Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 977: Chapter 689: Catastrophe (Part 2)

And this time, many Divine Sun Sect followers consumed a large amount of Martial Artist blood, transforming thousands of them into demon-like entities.

Cruel, bloodthirsty!

However, if these negative emotions are placed on the battlefield, it should also be a beneficial thing.

Chen Hengchang’s power has greatly increased, but Jiangnan has suffered a devastating disaster.

The original illusion of prosperity has been completely shattered, with the affluent Jiangnan instantly turning into a place of poverty.

Chen Hengchang killed those wealthy merchants and gentry, but he did not distribute the wealth to the poor, instead pocketing it all himself.

Without those gentry and wealthy merchants, many industries in Jiangnan have been severely affected, with many people engaged in handicrafts or services losing their livelihoods.

Such as those restaurants, teahouses, weaving workshops, and embroidery workshops. Originally, those workers and embroiderers could still make a living, but now they’re all unemployed.

At the same time, the Martial Arts in Jiangnan also suffered a devastating blow, with countless Martial Artists becoming blood food for the Divine Sun Sect. Jiangnan was originally the most prosperous area for Martial Arts in all of Da Rong, but now it has almost become a forbidden zone for Martial Artists.

The chaos caused by Chen Hengchang in Jiangnan soon reached the ears of Yang Chengye in the Capital City. Although Da’an now does not have an intelligence organization like the Secret Martial Guards, the Yang family’s firm can also play the role of gathering intelligence.

Especially regarding those events happening in Jiangnan, it’s naturally impossible to hide them from the eyes and ears of the Yang family’s firm.

In the Imperial Study Room, Yang Chengye listened to Da Gui’s report.

”The New River Prince Mansion, South City Marquis Mansion, Linjiang Marquis Mansion, Liuan Marquis, Lord Jian’an and eight noble families from the previous dynasty have been exterminated!”

”The Li family, the Wang family, the Liu family and fourteen other official families have been exterminated!”

”The Nanshan Sect, Jiuhua Island, Miao Yu Sect and seven other sects have been wiped out! Except for the Shen family in Xiangyuan Prefecture, more than half of the Martial Arts families in Jiangnan have been exterminated.”

”In addition, many gentry, powerful clans, and wealthy merchants have also been brutally exterminated!”

”According to the information from the Yang family firm, all businesses in Jiangnan are currently suspended. Don’t mention overseas trade; even in those prosperous prefecture cities, more than half of the shops are closed, with only some small traders cautiously continuing their business!”

After Da Gui finished speaking, he looked at Yang Chengye.

Yang Chengye sat behind the desk, lost in thought.

He couldn’t understand why Chen Hengchang would do this. In his opinion, even if Chen Hengchang wanted to deal with those gentries and powerful clans, it shouldn’t be done so violently.

This way, the wealthy land of Jiangnan is completely ruined.

Perhaps Chen Hengchang could amass a large fortune in a short time, but this is tantamount to drinking poison to quench thirst.

”Have they gone mad?” Yang Chengye couldn’t comprehend Chen Hengchang’s madness.

Da Gui said: ”Young master, perhaps they have really gone mad. After all, with the presence of the Divine Sun Sect, whatever crazy actions they take seem normal!”

Yang Chengye pondered for a moment and said: ”Invite the cabinet elders and all the army commanders to come.”

He felt this was an opportunity, and perhaps they could now directly take over Jiangnan.

Moments later, six cabinet ministers—Lu Wenquan, Lin Zhan, Li Wenchun, Zheng Yulin, Qin Jing—and also Liang Shengze and Yang Mingwu arrived.

Zhou Lan serves as the Left Governor of the Central Army Commander’s Mansion, Qu Changkong as the Left Governor of the Forward Army Commander’s Mansion, Guo Ying as the Left Governor of the Rear Army Commander’s Mansion, Liang Shengze as the Left Governor of the Left Army Commander’s Mansion, Yang Mingwu as the Left Governor of the Right Army Commander’s Mansion, and Yu Tonghai as the Left Governor of the Navy Commander’s Mansion.

Currently, only Liang Shengze and Yang Mingwu were in the Capital City.

Zhou Lan was still in the three provinces of Longyuan, monitoring Tingzhou Town and Suzhou Town.

Qu Changkong was still in Southern Border Town, while also overseeing Yunling Town, not only keeping an eye on the southern dynasties but also watching over the Sun family occupying Anxi Town and Wusi Town.

Guo Ying was taking over the Taiping Army in Bashu and had not yet returned to the capital.

Yu Tonghai was responsible for keeping an eye on Chen Hengchang and also for handling the reorganization of Da’an’s Navy forces.

Now that the Yang family has gained control of the world, they will no longer allow the Tenglong Guard to operate independently.

Thus, after Yang Chengye’s ascension, his first target for restructuring was the Tenglong Four Guards.

The Tenglong Four Guards were directly disbanded, and even the military households were gone, so why keep the Tenglong Four Guards?

The original Beihai Navy was also divided, and based on the soldiers and warships of the Beihai Navy, the Beihai, East Sea, and South Sea Navies were rebuilt.

As for whether the soldiers of the Beihai Navy would be dissatisfied, they naturally wouldn’t be, because they were all promoted.

Da’an is different from Da Rong; Da Rong does not value the Navy and maritime territories, but Da’an does.

According to Yang Chengye’s plan, the future Da’an will have a 200,000 strong navy, and the Beihai, East Sea, and South Sea will all fall under Da’an’s sphere of influence.

That is the western sea area of the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain extending to the northeast of Jialuo.

Besides the navy, there is also maritime trade.

Yang Chengye will certainly encourage merchants to trade overseas, from Da’an to Divine Wood Island, and then to the Dajing dynasty, covering almost the middle and western parts of the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain.

And from the south of Da’an, they can reach the Galuo Sea, a route with numerous dynasties, also a huge trade market.

With such a vast trade market, how could Da’an’s maritime trade not flourish?

So now Yu Tonghai is busy with these matters, he has to hand everything that the Tenglong Guard originally possessed to the Da’an New Dynasty.

In the Imperial Study Room, after everyone was seated, Yang Chengye had Da Gui recount the situation in Jiangnan once again.

Lu Wenquan and Lin Zhan, after hearing it, although surprised, did not react too strongly.
