Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

Storyteller was a man of action. After getting information about Casting methods from Luo Ge, he quickly found some veteran players to discuss it with and posted the details on the forum.

And it didn’t take long for the players to find the Blood Stone Demon Fish in the near seas.

After a bout of chaotic farming, a player soon got a Magic Battle Ash called [Blood Stone Burst] to drop from a Blood Stone Demon Fish.

Moreover, after the top player Poems and the Faraway Place verified it, they discovered this Magic Skill’s most powerful Effect—group damage!

At this, the few Mage players in the game became ecstatic.

My Son Failed, But I’m On Shore: ”Oh, heavens! Oh, earth! We finally have a Group Damage Skill to use! I, your Mage overlord, no longer have to be bullied by those skeletons!”

Shore was in tears. If he’d had this Magic earlier, would he have been chased around and hacked at by that mob of Living Bone?

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”I think you’re celebrating a bit too early. The Blood Stone Demon Fish aren’t that easy to deal with. (nose-pick emoji)”

My Son Failed, But I’m On Shore: ”Hah, you dare look down on your old man? I’m going to grind all night and farm this Magic Battle Ash!”

Brother Miao Won’t Fail the Exam: ”Ooh, so ambitious. Alright then, I was going to offer to help you, but it seems you don’t need it.”

My Son Failed, But I’m On Shore: ”Don’t! Godfather! I was just possessed by a rebellious spirit, I didn’t mean what I said! Help me, please help me!”

”...”

Their Schrödinger’s father-son relationship made the spectating players roar with laughter.

Meanwhile, Faraway found Storyteller and learned from their conversation that this information had actually been exchanged with the Candlekeeper.

’Hmm... so useful information can also be exchanged with the Candlekeeper... Another brand-new hidden mechanic...’ Faraway mused.

Just as the players were getting excited.

A new announcement suddenly appeared on the Spirit Candle Forum.

Along with it came an in-game notification for all players.

[Game Downtime for Maintenance Announcement]

[Dear Candle Spirit Warriors, due to some technical issues, the game will be taken down for maintenance today at 9 PM. The maintenance will last until 8 AM the following day. Please manage your online time accordingly.]

[During the maintenance period, we will continue to update relevant announcements. Please stay tuned!]

”Huh?”

”Major technical issues? Downtime for maintenance?! What’s wrong!”

”Is there a bug? I haven’t even found any, how is that possible?”

”What the hell, are you kidding me? I just got in-game to farm monsters. I was all ready to go and then you hit me with this?”

”Don’t tell me the game company has run out of money and is about to ditch us, right? If that’s true, just open up a crowdfunding channel! I can’t live without Spirit Candle!”

”Nooo! How am I supposed to get through the night without Spirit Candle to play...”

”I don’t wanna play that crappy Jianghu Legend...”

Seeing this sudden announcement, the players’ wails of despair echoed everywhere. They were all completely deflated, like eggplants after a frost.

...

But Luo Ge, the instigator of all this, paid it no mind.

This so-called ”downtime for maintenance” wasn’t because he needed to maintain anything or fix any technical issues, of course.

It was because he was about to Promote the Spirit Candle’s Tier!

...If he knew what new functions or Effects would come after the Spirit Candle was Promoted, he could have at least given the players an [Update Announcement].

But the key was, Luo Ge had no idea what new tricks the Spirit Candle’s Promotion would bring either... It’s not like he could be a prophet, right?

Besides, Luo Ge wasn’t sure how long the Spirit Candle’s Promotion would take, so he simply made the downtime last the entire night.

As for the players having no game to play... Luo Ge could only let them suffer a little.

’It’s a beta test, after all. Having some technical issues is perfectly reasonable...’

[Spirit Candle]

[Tier: Residual Ash (Promotion Requirement: 1,000 Wax Oil)]

[Remaining Wax Oil: 1,227]

[Spirit Candle Building: Spirit Fire Port (Tier One)]

[Anchored Island: Candle Island (Small, Isolated Island)]

[Candle Spirits Summoned: 90]

Thanks to the round-the-clock efforts of his little Xiaojuncai, Luo Ge’s Wax Oil acquisition rate continued to climb.

Now, he had finally accumulated nearly enough Wax Oil needed to Promote the Spirit Candle.

It was time to Promote the Spirit Candle’s Tier!

Later that day, the maintenance time stated in the announcement finally arrived.

Afterwards, Luo Ge mercilessly kicked a few reluctant players offline, reclaimed their Candle Spirit Bodies, and with that, his preparations were finally complete.

’Let’s begin.’

With that silent thought, Luo Ge closed his eyes and connected with the Spirit Candle’s Power...

[Wax Oil required to Promote Tier: 1,000. Consume 1,000 Wax Oil to Promote the Spirit Candle’s Tier?]

[Promoting Spirit Candle Tier...]

As the messages appeared one by one, the Spirit Candle in Luo Ge’s perception began to change.

Although the Candlefire itself didn’t grow any stronger.

Luo Ge could clearly feel that the Power it contained had been enhanced in some indescribable way...

Candle Island seemed to grow a few shades brighter.

Inside the cave, outside the cave, on the sea’s surface, and even in the tethered Near-Sea Cave, the Milestone Spirit Candles seemed to answer a call. Their flames all leaned in the same direction, like steadfast followers...

BUZZ—

The entire space encompassing Candle Island and the nearby sea seemed to tremble for a moment.

But if the spatial tremor caused by the Traction Fire had felt like a ”collision,” this tremor felt more like... fixation!

The Promoted Spirit Candle seemed to have made all of Candle Island more stable.

But that wasn’t all!

RUMBLE—

As Luo Ge opened his eyes, the submerged part of Candle Island... actually began to rise!

A new coastline appeared. A great roar echoed as the monsters on the island grew restless. Candle Island’s surface area had rapidly expanded by nearly half!

The Spirit Fire Port also seemed to come alive, guided by the Spirit Candle Power to automatically shift to a more suitable location...

Of course, this wasn’t its main function. It was just Luo Ge taking advantage of the Spirit Candle anchoring the island to expand Candle Island a bit, since the island was really too small.

[Spirit Candle Tier Promotion complete.]

[Spirit Candle Building unlocked: Sin Furnace]

[Candle Spirit Ability unlocked: Recovery Wax Block]

[Candle Spirit Temperature limit has been increased!]

[Spirit Candle]

[Tier: Embers (Promotion Requirement: 10,000 Wax Oil)]

[Remaining Wax Oil: 228]

[Spirit Candle Buildings: Spirit Fire Port (Tier One), Sin Furnace (Not built, requires 1,000 Wax Oil)]

[Anchored Island: Candle Island (Small, Isolated Island)]

[Candle Spirits Summoned: 90]

After getting a general understanding of this new information, Luo Ge let out a soft breath.

The improvements and changes from this Spirit Candle Promotion were indeed immense, and completely worth the 1,000 Wax Oil.

First was the new Spirit Candle Building that came with the Tier promotion—the Sin Furnace.

Luo Ge learned some rough details through the Spirit Candle; it was basically a building related to equipment.

Beyond that, the Spirit Candle’s Tier promotion didn’t just bring a new requirement of ten thousand Wax Oil to Promote again, but also other, more important functions.

First, there was information about the Candle Spirits and ”Warfire.”

That’s right. After the Spirit Candle was Promoted, it had given Luo Ge a method for the Candle Spirit Bodies to ignite their Warfire!
