Chapter 344: Chapter 219: Closing the Door and Shooting Arrows Chapter 344: Chapter 219: Closing the Door and Shooting Arrows With the old woman’s momentum, if she had truly collided with the main pillar, at the least she would have suffered a bloody head, and at worst, she might have lost her life.

In that instant, everyone’s heart rose to their throats, too tense to even breathe.

Though it was a moment late and fast, Gu Changsheng, who was already known for his speed, now didn’t hold back at all. A flash of red, and he barely caught the old woman’s body just a second before she would have hit the main pillar, then leveraging the momentum, he jumped to the side and steadied himself after a long dozen feet.

The moment he landed, Gu Changsheng placed his hand on the old woman’s wrist to feel her pulse, his eyes revealing his anxiety as he asked, “Auntie, are you alright?”

“No… no problem…” The old woman’s face still showed her panicked confusion. Hearing Gu Changsheng’s question, she responded woodenly.

“Lady Changsheng?” Uncle Song and Dong Lei cried out in unison as they hurried over.

After checking her pulse and confirming that the old lady was only scared and not hurt, Gu Changsheng finally let out a long sigh of relief. Then, with gentle motions, he helped the old woman up and handed her over to Uncle Song and Dong Lei, quietly instructing, “Help her to rest on the side.”

“Yes!” Uncle Song agreed, supporting the old woman toward the side hall of the main hall.

Seeing that the old woman was still trembling from fright, Gu Changsheng suddenly turned around, his delicate face filled with icy severity, and a hint of cinnabar red bright as fire on his forehead, as if her entire being had ignited.

“Miss, did you borrow courage from the heavens to dare cause harm in my medical hall?” Gu Changsheng’s gaze was as sharp as a torch as he looked at Huo Shuixian standing not far away, his fury unabashed.

“She’s nothing but a lowly commoner, what of it if I harmed her?” Huo Shuixian stood proudly, radiating disdain and contempt.

“Lowly commoner? In your eyes, is it that only you are high above and unspeakable? Miss Huo, let me tell you, people are only differentiated by good or evil, not by high or low status!”

“You were born low yourself, so naturally you would say that, huh!”

“Noble or lowly, Miss, to dare cause trouble in my medical hall, it might be excusable if it was just against me personally, but you harmed an innocent. I, Gu Changsheng, will never tolerate this!” Gu Changsheng said, adding sternly, “Ning Er, uncover the curtain!”

“As you command!” a deep voice responded from the third floor.

Huo Shuixian felt a jolt in her heart when she heard this.

“Open your eyes wide and look up carefully!” Gu Changsheng gestured to stop Dong Lei from stepping forward and pointed upward with her hand.

Huo Shuixian blankly raised her head and saw four light crossbows on the third floor, their strings drawn taut as a full moon, and the dark arrowheads shining cold and terrifying, making onlookers’ hearts shudder.

“Miss!” Ru Yu cried out sharply, shielding Huo Shuixian with her body.

“These arrows are called Bone Piercers, made decades ago by Elder Mo of the Mo Family, famous in the Itinerant World. They penetrate three inches into flesh and only leave the bone when extracted. I’ve stated beforehand, those who intrude upon the medical hall choose death over life! Miss, what have you to say now?” Gu Changsheng’s voice was icy as each word powerfully resonated, dropping like a stone.

Huo Shuixian, hidden behind her face veil, flickered a trace of panic. Though she hadn’t heard of Elder Mo, the sight of those arrow tips was frightening enough to chill her to the bone. Nonetheless, she tried to retain her composure and spoke, “Gu Changsheng, you dare! Do you know who I am? I am the legitimate granddaughter of the Grand Tutor, born into the Guanlong Huo Family. If you dare hurt me, the Huo Family will not let you off, and neither will Brother Mu stand by and watch!”

“So what? Miss, if you keep provoking me like this, you should be prepared for inevitable injury! I, Gu Changsheng, have always been unafraid of power. What of the Guanlong Huo Family? To raise such a clueless and arrogant daughter, they can’t be that powerful!” Gu Changsheng finished sharply, impatience flickering in his eyes.

“Gu Changsheng, you dare! If you hurt me at all, my Huo Family will demand your whole family pays!” Huo Shuixian’s fingers dug into her palm, her injury from the day before re-bleeding.

But standing within the range of the arrows, she dared not make the slightest move.

The extreme anger yet forced endurance made Huo Shuixian’s entire body stiffen with tremors.

“Have my whole family pay? Ha! Such big words!” Gu Changsheng scoffed coldly, leaning closer to Huo Shuixian’s ear, his voice light as he spoke softly, “Miss, go ask the astute people of your family at the Imperial Court, clear up how the former City Lord of Liuzhou City, Xiao Chengwen, was exterminated, then come back and bluster before me!”

“Wiping out a whole family, I don’t know if your Huo Family is adept at it, but I certainly am!” After Gu Changsheng said this, the corners of his mouth curled in a mocking smile, he turned, sweeping his sleeve and commanded coldly, “Ning Er, teach them a lesson. Release the arrows!”

“Swish!”

Huo Shuixian was still in shock from Gu Changsheng’s recent words when the dark short arrows flew down from the third floor, aiming straight at Huo Shuixian’s shoulder.

“Miss, dodge!” Ru Yu screamed, rushing forward in desperation.

If anything happened to her mistress, she wouldn’t escape blame, nor could she avoid death!

“Pfff!”

The sound of flesh being pierced. In an instant, Ru Yu’s shoulder was drenched in blood, the short arrow piercing through the scapula, with a bit of blood and flesh trailing from it, a sight truly harrowing.

