Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

Although the update didn’t take long, for the players who were eagerly awaiting it, each day felt like a year.

So, the moment the maintenance ended, a crowd of players who had been waiting for ages flooded into the game.

Kill monsters? Why would they kill monsters?

The first thing the players did was, naturally, try out the new features.

[Candle Bone Whistle: Blow the Bone Whistle to summon a Candlefire Spirit Steed as your mount.]

[Ability Unlock Cost: 100 Wax Oil]

When they first saw the new Ability, the players were all smiles and laughter.

But when they saw that unlocking it actually required 100 Wax Oil, their wide grins instantly vanished.

”Holy shit, 100 Wax Oil! With a price that fucking high, you might as well just rob us!”

”Nooo, I really don’t want to be a Prison Guard anymore!”

”When is this game going to get a payment system? Please! My liver really can’t take this anymore!”

For a moment, the players wailed in misery.

But of course, there were rich players among them, like Mushroom, who didn’t have to work today.

”One hundred Wax Oil? That cheap?” With a grand wave of his hand, Mushroom unlocked both Skills.

[You have consumed 100 Wax Oil to unlock a new Ability: Candle Bone Whistle]

[You have consumed 100 Wax Oil to unlock a new Ability: Lethal Strike]

The Power of the Spirit Candle swirled around Mushroom’s Candle Spirit Body before splitting into two streams. One solidified into a jade-white Bone Whistle in his palm, while the other merged into his body.

”Damn it, a top player is a top player. He just casually coughed up 200 Wax Oil!”

”That profiteer, Mushroom! Who knows how much Wax Oil he’s hoarded!”

”Capitalist! (spits)”

”One VIP seat on a lamppost for him!”

The other players’ eyes immediately turned red with envy.

But jokes were jokes. After they finished their griping, they obediently formed a circle around Mushroom, watching him expectantly as he prepared to demonstrate the new Ability.

Mushroom didn’t disappoint them. He first took out the Candle Bone Whistle, raised it to his lips, and blew gently.

In an instant, a crisp whistle sounded.

Azure Candlefire Power spread out from it, transforming into motes of Candlefire that gathered together, outlining a vigorous Spiritual Steed in the blink of an eye.

”Neigh...”

The Candlefire Spirit Steed snorted, its hooves burning with azure Candlefire tapping lightly on the ground. Its mane danced like fireworks, and a Flame flickered in its eyes.

Mushroom’s eyes lit up. He reached out and gently patted the horse’s neck a few times, and the Spiritual Steed gradually calmed down.

The moment the Candlefire Spirit Steed appeared, the players burst into an uproar.

”Holy shit, that looks so cool!”

”Aaaaaah! My little steed, wait for me! I’m going to go grind to buy you right now!”

”Is there a Hellish Warhorse like the one in Evil Spirit Rider? I want that one!”

”...This Candlefire Spirit Steed is definitely cool, but, and I hate to be that guy, aren’t we playing on an island map? This horse probably won’t be very useful, right?”

”What the hell do you know? Who’s to say there won’t be bigger maps in the future?”

”...”

The crowd of players chattered among themselves.

One player even couldn’t resist going right up and slapping the horse on the butt.

THUD!

The Candlefire Spirit Steed seemed to have quite a temper. Faced with this rude player, it delivered a swift back kick, sending him flying several meters.

Seeing this, the other players roared with laughter.

”Mushroom, stop petting it! You’re going to rub all the skin off its neck! Hurry up and ride it for a couple laps so us bros can see!” a player urged impatiently.

Upon hearing this, Mushroom spread his hands helplessly. ”You think I don’t want to? The game gave a notification: you can’t ride mounts on Candle Island.”

”Ah, don’t worry about that! The horse is right here, isn’t it? Get on and try it, quick!”

At this, Mushroom could only sigh and prepare to swing himself onto the horse. When he bought the Ability, he had also gained the ability to ride, which was very considerate.

However, the moment he sat on its back, the Candlefire Spirit Steed instantly dissolved into motes of Firelight and vanished. Mushroom, who was suddenly dropped, nearly fell over.

”Damn, that’s lame. They let you see it but not use it.”

”Come on, you’re lucky you can even look at it. If you could ride mounts on Candle Island, it would probably turn into a racetrack before long.”

Even though Candle Island had been expanded several times and was now quite large, it was still just a small island. It couldn’t handle too many players messing around recklessly.

What’s more, a lot of newbies had joined recently. If Luo Ge hadn’t also designated other starting points, Candle Island would have been packed like sardines long ago.

After that, the players naturally turned their attention to the other new Ability: [Lethal Strike].

[Lethal Strike: When an enemy is stunned or off-balance, seize the opportunity to launch a Lethal Strike. This has a high probability of dealing double your current Attack Power as damage, and an extremely low probability of dealing damage based on a percentage of the target’s Life Value.]

”An execution? This is an execution strike, right?”

”An execution what?”

”Just ’strike,’ not ’stroke.’ Let’s be civilized, people. Thank you.”

”Damn, it’s a nerfed version, as expected. A basic ability for characters in other games, but in Spirit Candle, not only is it nerfed, you also have to pay for it. Who are you even supposed to complain to about this?”

”Damn it, this isn’t right, is it? Another melee-only Ability?”

”Damn it! Why don’t we Mages have any exclusive Candle Spirit Abilities?”

”What kind of exclusive Ability do you want? Avada Kedavra Big Melon?”

”They’re buffing the Low IQ Knights and Low IQ Warriors again!”

”I really don’t know what’s going on in the devs’ heads. They take away the horse! Seriously...”

While some players were complaining, others went straight to the Fishman Coach to start trying out the new Ability.

The results were somewhat unexpected.

This wasn’t to say the Lethal Strike Ability itself was surprising. When players used it, they almost always triggered the first Effect—the damage multiplier. The percentage-based damage practically never happened. Furthermore, it was obvious at a glance that this Ability’s Effect was best when paired with the Block Ability.
