Time Travel: The Best Doctor in Ancient Times

Chapter 326: Chapter 204: The Name of Changsheng Chapter 326: Chapter 204: The Name of Changsheng Madam spoke up to this point, a hint of confusion flashing across her face, “I don’t know what grand ceremony Liuzhou is preparing for; inns, pubs, and private homes are all occupied by those practicing medicine and seeking remedies, leaving us nowhere to stay.”

Upon hearing this, the goose-yellow clad woman showed a trace of deep thought in her eyes, yet she remained gracefully composed as she sat quietly to one side, saying nothing.

“Nevertheless, it’s no trouble. According to what your grandfather said, he has a good friend living in seclusion in Liuzhou City. If all else fails, when Uncle Huo returns, we can stay at his residence for a while until he comes back.” A smile twinkled in the Madam’s eyes, “I heard your grandfather’s friend has quite a reputation in literary circles; staying with him wouldn’t dishonor my son’s status.”

“Just as Mother suggests,” the goose-yellow clad woman obediently nodded her head.

…

Early this morning.

“What, the Little Monk says the nameplate of Gu Family Medical Hall can’t be used anymore? Why?” Gu Changsheng looked towards Yuan Bao, who had rushed back up the mountain, and after hearing him out, stopped writing with a puzzled frown.

“Yes, Little Monk Bu Jie said the name ‘Gu Family Medical Hall’ has been tainted with the aura of blood and catastrophe, and it’s better not to use it. Lady Changsheng should choose a new name!” Yuan Bao nodded firmly, reporting truthfully.

Gu Changsheng furrowed his brows and turned towards Zhou Mu, who seemed calm as usual, and paced twice around the desk, “The nameplate of Gu Family Medical Hall is ancestral, how can we simply abandon it? If this gets out, won’t people say that I, Gu Changsheng, am dishonoring my ancestors? Uncle Song would never agree to it!”

She remembered how dearly Uncle Song treasured that old nameplate.

“Why would he, Uncle Song said, for Lady Changsheng to practice medicine as a woman is already defying the world’s conventions. If that nameplate is inauspicious and brings harm to the lady, he wouldn’t hesitate to smash it himself, no objections,” Yuan Bao hastily added, “Now we have only six days left; they have already started preparing in full swing. Lady Changsheng, please rename the Gu Family Medical Hall soon so I can have the craftsmen rush out a new nameplate!”

“Only you would believe such groundless superstitions!” Gu Changsheng huffed upon seeing Zhou Mu’s face, which seemed to agree with the notion. She continued, pacing back and forth with a pen in her mouth, “Renaming is easy to say, but off the top of my head, how am I to know what good name to pick?”

Gu Changsheng, reaching this point, looked at Yuan Bao, “Why don’t you go fetch the meditating Little Monk and let him pick a name with a flick of his fingers!”

It was the Little Monk who had brought these troubles upon her; okay, so you’re superstitious, but you even got everyone in the family following your lead!

Dammit, she should cut off his provisions! Gu Changsheng clenched her fist in secret, then turned to Xiao Leizi and said, he was not to sneak him any more meat! Humph…

“Lady Changsheng, as you say, the mansion is yours, and so is the medical hall; no need to consider changing the Gu Residence nameplate–naturally, as the head of this household, you should pick the name for the medical hall!” Yuan Bao was as anxious as an ant on a hot pan, spinning in circles. He was very busy! The list of gifts his master had prepared to celebrate Lady Changsheng’s relocation wasn’t complete yet, and he also had to help Uncle Song move things.

He wished he could split himself in two!

“What’s the hurry? The name will hang on my family’s medical hall’s door for a whole lifetime, I’ll have to look at it for a lifetime. If it’s an eyesore and I find it displeasing, will you compensate me?” Gu Changsheng chewed on the pen as she paced back and forth around the desk.

“How could I not be anxious? Until this matter is settled, I can’t speak of the next. I’ve even written it on the palm of my hand, afraid I’ll forget it when it’s finally your turn, only to get scolded when I return,” Yuan Bao said anxiously, stretching out his chubby, fan-like palms. Indeed, they were filled with tiny cramped characters.

Seeing this caused Gu Changsheng’s face to twitch, “Yuan Bao, it’s good that it’s cold and you’re not sweating from your hands, otherwise wouldn’t it all be a smeared, black mess?”

While Yuan Bao was frantic, Gu Changsheng was nonchalant, making Yuan Bao slap his thigh in urgency, “Aiya, my great-grandmother, please take this seriously! It’s like the Princess Consort isn’t in a hurry, but her eunuch is panicking to death!”

“Pfft! Hehe…” Gu Changsheng burst into laughter upon hearing that.

You know, Yuan Bao really was an authentic Carefree Sect Little Eunuch, always such a comically delightful little eunuch!

“Alright! No more rushing! If you keep it up, you might as well take a hammer and crack open my head to figure it out yourself.” She was anxious too, alright? She felt a bit guilty for having been too hands-off as a shopkeeper, and it wouldn’t be good to continue dragging her feet.

After thinking it through from left to right and back again, and with Yuan Bao nagging her dozens of times, Gu Changsheng’s head was pounding. She slammed her hand on the desk in frustration, “In my own name, let it be called Changsheng!”
