Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 459: Chapter 431 Excited Crown Prince

”No worries, your sister Red Cloud has just returned, she can fill in for your sister for a few days,” Yang Zhenshan said with a smile.

Wang Yunqiao’s busy matters naturally involved the women’s army of the Tenglong Guard, which remained with the Tenglong Guard, but after Wang Yunqiao came from Chongshan Pass, she also rebuilt the women’s army there.

Recently, Wang Yunqiao had just recruited three hundred young girls, who are now undergoing training.

As Red Cloud had previously managed the Tenglong Guard’s women’s army with Wang Yunqiao, there was no problem at all with her taking over for Wang Yunqiao for a few days.

”This, this~~”

Wang Mingzhe wanted to cry without tears, not wanting to return with his sister, but only wanting to return with his senior brother Lin Zhan, sobbing~~

Lin Zhan wasn’t ignoring him, but Lin Zhan had always been busy with his own affairs, traveling and preparing for exams, rarely having free time to manage him, so Lin Zhan might seem more amiable to him.

Thus, he was not afraid to follow Lin Zhan.

”Alright, alright, there are still things to attend to here, you prepare a bit, and go to Anning County with your sister and senior brother Lin Zhan tomorrow!” Yang Zhenshan felt that it was time for Wang Yunqiao to properly handle this kid.

If not properly handled, this kid might as well turn into a pig.

Hearing this, Wang Mingzhe could only look back every three steps as he left, but as he stepped out of the hall’s threshold, he couldn’t help but say: ”Master, can I not go?”

”No!” Yang Zhenshan glared at him, ”If you don’t go, I’ll have your sister take you to live with her for a month!”

Wang Mingzhe shivered and said nothing more, quickly running off.

Going to Anning County, a round trip took at most seven or eight days, which was much better than living at his sister’s house for a month.

Yu Qingyi watched the fast-disappearing figure of Wang Mingzhe and couldn’t help but snicker.

”Mingzhe is just too lazy!”

Turning around, Yang Zhenshan said smilingly, ”He’s a bit lazy, but this kid is smart!”

If he wasn’t smart, he wouldn’t be pulling tricks!

It’s because he’s a bit too clever that this kid dared to play tricks.

Yu Qingyi stroked Ming Zhao’s little head and said, ”The Emperor doesn’t seem to be doing very well; Yunxue said that the Emperor might not last the month!”

Yang Zhenshan’s expression turned somber, ”Who did she hear that from?”

”Who else but Marquis Changping!” Yu Qingyi said.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly without asking further.

Emperor Chengping’s deteriorating health was no secret, even he had received some information, not to mention the elites in the Capital City.

He was already mentally prepared; now, he didn’t feel too emotional.

...

In the Capital City, inside the Imperial Study Room of the Imperial City.

The Crown Prince, with a look of sorrow, was looking at the memorial in his hands, not because of its contents but because of Emperor Chengping’s health.

He wanted the throne, to the point of madness when he couldn’t attain it previously, but now as it was within reach, he felt full of panic.

These days, he had been overseeing the court affairs, which was effectively the same as sitting on the throne.

But he knew that the current peace was the last protection from his father; once his father passed away, he would face everything alone.

Was he truly prepared?

The Crown Prince himself wasn’t sure.

”In the past, I never felt the responsibilities father bore were that significant, but now I truly understand,” the Crown Prince sighed deeply.

Beside him, the servile eunuch Nansheng said with a smile, ”This old servant believes Your Highness will certainly become a wise and saintly monarch!”

He couldn’t understand the complex feelings of the Crown Prince at this moment; he only felt happy about the Crown Prince’s impending accession, and he even hoped that Emperor Chengping would pass away sooner.

The Crown Prince glanced at him and then lowered his eyelids.

A servant is just a servant, no matter how close, they cannot confide in each other.

The Crown Prince calmed his heart’s worries and panic and picked up a memorial again.

”What is this?” The Crown Prince looked at the content of the memorial, feeling a bit surprised.

”Your Highness, this is a memorial sent by Marquis Jing’an, and along with it came ten ornaments. This old servant has checked, all are exquisitely crafted ornaments!” Nansheng hurriedly spoke.

There are many types of memorials – memorials on state affairs, memorials of peace, thanksgiving memorials, congratulatory memorials, etc., and the memorials of the capital officials differ from those of the local officials.

Generally, the state affairs memorials of local officials and the Imperial Censor are submitted directly to His Majesty to maintain confidentiality and shorten the delivery time.

However, the memorials from the Cabinet, Six Ministries, and Five Army Commandery within the capital go through the annotations of the Cabinet and inspection by the Ritual Supervision before submission to His Majesty.

Depending on the urgency, the state affairs memorials are usually delivered first, while other documents are reviewed thereafter, or even not reviewed but simply recorded by the Ritual Supervision.

For peace memorials, thanksgiving memorials, and congratulatory memorials, if the Emperor is busy, he naturally doesn’t have the time to review each one, so they are recorded by the Ritual Supervision, and then the Emperor briefly checks the records.

But now the memorial from Yang Zhenshan was actually a state affairs memorial, so Nansheng only knew about the ten ornaments sent by Yang Zhenshan and wasn’t aware of the content of the memorial.

After reading the memorial, the Crown Prince’s expression shifted and instructed, ”Bring all those ornaments here!”

”Yes!” Nansheng responded and immediately had a group of young eunuchs move the glass ornaments to the Imperial Study Room.

The ten glass ornaments were of various sizes, each one flawlessly crafted.

Among them was that golden Buddha statue that had surprised Yang Zhenshan previously.

Brilliant sunlight streamed through the carved wooden windows into the Imperial Study Room, perfectly illuminating the golden Buddha statue, making it gleam resplendently.
