Time Travel: The Best Doctor in Ancient Times

Chapter 325: Chapter 203: Moving Day Set Chapter 325: Chapter 203: Moving Day Set Gu Changsheng felt jittery at the thought and thus turned to look at his family behind him.

Little Meat Bun had stopped meditating at some point, his chubby cheeks lively and spirited, “Mother, are we going home now?”

Yue Xilou also put away the ruler, her face a piece of romantic poetry, indignantly tossing out a complaint, “I want a spacious room facing the sun!”

“Lady, is the kitchen really as big and bright as you described?” Dong Lei’s concern was always the place where she could shine, his face already unable to contain his excitement.

Only Zhou Mu remained as calm as ever, gently nodding to Gu Changsheng.

Seeing his family so joyously excited, Gu Changsheng took a deep breath and firmly declared, “Seven days from now, on the fifteenth of October, we move!”

“Wow…” Little Meat Bun clapped his hands, jumping excitedly on the cushion, his small face grinning so wide that his eyes disappeared, “Going home! Going home! We can celebrate my birthday at home! Waka waka…”

The room was filled with the cheerful laughter of this little treasure, making Gu Changsheng smile contentedly.

His home!

His and his family’s mansion! They were finally going back!

“Since Lady Changsheng has decided, then Eunuch Yuan Bao will head back,” Yuan Bao squinted his eyes, smiling as he bowed slightly.

“What time is it now, descending the mountain in the dark, aren’t you afraid of being carried away by a night owl?” Gu Changsheng glanced at the hurried Yuan Bao, then at the night outside.

Yuan Bao slapped his thigh, “Oh my, Lady Changsheng, ah, getting your mansion ready in seven days is no easy task, there’s a lot of miscellaneous things to prepare, you don’t know the troubles, I’ll hurry back and discuss this with Uncle Song!”

Gu Changsheng watched Yuan Bao’s rotund figure sprint out, smiling wryly.

“I’m the one moving, so why does it seem like Yuan Bao is more excited than I am?” Gu Changsheng pointed towards the figure disappearing into the night, turning to Zhou Mu.

“The mansion you love was personally supervised by him; he surely wants to tidy it up nicely to please you,” Zhou Mu’s eyes also hinted at a smile.

Gu Changsheng nodded. She had made elaborate preparations, yet hadn’t moved a brick or tile herself–there was surely no one else who could be such a hands-off manager.

Yuan Bao, no matter how you looked at him, appeared adorable and amusing! In the future, she must make sure Dong Lei prepared some more delicacies for him!

Gu Changsheng calculated silently that she must make good use of the remaining six to seven days to arrange everything well in the mountain stronghold.

Once back in Liuzhou City, she could only come up the mountain twice a month, and couldn’t stay here all the time, so she definitely needed to prepare well.

That night, Gu Changsheng stayed in the pharmacy a while longer, concocting some medicinal potions. When she lay in bed, the thought of returning home excited her so much that she tossed and turned a bit.

Gu Changsheng tossed and turned for a while, but eventually fell asleep contentedly, yet some people stayed awake all night.

For instance, Uncle Song, Yuan Bao, the representative of Liuzhou Medical Guild, Hu Yihai, and the representative of the Medicine Chamber of Commerce, Elder Yhan.

Having rushed back to the city overnight, it was already midnight, yet these few were still waiting in the grand hall of the Liuzhou Medical Guild.

Even the white-haired Elder Yhan was sitting there brimming with energy.

“Lady Changsheng said, in seven days, on October 15th, she will move back! The medical hall will also reopen then!” Under the gazes of the others, Yuan Bao drank two cups of tea and announced this splendid news.

Indeed, the next moment, everyone in the room was smiling.

“Good! Good! Good! As the Lady returns home, I too must start preparing in advance. The batch of porcelain ordered from Ru kiln that’s arriving the day after tomorrow couldn’t come at a better time!” Uncle Song was no longer frail as before; his slightly stooped frame was now erect, his face radiant with excitement.

“Right! I was thinking, with Lady Changsheng’s laid-back nature, who could guess whether she would drag this until the end of the year? Didn’t expect she missed home too! Ha ha… I’ll go tomorrow to Lau Quansheng’s storage to help Lady Changsheng pick out some medicinal materials!” Hu Yihai laughed, his mustache quivering wildly. Lady Changsheng truly was a blessing in his life! His Hu Family had earlier produced a disloyal Hu Bingzhi, yet now Lady Changsheng had entrusted him with the task of publishing medical books. Now, who in Liuzhou would criticize him? Which doctor across the land didn’t know Hu Yihai was the transcriber of “Gu’s Pharmacy Annotation”?

“Nonsense! All the medicinal materials at Lau Quansheng’s place were personally inspected by me before being sent to Liuzhou! There are no inferior materials, what’s there to pick out?” Elder Yhan pretended to sternly rebuke Hu Yihai, but the wrinkles on his face deepened with a smile.

“Choosing generals from the lame, selecting pearls from jewels, the medicinal materials used by Lady Changsheng must certainly be the best. I’ll still go and help sort them out,” Hu Yihai stroked his mustache, his face full of satisfaction.

“Take this old man with you when you go,” Elder Yhan added slowly.

