Bizarre Voyage: Summoning The Fourth Crisis

In this gloomy world, everything was unknown.

If an ordinary person were to arrive here, they wouldn’t even be able to perceive these unknowns.

But the Spirit Candle allowed Luo Ge to learn more about these items.

At times, Luo Ge even felt that the drops themselves were a manifestation of the Spirit Candle’s power...

Returning from his thoughts, Luo Ge focused his gaze on the Bone Staff and Glowing Stone in his hand.

The unidentified Bone Staff was the same color as the Devil Fish’s hide—a dark gray. Its tip was deep red, and the butt end was the creature’s slender tail, making it look as though it had been pulled straight from the monster’s corpse.

The Glowing Stone was a pale red, covered in a web of blood-red cracks, and it emitted a faint light.

Holding the Glowing Stone and the Bone Staff, Luo Ge closed his eyes and used the Spirit Candle’s power to inspect them.

A moment later, he opened his eyes.

The two items in his hand looked unchanged, but the information they displayed was now completely different.

[Devil Fish Tail Staff (Fine)]

[Type: Weapon]

[Explanation: From the corpse of a Blood Stone Demon Fish. It can gather and convert the wielder’s Spirit. Grants +1 Spirit on attack.]

[Devil Fish Blood Stone]

[Type: Special Item]

[Explanation: A special item from within a Blood Stone Demon Fish, from which the creature gets its name.]

CRACK!

Luo Ge tightened his grip, easily crushing the Devil Fish Blood Stone in his palm. A blood-red energy was swiftly absorbed by him, and the shattered fragments turned a pale gray, crumbling to dust as they hit the ground.

’It can restore a bit of Spiritual Power. Someone with a low base Spirit might even get a permanent increase... but it’s not very useful for me,’ Luo Ge mused.

His Spiritual Power had already reached its current limit, so for him, the Devil Fish Blood Stone’s only effect was restoring Spirit.

Still, he had only wanted to confirm its exact function.

After all, it was the first time he had encountered a monster that specialized in using Spiritual Power.

Next, he examined the Devil Fish Tail Staff in his hand.

After a moment of thought, he put away his Broken Sword, took up the Devil Fish Tail Staff, and aimed its tip at the distant surface of the sea, channeling the Spiritual Power within him.

The red glow at the staff’s tip deepened to a bloody crimson. A ball of light, like a mass of writhing bloodworms, began to grow larger and larger!

The sea by Luo Ge’s feet was stained blood-red!

He watched silently until he sensed the Devil Fish Tail Staff was about to reach its limit—

BOOM—

In an instant, the blood-red orb transformed into a streak of light, reaching the targeted patch of sea in a flash.

The power didn’t explode on impact. Instead, it pierced straight through the ocean, erupting into a brilliant crimson bloom beneath the waves.

The surface of the sea trembled for a moment in its wake...

”Magic.”

Luo Ge smiled faintly and put away the Tail Staff.

His guess had been correct, and so had the players’. Spirit could indeed produce what they would consider ”Magic” attacks.

But it required the right method.

Until now, Luo Ge hadn’t known how to wield this power of the Spirit.

But now, thanks to the Blood Stone Demon Fish and the Tail Staff it dropped, Luo Ge had a rudimentary grasp of the technique.

Furthermore, this meant that by imitating the structure of the Devil Fish Tail Staff, he could create... Magic Staffs!

This naturally meant that future players entering the game were in for a treat.

”Demons bring good luck.”

Luo Ge muttered to himself, his gaze returning to the sea before him.

Within his perception, the aura of a Blood Stone Demon Fish was coalescing once more...

’How could I know all the good things it can drop after killing it just once?’

The stars wheeled across the sky, and the Moon sank lower.

After another Blood Stone Demon Fish fell, Luo Ge put away his Broken Sword and the Battle Ash.

It seemed the Blood Stone Demon Fish only dropped these few items.

Shaking his head, Luo Ge steered the Spirit Fire Raft onward, keeping to the coastal waters.

He didn’t stop until he reached a calmer stretch of sea, where he held out his palm.

A Spirit Candle, nearly identical to the one in the cave, appeared in his palm and slowly descended toward the surface of the sea.

White Wax Oil flowed out, gathering into a solidified base that floated silently on the water.

Unlike the Spirit Candle in the cave on Candle Island, this one didn’t require much Wax Oil to create, but its only functions were to let Candle Spirits rest and recover.

Luo Ge called it a ”Milestone.”

Adding the [Resurrection] function or allowing new players to [Descend] would consume much more Wax Oil.

That might be an option for the future, but it wasn’t necessary right now.

With that done, Luo Ge began the journey back.

...

Time passed, and sunlight once again graced the skies of Candle Island.

Players put on their helmets one after another, lay down on their beds, and entered the game.

As the player count grew, the monsters let out excited wails, and Candle Island became lively once more.

Thanks to the ”friendship slots,” the steep price of 150 Wax Oil forced most players to start grinding.

Even Brother Yu, who had previously been passionate only about fishing, had started to grind.

Li Miao and Faraway both found this very strange.

”Brother Yu, you have a friend who wants a slot for Spirit Candle, too?”

Li Miao asked curiously.

After running a large-mouthed piranha monster through with his sword, Brother Yu turned around, a look of resignation on his face.

”My wife wants to play. She said she wants to see what I’m doing in this game all day...”

Brother Yu looked miserable.

Hearing this, Li Miao and the others instantly understood.

Of course. For a die-hard angler like Brother Yu, neither wind nor rain could sway him, but his wife was a different story.

At this thought, Li Miao couldn’t help but pat Brother Yu’s shoulder, a hint of schadenfreude on his face.

”That’s rough, Brother Yu. See, we don’t have to worry. We can play however we want, hahaha...”

Brother Yu shot him a look.

”You’re happy you don’t have a wife?”

”You don’t even have a girlfriend. How can you be laughing?”

”Er...” Li Miao’s laughter died in his throat. It felt like a knife had been plunged into his heart.

Seeing Li Miao’s smile slowly vanish, the corners of Brother Yu’s mouth curled upward.

Happiness doesn’t disappear, it just gets transferred.

’You’ve had your laugh, kid. Now it’s my turn!’

...

Brother Mangzi had been busy guiding a newbie lately, and that newbie was, of course, Bu Long.

He felt the rookie’s Talent was very promising, and their combat styles were a perfect match.

While he was slow to pick up offensive combat skills, his progress with defensive techniques was astonishingly fast.

You could even say he was self-taught, as there weren’t any veteran players on all of Candle Island who specialized in using a Shield.

Every time they fought together, Bu Long was able to withstand the monsters’ onslaught and create perfect openings to attack.

He was the perfect teammate in Brother Mangzi’s eyes!

Because offense was what he did best!

The two of them, one on offense and one on defense, were a match made in heaven!

Of course, Brother Mangzi had also discovered that Bu Long had a certain... ”quirk”...
