Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 991: Chapter 696: Ankang Marquis Han Che

Chongshan Pass General Mansion.

Han Fei sat upright in the study, handling military affairs.

Niu Zhuang had already stepped down from his position as the General at Chongshan Town, promoted to Right Governor at the Central Army Commander’s Mansion, currently handling affairs in the Capital City, while Zhou Lan, the Left Governor at the Central Army Commander’s Mansion, was focusing on the western Da Yue Dynasty from Longxi.

With Niu Zhuang returning to the Capital City, Han Fei naturally ascended to the position of General of Chongshan Town.

Once a mere personal follower by Yang Zhenshan’s side, now he commands the troops of a town as General, and is a Duke of the Da’an New Dynasty.

You could say, Han Cheng definitely wouldn’t have imagined that the Han family would see such a day.

”Marquis, there is an order from the imperial court!”

Just as Han Fei was bent over the table handling military affairs, a personal follower walked into the study and handed a document to Han Fei.

Han Fei immediately opened the document and began to read. The order from the imperial court was naturally from the Ministry of War, and the specifics were to attack the Wuliang Hu Clan on October first, requiring Chongshan Town to send troops westward.

Of course, the Ministry of War’s orders only required Chongshan Town to dispatch troops, but as for how Chongshan Town should deploy forces or conduct the attack, the Ministry of War did not provide requirements.

Previously when Da Rong had wars, according to the scale, different arrangements would be made. If it was relatively small, involving only a border town, the Ministry of War would issue a single order guiding the strategic direction to follow, leaving specific plans to the border town’s governor and General.

If the scale was larger, involving several border towns or provinces, the imperial court would appoint a Governor.

For example, when Wu Tuo invaded Liaoxi from Chongshan Town, the imperial court appointed a Governor.

Also, when bandits affected the three provinces of Longyuan previously, the imperial court appointed a Governor.

Many systems of the Da’an New Dynasty were inherited from Da Rong, but it had different systems for appointing Governors.

This time, to conquer the Wuliang Hu Clan, involving Chongshan Town, Beiyuan Town, and Longbei Town, naturally required a Governor to oversee matters of the three towns.

And this Governor was none other than Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan currently holds the title of Great General for North Conquest, tasked with overseeing armies from Chongshan, Beiyuan, and Longbei Towns, arranging all matters for the conquest of the Wuliang Royal Court.

The specific strategic arrangements would naturally be planned by Zhou Lan, but the command should not have reached Zhou Lan yet, as Chongshan Town was the first to receive the order from the Capital City.

After reading the order from the Ministry of War, Han Fei silently calculated in his mind.

Today was already August eighth, and leaving on October first meant there were over fifty days for preparations.

The time was ample, enough to gather troops and supplies.

But the issue was that currently Chongshan Town had no troops available.

In fact, Han Fei was facing a rather awkward situation.

Chongshan Army was powerful, building a thirty-year strong foundation starting from Yang Zhenshan that could not be underestimated, but the problem was Yang Chengye had already transferred most of the elite troops from Chongshan Town.

The original Chongshan Army had become part of Da’an’s imperial guard and personal army of the Emperor.

Yang Chengye also formed twelve camps each for imperial guards and personal army, totaling 240,000 soldiers; however, there are only 60,000 currently, which were formerly the Five Camps in Chongshan Town and 30,000 troops from the Yang family.

Chongshan Town originally had eight Rescue Camps, but now there are only three left. Although the other five were not included in the imperial guard and personal army, they are stationed near Wanshan Ridge to guard against Chen Hengchang moving north.

Thus, now Chongshan Town has only three usable Rescue Camps. Although Han Fei, upon taking the position of General at Chongshan Town, has begun rebuilding the Five Camps and Rescue Camps under various Assistant Generals, due to the limited time, the newly formed camps are not yet adequately functional.

Just as Han Fei was about to put away the order from the Ministry of War, he noticed there was a note attached at the back.

Opening the note, the contents indicated Yang Mingzhi would lead 2,000 elite soldiers as reinforcements for Chongshan Town, and Han Fei, as General, was to prepare for their arrival.

Looking at the handwriting, it was clearly Yang Chengye’s autographed order.

”Second Young Master is coming?”

He looked carefully at the note again, seeing there was no additional content before finally putting the note away.

Compared to the conquest of the Wuliang Royal Court, he was more concerned about Yang Mingzhi’s arrival.

Yang Mingzhi was the Yang family’s Second Young Master, Yang Chengye the Emperor’s personal second uncle; his arrival is definitely a significant matter for Chongshan Town.

Thinking it over, Han Fei immediately began to plan the dispatch of troops and arrangements for Yang Mingzhi’s reception.

Before Yang Mingzhi arrived, the command from Zhou Lan, the Great General for North Conquest, was delivered first to Han Fei.

After receiving Zhou Lan’s orders, Han Fei immediately accelerated the pace of deployment.

Because Zhou Lan had changed the departure date from October first to September first, what was originally fifty days became twenty, making the timeline tight.

Zhou Lan’s reason for changing the departure date was simple. Because Wuliang Royal Court was mobilizing troops, they were deploying north of Longbei Town, indicating their intent to move south from Longbei Town.

To prevent Wuliang Royal Court from gathering more troops, Zhou Lan had no choice but to bring the departure date forward.

She and her Beiyuan Town Camp were in Longxi, not far from Longbei Town.

Western Longxi Province, Lintao Prefecture, in the camp at Beiyuan Town.

Zhou Lan read the constant stream of military reports in her hand.

At this time, Zhou Lan faced considerable pressure, with the threat from Wuliang Royal Court in the north and the Da Yue Dynasty attacking Suzhou Town and Tingzhou Town in the west.

Although the Wuliang Royal Court would not launch an attack in the short term and there’s a blockade at Suzhou Town and Tingzhou Town from the Da Yue Dynasty, resolving this overall mess was no easy task.
