity!”

”You! You!” Upon hearing these words, Manman’s holy golden figure trembled slightly, her voice tinged with fear.

”Born a deity, who gave you the right to act so capriciously? Bearing a divine duty, who granted you the privilege to do as you please? Your Divine Soul was imprisoned, leading to such a plight, it’s all due to your own faults, and no one else is to blame!” Little Monk Bu Jie pointed at Manman, speaking fiercely.

Gu Changsheng watched the little monk at the edge of the ravine with a face that had gone completely slack!

What’s going on here?

Since when had his always easy-going Little Monk Bu Jie become so stern and strict?

The words he spoke were nothing short of pointing at Manman’s nose and saying, you freaking had it coming!

If it were any other time, Gu Changsheng would certainly have given Little Monk Bu Jie a thumbs up in awe!

But in their current predicament, she truly couldn’t bring herself to do it!

With thunder hanging over her head, she might be obliterated in the next instant; all she cared about now was how much longer she could live!

As for everything else, it was enough just to watch the drama unfold!

A confrontation between an omnipotent deity and a cheat-code-like little monk was sincerely not something she, a mere human, could get involved in!

”You! Who are you? How dare you publicly rebuke a deity! Could it be that you humiliate me because I’ve lost my divinity, lost my Divine Body, and fallen into such a state?” Manman looked at the little monk beyond the ravine with incredulous and doubtful eyes, her insect face filled with clarity.

”Rebuke a deity? Haha...” Little Monk Bu Jie, upon hearing this, suddenly curled his lips, emitting a disdainful snort of cold laughter.

Then...

Then, under Gu Changsheng’s astounded gaze.

Little Monk Bu Jie casually crossed the seemingly bottomless ravine as if it were flat ground and came to stand by her side, at the very spot where a defiance of heaven’s tribulation was about to descend!

”Rebuke a deity? Is it a great sin?” Little Monk Bu Jie tilted his head to glance at Manman’s phantom, his expression of deep sorrow for the world gone, replaced by unprecedented solemnity.

Suddenly, Little Monk Bu Jie turned around, flipped his monk’s robe, and knelt on the ground!

How he managed this was beyond anyone’s understanding, but as he knelt, with a simple gesture of his hands in the air, a line of golden blood drops fell from his fingertips, hovering just above the ground in front of him, not actually falling...

Golden!

Golden blood!

Gu Changsheng was so shocked that she was instantly stupefied!

Her whole being was thrown into disarray by the wind!

The body of Gu Taitian, who was leaning next to her, also tensed up immediately, his eyes widening in disbelief!

”Shang Xie, what are you doing?” Gu Changsheng finally found her voice, speaking nervously.

Golden blood!

Golden blood!

Shang Xie! Just who is he?

Little Monk Bu Jie completely ignored Gu Changsheng’s question. Kneeling on the ground, he slowly raised his head, glaring at the sky with fury. His small figure was suddenly engulfed by boundless hatred, bursting out with an incredibly powerful voice.

”What do I want to do? What do I want to do? I condemn the deities, yet why has no divine retribution befallen me? Why? Because I am merely condemning the deities! The deities... hah... As one of the deities, he is the Insect God, and I am the Human God. I condemn him, and there is no fault in that!”

”You!” Gu Changsheng said, supporting Gu Taitian, and staggered back a half step.

Insect God?

Human God?

Golden blood!

So it turns out...

”Yet, I simply won’t accept it! With Heaven and Earth above, since you wish to bring about this heavenly calamity, I will take this opportunity to ask! I condemn the deities and no divine punishment falls upon me. Now, let’s see if challenging Heaven and Earth will bring about the same heavenly calamity!” Little Monk Bu Jie shouted with all his might, his little face grim and solemn.

Challenging Heaven and Earth!

Upon hearing this, Gu Changsheng was greatly startled and stepped forward, grabbing Little Monk Bu Jie’s shoulder in urgency, ”Shang Xie, you’ve gone mad! Get up, get out of here! This is not a game! This has nothing to do with you, leave!”

”I won’t! The calamity descends, and the eyes of Heaven and Earth are open. I demand to question them directly!” Little Monk Bu Jie remained unmoved, shaking off Gu Changsheng’s hand. With a small finger pointing towards Manman hovering in mid-air, he looked up to the sky and declared loudly, ”He is the Insect God, ruling over thousands of insect spirits in Miaojiang, worshipped by the Witch and Gu Tribes. After a million years, he grew complacent, neglecting his duties, and deserted his post, which led him to his current plight of being shackled by others. All of this is his own doing, he deserves it! In this case, I can still say that Heaven and Earth are just and fair!”

