Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

CLACK CLACK CLACK...

Fragments of bone clattered to the damp ground. Faraway’s figure was a blur of rolling and weaving, moving swiftly among a group of Living Bones, his attacks unbelievably fast.

Before long, as the last Living Bone fell, Faraway’s movements ceased.

He squatted down, picked up a piece of bone, then glanced at the Wooden Staff in his left hand, lost in thought.

As a top-tier player, Faraway had naturally been able to buy the Wooden Staff the moment it became available.

And with his Talent-boosted, relatively balanced Attributes, he could use a Magic Staff with ease, although its Power was somewhat weaker.

However, these ”Cave Living Bones” in front of him seemed to have extremely high resistance to Magic Attacks.

But their resistance to physical attacks was very low.

’Is it because of the white wisps of air swirling around their bones? Some kind of resistive power?’

The question rose in Faraway’s mind.

He then continued deeper into this branch of the cave until he reached the end.

Here, in an irregularly shaped square cavern, were traces of human life on the ground—scraps of rugs, animal pelts, and the like. Now, however, only remnants were left.

It seemed they were left behind by the Living Bones from when they were alive.

In one corner, an iron chest was particularly conspicuous, drawing Faraway’s attention.

[Rusty Iron Chest]

[Explanation: An iron chest. What kind of treasure could be hidden inside?]

Faraway didn’t have a key, but he had no intention of doing things the conventional way. He simply took out his Dagger and pried it a couple of times. With a CLICK, the iron chest opened.

A smooth ore, emitting a faint white glow, appeared before his eyes.

[Acquired: Demon-Blocking Jade ×1]

[Demon-Blocking Jade]

[Type: Item]

[Effect: Resists a portion of damage from Casters.]

[Explanation: The stranded people did not understand its true value, merely seeing it as a precious treasure to be locked in a chest.]

’Demon-Blocking Jade... The white wisps of air on the Living Bones must come from this. No wonder...’

Faraway stored it away.

Needless to say, this was definitely a good find.

After scanning his surroundings one more time to make sure he hadn’t missed anything, Faraway pressed on.

「...」

”ROAR...”

The Screaming Sea Anemone let out a final, pained shriek before collapsing to the ground, turning to Ashes and slowly dissipating.

At that moment, Shore, his great vengeance finally achieved, rushed over and viciously stomped on it several times before it could completely disappear.

”Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck... FUCK!”

After cursing for a good while, Shore finally let out a long sigh, feeling much more relieved.

You could tell just from his reaction how many times he’d wiped to the Screaming Sea Anemone.

If you didn’t enter its attack range, it would just retract into its hole. If you entered its attack range but stayed far away, it would spit gastric acid. If you got too close... it would swallow you whole.

If you couldn’t dodge, it was basically a one-shot kill.

For a squishy, un-geared Mage like Shore, it was pure torture.

He had to use his own body as bait to lure it out just so he could hit it with a Magic Ball, and he had to dodge the gastric acid in the process...

It was enough to make Shore sick to his stomach.

”Trash! Ptooey!”

Before leaving, Shore even spat on the Screaming Sea Anemone’s spawn point.

After doing all this, Shore felt refreshed and full of fighting spirit.

’This Screaming Sea Anemone was definitely just a way to put us in our place. The next monsters are sure to be much easier.’

Having played many games, Shore was well-versed in these kinds of tropes. Believing he had already figured out what was coming next, he continued forward.

Of course, having learned his lesson from before, he was a bit smarter this time, proceeding with caution.

When he came to a fork in the path, he made the same choice as Li Miao.

’I have to explore every corner of this map!’

Shore thought to himself as he advanced.

He remained vigilant.

But his next encounter lifted his spirits.

’Level 3 Skeleton Soldiers?’

’Haha, I knew it. This dungeon isn’t that hard after all.’

’They’re the same Level as the Fish People, and they don’t even look as tough.’

Shore smiled.

As a Mage who had mastered the use of the Magic Ball, he could already handle several Fish People with ease.

In his eyes, these Level 3 skeletons were just lambs to the slaughter, ready to be wiped out with a flick of his finger!

’I’ll clear out these mobs quickly and see what’s further ahead.’

Having made up his mind, Shore sprang into action.

He wasn’t a complete idiot; he didn’t pull all the Living Bones at once, just one.

Soon, the Magic Ball Shore had gathered struck the pursuing Living Bone.

However, the next scene made Shore’s eyes go wide.

The Living Bone, despite being damaged by the Magic Ball, merely faltered for a moment before continuing its charge, sword raised, completely unfazed!

”Huh?”

’How is a single Skeleton Soldier so tanky?’

Shore was dumbfounded. It was unbelievable. He never expected that the frail-looking Skeleton Soldier would actually be tankier than the Screaming Sea Anemone!

However, he didn’t lose his composure. After backing away a short distance, he began Casting again.

This time, the attacked Living Bone shattered, CLATTERING to the ground in a heap.

Seeing this, Shore’s expression turned strange.

’Did this Skeleton Soldier... just cheat death?’

Shore obviously hadn’t noticed the white wisps of air on the Living Bone, which was partly because he had to focus completely on Casting with his Wooden Staff.

’Whatever, as long as it’s not unkillable, it’s fine.’

Shore didn’t investigate any further.

He then proceeded to kill the Living Bones one by one using the same method.

But after killing about five or six of them, Shore felt that something was wrong.

’Something’s not right. I only saw seven or eight Skeleton Soldiers at most before, right? Why the fuck does it seem like there are more of them the more I kill?’

Shore was puzzled.

But he soon found the answer.

The reason was... these Living Bones also respawned.

The time it took for him to pull one Living Bone, kill it with two Magic Balls, and then walk back was roughly the same amount of time it took for a slain Living Bone to undergo Resurrection...

Since the two times were equal, the number of remaining Living Bones naturally didn’t seem to decrease.

This meant he still couldn’t get past the area he was trying to pass. His only reward was a few visible drops of Wax Oil.

”Fuck!”

Realizing he’d been wasting his time, Shore’s blood pressure spiked. Feeling like a complete jackass, he slammed his fist into the stone wall beside him with a THUD.

However, while his punch did no damage to the wall, the sound it made successfully attracted the attention of all the remaining Living Bones!

CLACK!

The entire group of Living Bones instantly swiveled their skulls in unison toward Shore’s direction.

Then, they charged at Shore with their swords raised, and they were surprisingly fast!

Shore’s scalp went numb. His remaining Spirit was almost completely depleted; he had no way to fight back!

Unless he wanted to get into a passionate brawl with this group of Living Bones, a one-on-many fist-to-bone melee.

A group of sword-wielding Living Bones ”dueling” an unarmed man like him...

”Goddammit!”

Shore swallowed hard, turned around, and began to run for his life.

Now, his only option was to run toward the Spirit Candle!

However, as he ran back, he discovered that the Screaming Sea Anemone had also undergone Resurrection and was now emerging from the water, eyeing him menacingly.

A wolf before him and a tiger behind, with stone walls to his left and right...

Shore subconsciously stopped in his tracks, drenched in a cold sweat, completely at a loss.

”Nooooo!!!”

The Living Bones closed in rapidly with their swords raised, Shore’s eyes filled with terror and helplessness...
