Time Travel: The Best Doctor in Ancient Times

Chapter 87: Chapter 47 My Name is Changsheng

“Doctor Liu, I’ve already sealed several major acupoints with the Golden Needle, and now I’m using the hemostat to clamp around the major arteries near the wound. Help me lift the wound so I can check if the internal organs are damaged. Can you do that?” Gu Changsheng fixed the hemostat and gestured for Doctor Liu to come forward.

“Lift it?” Doctor Liu shuddered, and his hands began to tremble as he reached out. With such a large wound, wouldn’t the intestines spill out if it were opened?

Standing to the side, Hu Yihai and Doctor Liang were also stunned, sweating profusely from their foreheads. What was Lady Changsheng trying to do? Opening the wound, wouldn’t the injury become even more severe, and wouldn’t Butcher Wang die even faster?

“I don’t have time to explain to you. Han Qiu, come here. The rest of you, step back and watch silently without making any noise!” Gu Changsheng frowned as he saw Doctor Liu’s trembling hands. Is this really someone skilled in surgery? Damn it!

“Yes.” Han Qiu stepped forward, standing opposite Gu Changsheng, and reached her hands steadily towards the wound.

Gu Changsheng nodded, indicating her actions.

...

As the wound was opened, blood mixed with abdominal fluid flowed out, looking quite horrifying.

Gu Changsheng reached into the wound, pushed aside the exposed intestines, and continued to probe further.

Hu Yihai and the others had never seen such a scene before. The colorful intestines were still moving, agitating their fragile nerves. Suddenly, they felt their stomachs cramp and hurriedly covered their mouths with their hands.

Xiao Cui’s face had also turned completely pale. Lady Changsheng, she was reaching her hands into someone’s stomach!

How could this be a way to save someone?

“Xiao Cui, a white cloth, help me wipe away the spilt blood.” Gu Changsheng commanded coldly without looking back.

Xiao Cui snapped out of it, picked up a white cloth nearby, hesitated, and dared not step forward. The intestines were out; it was just too horrifying; she couldn’t do it!

“Xiao Cui, if you can’t even handle this small task, how are you going to protect me and Gu Ze?” Gu Changsheng glanced at her and urged her to hurry.

On hearing this, Xiao Cui indeed got a boost of energy as if infused with chicken blood. Yes, she had seen dead bodies before; what was there to fear? She needed to be brave to protect Lady Changsheng and the Young Master!

Don’t be afraid! As she cheered herself up, Xiao Cui edged closer to Gu Changsheng and, trembling, reached her hand toward the wound, but she did not back away.

“You three, better not vomit inside the house, or else, don’t blame me for being rude.” Gu Changsheng glared at Hu Yihai and the others as he continued to inspect the wound.

The wound itself was not the primary concern; as long as the intestines and other organs were not damaged, it could still be salvageable.

Hoping heaven wouldn’t abandon him, Gu Changsheng silently prayed for Butcher Wang.

Time seemed to stand still; Hu Yihai and his companions stood stiffly, covering their mouths, daring not to move, while Butcher Wang lay rigidly on the bed, unconscious, barely distinguishable from being dead.

The group was filled with anxiety; perhaps, coming along had been a mistake!

After a while, Gu Changsheng slowly exhaled, “Fortunately, the internals were not damaged.”

Then, as Hu Yihai and the others watched nervously, Gu Changsheng methodically repositioned the protruding intestines and, when she instructed Xiao Cui to pass her the catgut sutures, their trembling began again.

What was Lady Changsheng doing?

She held a forceps-like tool in one hand and slowly threaded the needle connected to the catgut sutures through the wound.

Sewing clothes? But this was human flesh! Human skin!

Gu Changsheng paid no heed to their shock and expertly stitched up the wound, threading the needle, and placed a pre-prepared silver tube at the edge of the wound, improvising it as a drain.

It was good they were prepared; otherwise, it really could have been messed up.

There was no blood transfusion available now; she was unsure if Butcher Wang could endure a longer period.

Racing against time was like grasping at the tail of life’s opportunities.

After completing the suturing and applying the medication, everything was tidied up, and Gu Changsheng sighed deeply in relief.

She then led the way out.

Hu Yihai and the others stumbled behind, just stepping outside and bending over to vomit profusely, as if trying to purge everything including their bile.

Gu Changsheng changed her bloodstained clothes, cleaned her hands, and worriedly looked inside the room.

Elder Xu had already prepared the medicine which Xiao Cui carried inside. For someone deeply unconscious, administering medicine required a forceful approach, and care had to be taken to prevent the liquid from entering the windpipe. Gu Changsheng was uneasy; Butcher Wang’s current state definitely did not allow for any movement, nor could he afford to cough.