At this point, Little Monk Bu Jie’s voice suddenly rose significantly, his hand pointing towards himself, ”But what about me? What about my Secret Sect Shang Clan? If Heaven and Earth truly see all, can you tell me why my Secret Sect Shang Clan faced extinction? What wrong did my Secret Sect Shang Clan commit to deserve such devastation?”

”Of the same lineage as the Ancient Wilderness Gods, my Secret Sect Shang Clan was born at the End of the Ancient Wilderness, with the Body of God among men, walking the earth. In times of peace, we lay dormant; in times of chaos, we assist the Human King, protecting the common people from the ravages of war. Generation after generation, life after life, my Secret Sect Shang Clan has never been negligent. We face Heaven and Earth without shame, living up to the name of Human God. Yet, why has the disaster of total annihilation befallen my Secret Sect Shang Clan?”

Having said this, Little Monk Bu Jie suddenly raised a finger, pointing directly at The Heavens, his eyes bloodshot and his voice hoarse with emotion, ”Heavens, if you have vision, grant me an answer! Earth, if you have mercy, speak to me! For a million years, my Secret Sect Shang Clan has inherited the will of Heaven and Earth, working diligently, without extraordinary merits but with toilsome labor. Why do you treat us this way?”

”When the king’s sword strikes, we possess the ability to observe Heaven and gauge Earth, and while we have Divine Blood and Divine Body, we have strictly adhered to the covenant made with Heaven and Earth thousands of years ago, never revealing our true forms!” At this point, tears streamed down Little Monk Bu Jie’s face, sadness filled his compassionate eyes, ”Over a thousand lives! Over a thousand lives of my Secret Sect Shang Clan were slaughtered overnight by the very humans we devoted everything to protect! We upheld the duties of Human Gods, resigned to our fate, my parents, my kin, each falling into pools of blood, to their dying breaths never forgetting their Divine Duties, never forgetting the covenant with Heaven and Earth. Then why? Why has this happened? My Human-God Lineage has neither shirked its duties, nor been negligent, nor failed. If it weren’t for Heaven and Earth’s will, if I, Shang Xie, wasn’t born with signs of Heaven and Earth’s anomaly, wouldn’t my Secret Sect Shang Clan have invited even greater disasters upon ourselves? Heaven and Earth, you balance all things, be it deities or myriad creatures, all within your clapping hands. Give me an explanation, why did my Human God Shang Clan offend Heaven and Earth? Why?”

Across the sky, the tumultuous dark clouds churned incessantly, becoming even more violent!

Glows of electricity filled the entire night sky!

Bolts of lightning tore the canopy of Cangqiong apart!

Wind roared past the ears, thunder and lightning ravaged the sky!

Yet Little Monk Bu Jie’s voice seemed to penetrate through the heavy cloud cover, echoing through this domain where thunder rolled relentlessly!

”Heh heh...”

Long without response, nor thunder striking down, Little Monk Bu Jie coldly laughed as he climbed up from the ground, clutching Gu Changsheng’s garment with one hand and Gu Taitian’s with the other, standing up straight, head raised, and spoke again, ”Heaven and Earth above, uncompassionate, yet my Human God Shang Clan cannot be unjust! Although Gu Changsheng was born to defy Heaven’s fate, she has complied with the destiny of this world. She is the new Human King chosen by me, Shang Xie, the ruler of all under Heaven. What of the heavenly calamity? You were never absolutely fair, nor absolutely merciful. Now, with just me, Shang Xie, remaining of the Human God lineage, if you wish to let her face the calamity and kill my chosen one, so be it. Kill me along with her! From then on, there will be no Human God, no more my Human God Shang Clan! Of course, with the Human-God Lineage gone, the world will fall into endless chaos, lives will be ruined, people will suffer, without cease, without peace!”

Upon hearing this, Gu Changsheng’s eyes widened in disbelief.

Damn it, what is Little Monk Bu Jie trying to do?

Is he actually threatening Heaven and Earth?

This arrogance!

Truly unparalleled!

”You! You! You actually dare to challenge Heaven and Earth! You even dare threaten Heaven and Earth!” Manman, floating in mid-air, spoke in astonishment, her insect-like face contorting.

”Why not? You are but a Divine Breath, ultimately without a Divine Body. I am the last deity here. As the Human God, I naturally preside over all that concerns humanity, which makes me far stronger than you, an insect!” responded Little Monk Bu Jie, glaring at Manman.

Upon hearing this, Manman felt inwardly wounded. After struggling for a while, she finally managed to utter a sentence, ”Challenge Heaven and Earth if you will, but why drag me into this?”

Still set up as the antagonist! This feeling, it made Manman, though a deity herself, feel an endless disdain for her own, hardly substantial Divinity!

”Because in this world, apart from you and me, there is not a trace of a deity’s Shadow left...”