“My God!”

Patients already hiding along the wall inside the medical hall gasped in horror at the sight.

Lady Changsheng’s actions were indeed swift and fierce! That was an arrow, fired just like that?

“Swish!”

Before the crowd could recover from their shock, another arrow shot fiercely toward Huo Shuixian’s face.

Ru Yu blocked the first arrow for Huo Shuixian, her shoulder blade injured, her movements greatly compromised. In urgency, she could only exclaim, “Miss, be careful!”

Gu Changsheng watched coldly. This arrow, if she didn’t dodge, even if it didn’t kill her, would undoubtedly injure her.

Miss Huo, how deep are you hiding? How much can you endure? A wicked smile hooked on Gu Changsheng’s lips as he laughed coolly.

The next instant, just as the arrowhead was about to reach Huo Shuixian’s face, she suddenly moved, lightly tapped her toes, and leaned to the side like a willow in the breeze, shifting half a foot.

The short arrow carried the wind, hooking up the bamboo hat on Huo Shuixian’s head, flying rapidly behind her.

Suddenly, as the bamboo hat fell off, the ink-black hair on Huo Shuixian’s waist scattered down like a waterfall, enchantingly beautiful, causing a moment of daze.

“Hehe!” Gu Changsheng suddenly laughed coldly, many thoughts crossing his mind, yet he did not speak them.

“Gu Changsheng, you are indeed bold! I have underestimated you!” Huo Shuixian’s bright eyes reddened slightly, her long hair fluttering. The venomous look on her breathtakingly beautiful face was fleeting and mysterious.

“Get out of my medical hall, this is just a small warning for a bigger lesson. If there’s a next time,” Gu Changsheng paused slightly, then continued coldly, “I will make sure you live not and die surely!”

“You!” Huo Shuixian clenched her fists and angrily took a step forward.

“Miss…” Ru Yu covered her shoulder with one hand, clutching her mistress’s sleeve with the other, her whole side dyed red with blood. At this moment, she was sweating profusely, her face pale.

Huo Shuixian turned to glance at her personal maid, her fierce gaze challenging Gu Changsheng, “Gu Changsheng, you wait for me, I will have you pay a blood debt!”

Having said this, Huo Shuixian grabbed Ru Yu and walked towards the door.

Gu Changsheng nodded noncommittally and shouted towards their retreating figures, “I await anytime!”

“Miss, why did you have Ning Er’s subordinates hold back? Such people should be taught a proper lesson!” Dong Lei looked angrily at the doorway, spitting disdainfully.

“But she is, after all, the evildoer’s childhood companion. If I were too harsh, it might reflect poorly on my decorum…” Gu Changsheng shook his head and walked back to his consultation table.

Upon hearing this, Dong Lei’s expression immediately darkened. His lady was just too concerned about His Highness Prince Mu’s feelings!

In her opinion, His Highness Prince Mu was also at fault. For such proud and stubborn ladies, why not drive them away? It would save the trouble of them coming to the medical hall and causing problems again and again!

“Call Yuan Bao to clean the blood off the floor. The trouble was brought by his master, naturally, they should handle the aftermath!” Gu Changsheng finally found time to sip some tea and, seeing Dong Lei picking up a brocade handkerchief, he spoke calmly to stop her.

“Alrighty!” Dong Lei burst into laughter upon hearing this and ran with the handkerchief towards the backyard.

That’s the way it should be. There was no reason why his lady should bear the burden because of His Highness Prince Mu. If His Highness could stay uninvolved, huh, why shouldn’t everyone else be blocked too? It’s only fair!

Meanwhile, Huo Shuixian, with disheveled hair and her half-bloodied Ru Yu, had just stepped out of the medical hall entrance when they faced numerous pointing fingers.

“Look, I told you, barging into the medical hall as if they were something, kicked out by Lady Changsheng, right?”

“Exactly, the Longevity Medical Hall is such a revered place. Even dragons have to coil here; these two really have bloated guts!”

“Just a while ago, they were so arrogant, and now look how pitiful they are! Tsk, tsk… Longevity Medical Hall does not care whether you come from a humble or a noble origin. Ladies, you’d better take heed, this is not a place where you can throw your weight around!”

“Look, that’s a serious injury, even bleeding, tsk tsk… what a pity!”

“They had it coming. If you don’t court death, you won’t die. Making trouble in Longevity Medical Hall is plainly courting death. They’re lucky to have walked out alive!”

“Hmph, this is still Medicine God Lady Changsheng being merciful. Otherwise, they wouldn’t have made it back at all!”

“…”

All around were disdainful, mocking voices. Covered by her long hair, Huo Shuixian’s beautiful face shifted through a spectrum of colors — red to black, black to purple. Out of anger, she raised her voice and scolded sharply, “Shut up!”

Her fierce reprimand shocked the spectators.

“Miss… let’s go back!” Ru Yu’s shoulder blade had been pierced by the arrow, losing much blood, her lips beginning to pale.

Huo Shuixian turned her head, her eyes fiercely glaring at Longevity Medical Hall, then, helping Ru Yu, she pushed through the crowd and walked away.

“Ru Yu, I will avenge you!”

“Miss?” Ru Yu looked up in confusion at her mistress.

Huo Shuixian tightened her grip on Ru Yu’s fingers, causing Ru Yu to furrow her brows in pain, her face turning even paler.

“I will make that wretch regret immensely!” Huo Shuixian’s bloodthirsty, fierce voice rang out.
