Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 461: Chapter 432 Snow Plain Hu Clan Snow Spirit Palace

Chongshan Town.

Yu Qingyi returned, and amidst his busy schedule, Yang Zhenshan managed to steal some leisure time, not attending to his official duties for two days and staying warm at home with Yu Qingyi.

A brief separation is better than a new marriage, the more than two months of separation had made Yang Zhenshan miss his wife dearly.

Although they were now an old married couple and their affection had grown steady, it doesn’t mean that passion needs to be fiery all the time. Instead, separation makes one incessantly think of the other, feeling uneasy and always sensing that something is missing by their side.

Previously when Yang Zhenshan went to war, he did not have such thoughts, as he really didn’t have the energy to think about home affairs during those times.

However, it was this trip to the Capital City by Yu Qingyi that deeply moved Yang Zhenshan.

Perhaps it was because of the serenity or perhaps due to habits developed over the years, anyhow, Yang Zhenshan felt uncomfortable with Yu Qingyi not being home.

After resting at home for two days, Yang Zhenshan quickly immersed himself into the heavy duties of official business.

There were many complicated matters, requiring his attention one by one.

Da Rong was also not very peaceful, not to mention, far off was Beiyuan Town.

Since the Wuliang army was annihilated at Guanshan Pass, the conflicts between Beiyuan Town and the Wuliang Hu Clan had intensified. Beiyuan Town even took the initiative several times to go beyond the pass, wiping out dozens of small Wuliang Hu Clan settlements.

This was normal, although the Wuliang army was sent into Liaoxi by Ji Feiyu, anything related to the Wuliang Hu Clan inevitably involved Beiyuan Town.

Moreover, the Wuliang army had caused upheaval in Liaoxi, which put great pressure on the civil servants and military generals in Beiyuan Town.

Especially since Yang Zhenshan used a fire to exterminate seventy to eighty thousand of the Wuliang army at Guanshan Pass. If Beiyuan Town couldn’t achieve significant military success, how would the court and the Crown Prince view them?

Hence, to compete for honor and to give an account to the court, Beiyuan Town had been actively engaging with the Wuliang Hu Clan recently.

Although they hadn’t formed a unified strategy, all Assistant Generals were seeking opportunities for battle.

These were all written in the letters from Wang Bin to Yang Zhenshan. Recently, Wang Bin seemed to be somewhat discontented in Beiyuan Town,

The specific situation was not very clear to Yang Zhenshan, but it probably had something to do with Duan Qifeng, the General of Beiyuan Town.

Duan Qifeng, the Princely Heir of Duke Rong’s mansion, had been in charge of Beiyuan Town for twenty years, making him the longest-standing General among the Nine Border Towns of Da Rong.

To describe Duan Qifeng with one sentence would be very apt: no renowned wisdom, no valorous achievements, no brilliant exploits, yet he has held Beiyuan Town impassable like a wall of copper and iron against the Wuliang Hu Clan for twenty years.

Under such a figure, it was normal for Wang Bin to be discontent, who, despite being the Vice General, definitely couldn’t wield much military power in Beiyuan Town.

Regarding this, Yang Zhenshan could only write letters to console Wang Bin, sometimes there’s no need to be too eager for quick success and instant benefits. It is most important to peacefully and securely hold one’s current position.

In the study, Yang Zhenshan wrote a reply to Wang Bin, then he opened the official documents on the table.

However, when he saw the first document, a look of astonishment appeared on his face.

Snow Plain Hu Clan!

This document came from Fushan City, sent by Yang Mingzhi.

Its content was that some time ago, a group of followers claiming to be from the Snow Spirit Palace went to Fushan City, looking to develop trade.

What exactly was the Snow Spirit Palace, Yang Zhenshan was not sure, but since Yang Mingzhi classified them as Snow Plain Hu Clan, it indicated that they came from the lands of the Snow Plain.

The Snow Plain is the term used in Da Rong for the area north of the Haciwen Mountain Range, including the Haciwen Mountain Range itself, all encompassed within the region of the Snow Plain.

Previously, some small clans of the East Sea Hu Clan lived under the Haciwen Mountain Range, but they were all on the southern foothills.

After the destruction of the East Sea Hu Clan, many defeated remnants fled into the lands of the Snow Plain.

Now that Fushan City had become Fuzhou City, the area south of the Haciwen Mountain Range was considered the territory of Chongshan Town, but the actual control area of Fuzhou City was still four to five hundred miles from the Haciwen Mountain Range.

Therefore, there had always been no contact between Fuzhou City and the Hu Clans of the Snow Plain.

The Snow Plain Hu Clan was also the term Da Rong used for the humans living in the lands of the Snow Plain. In the eyes of Da Rong, the North was synonymous with the Hu Clan, regardless of the force or cultural customs, all were collectively referred to as the Hu Clan.

Yang Zhenshan knew there were many human groups and some forces in the lands of the Snow Plain, but his understanding was only superficial.

”Snow Spirit Palace!” Yang Zhenshan pondered.

They want to trade!

Naturally, there was no problem, Yang Zhenshan didn’t mind doing business with anyone, as long as there was sufficient benefit, he was even willing to trade with devils.

Of course, under the condition that the other party cannot pose a threat to oneself.

After some thought, Yang Zhenshan decided to first invite them to Chongshan Pass for a meeting, if it was indeed just for trade, then there was no harm. But if there were any conspiracies or tricks, then they couldn’t blame him for being ruthless.

Thinking this, Yang Zhenshan wrote his approval on the document and had someone send it to Fuzhou City.

A few days later, before Yang Zhenshan could wait for the people from the Snow Spirit Palace, he first received Wang An from the Capital City.

”Greetings to Marquis, this is the memorial that the Crown Prince ordered me to bring!”

Wang An’s attitude towards Yang Zhenshan was extremely respectful, as before arriving, the Crown Prince had repeatedly instructed him to follow Yang Zhenshan’s arrangements after arriving at Chongshan Pass.

Yang Zhenshan took the memorial, flipped open the last page and glanced at it.

”This Marquis is aware now, you all stay down at Chongshan Pass first, this Marquis needs five days to prepare!”
