Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 631: Chapter 522: Then do you know the details about this official?

After talking things through with Yang Yunyan and Jiang He, Yang Zhenshan called for Jiang Miao the next day, wanting to hear her thoughts.

Inside the study, Jiang Miao, dressed in a red skirt, burst in energetically, ”Grandpa, you wanted to see Miao’er!”

The young girl was dressed in red, lovely as a flower, with eyes and brows resembling those of Yang Yunyan.

Looking at the young girl, Yang Zhenshan affectionately laughed, ”You walk as if someone’s chasing you!”

”You called for me, Grandpa, so of course I hurried!” Jiang Miao grinned sweetly, coming closer to Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan reached out to ruffle the young girl’s head, ”Miao’er has grown up!”

Jiang Miao giggled, but her eyes landed on the fruit plate on the desk, ”Grandpa, is this for Miao’er?”

In the fruit plate were red and purple grapes that looked very tasty; Jiang Miao’s favorite was grapes, probably because when she was a child, Yang Zhenshan often popped grapes into her mouth.

”Mhm, go ahead and eat!” Yang Zhenshan pushed the fruit plate in front of Jiang Miao.

Jiang Miao sat down and began eating the grapes.

”What does Miao’er think of your Junior Master An?” Yang Zhenshan asked.

By seniority, Jiang Miao should address An Chenhui as Junior Master An. If the two were to marry, there would be a gap in their generational ranking, but that wasn’t really a big issue.

”Junior Master An?” Jiang Miao tilted her head and thought, ”Junior Master An is very nice.”

The girl probably didn’t understand romantic love yet; in her heart, it was likely that all her family were good people.

”Then would you be willing to marry your Junior Master An?” Yang Zhenshan didn’t beat around the bush and asked directly.

”Marry Junior Master An!” Jiang Miao looked confused, ”Why should Miao’er marry Junior Master An?”

”Men marry and women are wed; Miao’er is grown up, and it’s about time to marry!” said Yang Zhenshan.

Jiang Miao put down the grapes in her hand and looked at Yang Zhenshan with a pitiful expression, ”Grandpa, I want to stay by your side forever.”

Yang Zhenshan was taken aback and then burst into hearty laughter.

”What nonsense are you saying, your grandpa doesn’t want you to stay by my side forever, besides, even if you were married you could still stay by my side!”

He ruffled the young girl’s head, ”Your Junior Master An is in the Capital City, whenever you miss your grandpa, just come over and visit.”

Jiang Miao tilted her head and thought; she was not an utterly ignorant child. After all, she was already fourteen years old and knew that in two more years, she too would have to marry, as many marriages had been arranged by the Yang family in recent years.

She just couldn’t bear to part with her grandpa, perhaps because she grew up in the Yang family, or perhaps because Yang Zhenshan, her grandpa, was so kind that she felt closest to him, even more so than to Yang Yunyan and Jiang He.

”Junior Master An is very good, as long as Grandpa thinks Miao’er can marry Junior Master An, then Miao’er will marry,” said Jiang Miao.

Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard, looking at the young girl; she was a smart child, understanding that she would not choose, and also knowing that Yang Zhenshan would not harm her.

Unlike Yang Wanqing, who had instead brought a lot of trouble upon herself.

”That’s settled then, I’ll make the decision on this matter. If your Junior Master An dares to wrong you in the future, your grandpa will not let him off!” smiled Yang Zhenshan.

Although he said so, he was well aware that was something for the future.

If there ever came a day when An Chenhui betrayed Jiang Miao, even if An Chenhui was punished, the grievances Jiang Miao suffered would have been borne, and the hurt felt.

But who can guarantee a perfect future?

All he could do was try his best to find a good match for the children.

At least for now, An Chenhui seemed to be a good choice.

After speaking with Jiang Miao, Yang Zhenshan also called An Chenhui to talk about the matter.

Before Yang Zhenshan could finish, An Chenhui blushed with a forehead covered in fine sweat.

Yang Zhenshan looked at him with a smile, ”What do you think about this?”

”The disciple will trust whatever decision the master makes!” replied An Chenhui.

”Then do you like Miao’er?” Yang Zhenshan pressed him.

He lowered his head, even his neck turning red, ”I like her!”

”...”

Yang Zhenshan stared at him, ”You rascal, don’t tell me you’ve had designs on Miao’er for a long time!”

”No, no, no~~” An Chenhui hastened to wave his hands in denial.

Seeing his reaction, Yang Zhenshan already knew in his heart that this young man probably had feelings for Miao’er for quite some time.

Well, that was good; it saved him some worry.

With the matter settled, Yang Zhenshan mentioned it to An Yuxing. As for the rest, he didn’t need to worry about it. When the time came, An Chenhui’s parents would come to the Capital City to discuss the marriage with the Yang family, and naturally, the matter would be mainly handled by Jiang He and Yang Yunyan.

In contrast, Yang Qingwan and Qu Shaogong were more of a worry.

Though the couple was fond of each other, they seemed to have not yet declared it openly, and it was unknown when they would finally be wed.

As for the others, Yang Zhenshan couldn’t be bothered; he would let Yang Mingcheng and Ms. Wang deal with it.

There were two more children in the Yang family that needed to be married off, Yang Chengxian, who was fifteen, and Yang Wanting, who was fourteen this year. The matter of their marriages should also be put on the agenda.

...

Yu State.

Lin Zhan had been appointed in Yu State for over a month, and with his calling for reinforcements from various places, the pirates of Yu State had been completely eradicated. Yu State was gradually returning to peace, although due to the pirates’ previous chaos, there were countless casualties, and all industries required restoration.

Inside Yu State, Lin Zhan was busy with the reconstruction of the Prefectural Government office. Although many of the suffering people needed attention, the government office still had to be rebuilt.

Lin Zhan stood in front of the burned-down government office, watching a group of laborers load the ashes onto carts to haul them away.

At that moment, Deputy Magistrate Zhang Yu came hurrying over, ”Sir, there’s trouble! The mutinous soldiers from Hai State Guard are causing unrest over grain and pay!”

”Causing unrest over grain and pay?” Lin Zhan frowned slightly, ”Where is Wang De’an?”
