Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

After getting a basic understanding of Warfire, Luo Ge turned his attention to the ”Recovery Wax Block” Ability he had unlocked by Promoting.

Luo Ge went to the Spirit Candle, squatted down, and reached out to touch its Candlefire.

A moment later, some Wax Oil was consumed, and a mysterious power materialized within his Candle Spirit Body.

’It consumes Wax Oil again... two drops to fully replenish it...’

’Never mind...’

He had initially planned to take a small cut, but on second thought, he decided against it. The Recovery Wax Blocks would be a great help to the players’ explorations, so there was no need to be stingy about it.

With that, he stood up.

He held out his right hand. A bracelet had appeared on his wrist, adorned with three red, crystalline blocks.

With a slight tug, Luo Ge plucked one off and popped it into his mouth.

A faintly sweet taste was followed by a gentle wave of Life Force that spread throughout his body.

’A Red Potion Bottle.’

Luo Ge concluded.

He then touched the Spirit Candle again. A moment later, the Wax Blocks on his bracelet had changed to two red and one blue.

He took one and put it in his mouth. This time, the taste was refreshingly sweet. The sensation was like drinking ice water after eating a mint—utterly invigorating.

’A Blue Potion Bottle.’ Luo Ge shrugged, then plucked another one and put it into his mouth. ”Restores Spiritual Power and Faith...” he muttered to himself while chewing. ”And it’s pretty tasty.”

”With these Recovery Wax Blocks, the Xiaojuncai shouldn’t have to miserably gnaw on salted fish and crabs anymore...”

Luo Ge smiled, then glanced at the time.

It was still early. No need to rush.

Next, he began to explore the subtle changes brought about by the Spirit Candle’s Promotion and the various upgrades from Warfire.

On top of that, he still had to write the update announcement...

’The player info interface needs some changes too. It would be best to list Dodge as a separate item from the Recovery Wax Blocks...’

Luo Ge thought to himself.

He was still in the process of exploring the Spirit Candle’s Power himself; he didn’t know every little detail.

After a glance at the Spirit Candle Forum, Luo Ge didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

’...Oh, whatever. I’ll just post a CG to tide them over.’

This wasn’t difficult for Luo Ge.

The Spirit Candle had a memory function; all he had to do was convert and arrange its recordings. The CG players saw when they first entered the game had been made the same way.

「...」

Due to the server maintenance, the players couldn’t log into the game, but they had little desire to play anything else.

As a result, the Spirit Candle Forum was more active than ever before. The players had practically turned it into a real-time chat group...

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”Ugh, why isn’t it ready yet? I’m gonna die without Spirit Candle to play! (anxious)”

My Son Failed, But I’m On Shore: ”It’s all your fault, you brat! What kind of game did you recommend? This thing is way too addictive, I can’t put it down! (angry)”

Never Air Force Fisherman: ”I had a whole basket of fish I hadn’t put away yet when you kicked me offline! You better not have lost my fish! @SpiritCandleOfficial”

Fisherman Who Comes Home Empty-Handed Every Day: ”The game’s just okay, you guys are exaggerating. I play every day and I don’t see what’s so great about it. (sarcastic)”

My hamster’s name is Guagua: ”It’s Sister Yu! You’re hilarious, hahaha!”

Never Air Force Fisherman: ”@Fisherman Who Comes Home Empty-Handed Every Day... Honey, can you please change your name...”

This Venerable One Suppresses All Foes: ”I battled a Giant Beast from the sea for three hundred rounds, neither of us gaining the upper hand. I was on the verge of unleashing my ultimate Dao-slaying technique to annihilate it, but alas, the supreme power of the rules descended upon me. Now, I am reduced to this state. Ah, the sorrow...”

Battle Bliss: ”SO ANXIOUS, I CAN’T WAIT! I can’t get into any other games! Nothing has combat that feels as real as Spirit Candle’s! (going insane)”

Poems and the Faraway Place: ”I’ll just play some virtual Minesweeper in the meantime. (calmly sips tea)”

”...”

The players were on the forums, going stir-crazy with anticipation.

Ever since virtual reality technology became mainstream, most games and social apps have migrated to the new platform. This led to a wealth of content available inside VR headsets, and since it didn’t interfere with sleep, many people had even gotten used to sleeping with their headsets on.

For the working class, this was a godsend!

Mom doesn’t have to worry about me staying up all night to play games anymore! I can just play all night long in my sleep!

Of course, the quality of most games still left much to be desired.

This put Spirit Candle’s appeal in a league of its own. Some players would rather waste time on the Spirit Candle Forum than play anything else.

Just as the players were busy venting their frustrations on the forum, a post from the official Spirit Candle account brought the discussion to a sudden standstill.

Holy shit!

A version preview CG? A game update announcement?

They’re dropping a huge event right after maintenance?

The players were instantly hyped and hurriedly clicked on the video.

A deep, captivating voice began to speak as the players watched the stunning CG from an immersive, first-person perspective.

[Islands, the Ocean, monsters, the borders of darkness...]

[Through the tireless efforts of the Candlekeeper and the Candle Spirits, this secluded place has been tentatively illuminated...]

[And just as a reader turns to a new Chapter, the Firelight of the Spirit Candle shines upon it...]

A bird’s-eye view swept across Candle Island, followed by the roar of monsters, the crash of waves, the Flesh and Blood Algae within the Near-Sea Cave, and the bellowing charge of Candle Spirit Warriors. Scene after scene flashed before their eyes...

”Holy shit! Isn’t that me? Hahaha! I’m in the CG!”

Seeing a figure flash across the screen, Li Miao froze for a second before bursting into ecstatic laughter.

But he hadn’t been laughing for long before his vision faded to black.

Then, a Firelight began to glow, a single Flame flickering in the darkness...

The next moment, a large hand clenched into a fist.

At the same time, the scene transitioned smoothly to a muscular arm holding a Long Spear.

WHOOSH—

The Long Spear flew, Tearing through the air with a sonic boom, and blasted a huge crater into the shore!

”Hiss... Isn’t that the Beach Fishman’s beach? But it looks a little different...”

”Wait... is that the Candlekeeper?”

As the camera angle shifted, Li Miao finally saw the person who had thrown the Long Spear.

After their eyes met for an instant, the Candlekeeper turned and walked toward the cave, gradually disappearing into the darkness and leaving only his silhouette behind.

But Li Miao could see clearly that even with no Firelight around him, the Candlekeeper’s body still radiated a fiery glow...

[The Warfire has been ignited. A new journey of exploration awaits. Oh, Firelight from the Faraway place, please continue to press onward!]

The screen faded to black again as the CG came to an end. In the dimness, an azure firelight coalesced into three burning words—

Candle Spirit Warfire!