Hu Yihai, upon hearing this, was even more delighted, “Of course, of course! Having Elder Yhan’s fiery eyes watching over things, nothing can possibly go wrong.”

“The mansion has been cleaned up, and tomorrow morning I will have people start moving the furniture and goods in, Yuan Bao, if there are not enough hands, you’ll have to lend a hand.” Uncle Song’s smile was so wide he could barely close his mouth.

“Haha!”

“Haha!”

“Haha, Young Brother Song, aren’t you talking too much? Aren’t there quite a few people already crowded at the entrance of the Gu Family mansion? I have people from Medicine Chambers of Commerce from various places staying around, where would we lack helpers?” Elder Yhan laughed and waved his hand.

“The doctors I’ve accommodated number over a thousand, Uncle Song, even if you were to move a mountain, we would have more than enough people.” Hu Yihai also laughed upon hearing this, “Have you forgotten how many townspeople ran to help you move bricks when they heard the Gu Family had finished building their house? Haha!”

Thinking of these, Uncle Song chuckled, but still shook his head, “That won’t do, the lady is a stickler for detail, and the items she uses are even more so, I still need to find some stable and efficient hands to feel reassured.”

After a lengthy discussion, Yuan Bao suddenly slapped his forehead, remembering something, “It’s done for, I forgot to tell Lady Changsheng about all the people waiting to celebrate her moving in, she can’t open for free consultations on the fifteenth, although she intends to keep her promise for a free consultation session then!”

“You numbskull, hurry up and think if there’s anything else you’ve forgotten, and go find Lady Changsheng tomorrow to discuss,” Uncle Song passionately pointed at Yuan Bao.

Yuan Bao, holding his head, thought again, then looked up, “Also, Little Monk Bu Jie said that the name of Gu Family Medical Hall has adverse ‘Blood Qi’ and shouldn’t be used anymore, I only mentioned hanging up the sign, but forgot to ask Lady Changsheng what to write on it…”

“You! You!”

“…”

They discussed through half the night, and the next early morning, Liuzhou City’s traders found countless red-covered items being carried one by one toward Tongji Street, creating an endless and impressive scene.

“What’s this about? Didn’t hear of any rich family marrying off a daughter, look at this grandeur of ten miles of bridal procession, such extravagance!” A bean curd selling granny stopped a familiar peddler and curiously asked.

The little peddler rolled his eyes, shaking the rattle-drum in his hand, “Granny, you’re out of touch, look across Liuzhou City, no rich family, no matter how big, would actually use so many genuine goods to furnish their daughter’s dowry! It’s Medicine God Lady Changsheng’s mansion being furnished, I caught a glimpse from afar, oh dear, I almost went blind…”

“Quick, tell me, what kind of fine items were there?” Bean Curd Granny’s interest was piqued.

“I only saw an incised gold stern of a sandalwood embroidered stool. Oh my Godfather, even a small corner chipped off that sandalwood could feed my whole family for half a lifetime…”

“You’re the one who’s seeing novelties, I heard of ‘Moon Cage Yarn’ that costs a thousand per yard, stretched out yards long, said to be used for pavilion curtains, tsk tsk…”

“…”

“It’s no wonder she’s Medicine God Lady Changsheng, she’s like a walking Mountain of Gold and Silver, a blessing for our Liuzhou, His Highness Prince Mu sure has an eye for people!”

“You can say that again, who else could afford such a spectacle?”

“…”

As they gossiped, on a wagon parked far by the wall, a fortyish Madam wore a worried expression.

“To report, Madam, all inquiries made, pharmacists have booked all the inns in Liuzhou, and the registered dwellings in the Pawnshop are also rented out,” a steward-esque person stepped forward, reporting with caution.

“Uncle Huo, go and find out more, the price doesn’t matter, finding a place to stay as soon as possible is what’s important,” Madam, well kept, spoke with a slight unhappy tone, sternly ordering.

“Yes!” Steward Huo complied and left with several house servants.

“Mother, do not worry,” a woman in a goose-yellow autumn shirt turned to reassure the Madam. Her long, black hair was tied up high in a Flying Fairy Hairbun, a scarf of the same color covered her face, revealing only a pair of sharp eyes. Her graceful movements hid her world-upsetting charm; her true appearance remained unknown, but her slim figure and her ethereal demeanor, along with her clear and pleasing voice, hinted at her beauty, “We are just passing by, resting briefly before heading southward, why bother with such elaborate arrangements?”

Upon hearing her daughter, the anxiety dissipated from the Madam’s face, replaced by endless doting as she gently pulled her daughter’s hand, “Silly girl, do you really think we are going to Du City to visit your aunt? Your mother has endured this hardship for your life’s significant affair!”

“Mother!” the woman in goose yellow called out perturbedly, lowering her head as if overwhelmed by bashfulness, but the fierce look in her eyes quickly disappeared.

“Enough! It’s natural for men to marry and women to wed, what’s there to be embarrassed about?” The Madam patted her hand again, a trace of inexplicable emotion flashing in her eyes, “Just now, someone sent a greeting card, the reply from the gatehouse said he’s not in the city right now, and there’s no manager in the mansion, it wouldn’t be proper for us to disturb them without rightful status.”
