Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 453: Chapter 428: The Grand Gift, Assassin

Luo Shang, upon receiving the instructions from Yang Zhenshan, immediately took Luo Zhen with him to the glass workshop. When he saw each piece of exquisitely made glass decorations, he was so astonished that he almost couldn’t catch his breath.

”My goodness, the Marquis is going to make a killing!”

What is rare is valuable, and what is exquisitely made is valuable!

Glass ornaments are more exquisite than glaze, easier to mold than ceramics, more shimmering than stone carvings, and larger than jade. As decorations, glassware has many advantages.

The most important thing is that there are no glass ornaments here yet. As long as Yang Zhenshan wishes, he could completely price the glass ornaments at several thousand or even tens of thousands of Silver per piece.

However, that would require a lot of time and effort, and some disapproval from ill-willed individuals.

Once the glass workshop starts manufacturing on a large scale, the price of glass ornaments will quickly fall.

If there is only one piece, it is a rare treasure. But if there are thousands, tens of thousands, or even an unceasing supply, they are just an ordinary decoration.

Now that production is limited, prices can be higher, but once production increases, the price of glass ornaments will definitely drop.

Yang Zhenshan is not a businessman, so he won’t hoard goods to demand high prices. What he wants is sales volume, not high prices.

Therefore, the price of the first batch of glass ornaments is determined by their size. The larger ones are a few hundred Silver; the smaller ones, a few dozen Silver.

Even so, the profit is quite exaggerated.

As mentioned before, the production cost of glass ornaments is lower than that of making lenses because lenses require high transparency, and their yield rate is hard to improve. The glass ornaments, even with some imperfections, don’t really affect much.

Of course, the price will be cheaper if there are flaws.

On that day, Luo Shang had a thousand glass ornaments shipped out, while at the same time, Yang Zhenshan arranged for someone to send a hundred glass ornaments to the Capital City, along with the glass production process and his profit strategy.

However, this time, it was a gift for the Crown Prince, not for Emperor Chengping.

The health of Emperor Chengping has been declining; it is said that he has fainted for six or seven days in a row recently.

Clearly, Emperor Chengping can no longer interfere with court affairs, and Yang Zhenshan may have a chance to win the Crown Prince’s favor.

Building relationships with the future new Emperor is key!

The Crown Prince is bound to like this generous gift.

The glass production process is not critical; Yang Zhenshan’s profit strategy is.

The court is also in need of money, and the Crown Prince is even more in need of Silver. Yang Zhenshan’s profit-making plan with glass is definitely a generous gift for the Crown Prince.

After dealing with the glass, Yang Zhenshan went to see the training ground at Camp.

The training at Camp is currently divided into two parts: one part is the soldiers from the previous Five Camps, who switched sides just before the combat. Their combat ability isn’t bad, but still does not meet Yang Zhenshan’s standards. They need complete basic training and combat practice, conducted by their respective Five Camps.

The second part is about the newly recruited soldiers, these recruits are 16 to 20 years old, starting from scratch. They must go through a three-month trial period, and only if they pass the assessment, they will be assigned into the Five Camps.

Yang Zhenshan rode his horse to the camp outside the city, which was the former site of the Left Camp, where Zhou Lan used to serve, and it’s very close to Linguan Castle.

However, it has now become the training ground for Camp.

Entering the camp and looking at the soldiers training, Yang Zhenshan’s expression was solemn.

The soldiers were practicing weaponry and riding skills, with spearmen, sword and shield soldiers, archers, cavalry, and so on.

Instructors armed with batons moved among the ranks, striking down without hesitation those who performed unsatisfactorily.

By now, Yang Zhenshan’s soldier training has already formed a complete and systematic training procedure.

The veteran soldiers from the former Five Army Camps of the Tenglong Guard are all too familiar with this training regimen.

”Greetings, Marquis!”

Shortly after Yang Zhenshan entered the training field, Song Dashan rode up to him.

”How is it? How many of these soldiers can pass the assessment?” Yang Zhenshan asked while walking toward the barracks behind the training field.

”The general intends to select three thousand men,” said Song Dashan.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly. Selecting three thousand from five thousand had an acceptance rate that wasn’t very high.

But it was normal. Although his requirements for selecting soldiers were strict, he was selecting them after they were nourished by the Spiritual Spring Water.

So although the assessment is stringent, most soldiers who could complete the basic training would be able to pass.

Yang Zhenshan then enquired about the training situation and let Song Dashan get back to his work.

He himself then went to sit for a while by a well in the camp.

Every time he came, he would sit here for a while; for this, he even had a pavilion built here.

The reason for sitting here is naturally to add Spiritual Spring Water into the well.

Nowadays, he couldn’t possibly go to the kitchen to add Spiritual Spring Water since there were more than five thousand people relying on a dozen kitchens for meals. He couldn’t check them all one by one.

Nor could he add Spiritual Spring Water to every well. The camp has even more wells, with dozens of them.

Therefore, he could only choose one well and then pour in a large amount of Spiritual Spring Water to affect the groundwater of the surrounding region.

Yes, it is this lavish, this wasteful.

But it is a necessity, and fortunately, he now has plenty of Spiritual Spring Water to spare.

Not just in this camp, but in the Marquis Mansion and other camps, he does the same.

To be honest, doing so may likely change the water quality of the entire Chongshan Pass’s groundwater, but he doesn’t care about that.
