Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1632: The Sword Spirit Cult

”Anything else?” Wang Wei asked.

”Three more things,” Red Mask replied. ”First, the sect wants you to establish a Fate Fishing Pond for the entire sect. They’ve even left the materials for your pond to be connected to many Chaos Worlds.”

”Hm? That’s not a bad idea,” Wang Wei muttered. The Fate Fishing Pond was something he did on a whim to pass the time and test his luck. Then, it evolved into a method of distributing gifts, but the sect saw it as an opportunity to replenish its resource reserves.

”What’s the second thing?”

”More than 47 Yuan Epoch ago, the Tribal Sacred Mountain conducted an operation in which Ao Shen acted as a bait for the Darkness Chaos Demon God.”

”Really? What was the result?”

”He ran away.”

”The Saint didn’t catch him?” Wang Wei asked with a frown. It was not difficult to deduce that Lin Fan and Wang Guo’s status as investigators was related to the Chaos Demon Gods, meaning Maitreya was interested in these creatures, as they could be either a positive or negative variable.

”Apparently, the latter has a Domain-Ability capable of hiding from the Saint. As soon as the sacred mountain tore it apart, the Chaos Demon God ran away.”

Wang Wei’s eyes lit up. Although these creatures were currently weak, their essence was that of a Saint, so he was not too surprised they had the means of hiding themselves. Otherwise, Maitreya would have directly found them instead of hiring Investigators. Wang Wei’s interest was in that hiding ability, as it would do wonders for their creation of the new Heaven Deception Array.

”Any news on that Domain Ability?”

”I had a feeling you would be interested and tried to inquire, but even the mountain did not gather much information,” Red Mask explained. ”The sect has also tried a similar luring operation, but after that failure, these creatures seemed more peaceful.”

”Have you kept a distant eye on Lin Fan?” Wang Wei did not believe the latter’s fate with these creatures was over. Some of these Chaos Demon Gods might be the kind to repay karma, so they will, at one point, be intertwined with Lin Fan again.

”Yes, and many other people are doing the same. Lin Fan seemed to have noticed something and has been in retreat since the Ascending Pinnacle War and has been using an avatar to conduct his duty.”

’That’s what they called it?’ Wang Wei thought, slightly speechless. There are historians in each faction to record events and even name them, truly embodying the concept that the victors write history. And with these immortal entities, mortals or younger cultivators will have no chance but to accept their version. According to the rules established between Overlords, since this event primarily involved Wu Hong and she was the clear winner, the historians from the Origin Seal Continent are entitled to officially label this event.

Wang Wei did not focus too much on this issue and asked, ”What about Ao Shen. Is he alright?”

”He suffered moderate injuries, but given how the sacred mountain lost three Paragons, it’s sufficient to say he was lucky.”

Wang Wei nodded. He had an inkling of what Ao Shen was planning. Since the lower dimension, he was intensely focused on acquiring a Chaos Bloodline. Moreover, he had even begun developing the idea of following a pure-bloodline path. Ao Shen may not even have realized that yet, and once he does, that will probably be his Transcendent Path.

”What’s the last report?”

”The Sacred Mountain Paragons have experienced true death.”

”Hm? You mean?”

”Yes. While the Chaos Demon Gods only have Paragon Tier strength, they still have [Existence Hierachy]. So, once you died at their ends, it’s like being killed by a Saint.”

”That’s good to know,” Wang Wei squinted. Such information has significantly increased the danger level of these ancient life forms. ”Has the news been made public?”

”Yes, the Saint ordered it to be spread.”

”She’s still so kind,” Wang Wei muttered. This news can be crucial to loose cultivators, who are most likely the hunting target of these Chaos Demon Gods. It’s also quite helpful to smaller lineages that are not too well-connected.

”Since that’s everything, you are dismissed,” Wang Wei said. ”Oh, one more thing: have you prepared yourself for missions behind enemy lines?” When the disaster starts, Wang Wei will be relying more on his divination for information, but since Saints might be involved, he’ll have no choice but to send his Fate Shadow Guards behind enemy lines to acquire more information. He cannot put all his trust in whatever shadow agency that Ma Liquiu will create.

”I have.”

”Good.”

Wang Wei visited the sect’s Resource Manager, Grand Elder Su Zhenzhen, a petite woman who always wore a smile on her face, even when she was ruthless about how many resources disciples and even elders could use. For this project, the sect went all out. They handed Wang Wei Time Nodes Crystals, which will allow his pond to connect to numerous Chaos Worlds. Of course, these worlds were chosen to ensure no Saint was present.

They gave him the highest grade Karmic Black Water to increase the protection of the Fate Rod and prevent people from tracing it back to the Dao Opening Sect — no, to the Eternal Ascension World. They gave him a variety of other Fate and Luck resources to increase the odds of fishing and ensure the pond does not have any issues. Wang Wei spent more than 15 yuan epochs to establish that pond, and by the time he ended, the court meeting’s date was only half a yuan epoch away. He no longer hesitated and sent words to the Sword Path League of his arrival. A hundred years later, he arrived in their territory.

”Sir Seven Strike,” Wang Wei cupped his hand to salute.

”Sir Fate Dominator,” the latter returned.

”I believe you know why I’m here?”

”I am, and everything is already prepared,” Seven Strike Sword God nodded.

”Very well. Can we get started?”

”No need to hurry. We have prepared a feast.”

Wang Wei frowned. He wanted to swiftly find his father’s whereabouts, but he also knew he couldn’t rush things and be rude in this kind of event, so he put on his smile and nodded.

A swordsman’s banquet had its own unique charm. The room had two small, slightly elevated podiums. On one side sat Wang Wei on a cushion with a small table of food before him. Opposite him sat the Three Sword Gods of the league. Numerous Paragons sat in lower positions on both sides of the room, forming a rectangle, leaving the middle room empty for the entertainment act.

While pretending to enjoy the beautiful woman at the center and her sword dance, Wang Wei was observing the room. He immediately noticed many of these swordsmen had ample Yang Qi flowing from their bodies, a sign of their powerful fleshly bodies. He also noticed a good number of them still had that non-body refiner aura, and these people had some animosity towards the others, but they tried to hide it well.

He then ignored the people secretly observing him and started communicating with his old friend through divine sense.”Congratulations on your marriage,” Wang Wei said to Jian Wushuang. ”Had I known, I would have sent a decent gift.”

”We wanted a more private and intimate ceremony,” Jian Wushuang replied. One of the few things he admitted about his wife, Su Li, was that she was simple and direct, so she was more than willing when he suggested a small and intimate ceremony.

”Well, that saves me a lot of money,” Wang Wei shrugged. ”But when I get married, expect to bleed out.”

”Are you trying to tell us something?” Ji Lanfang asked.

”Hehehe,” Wang Wei just chuckled. ”What about you? When are you tying the knot?”

”I’m married to my sword, the Dao, and wine.”

”So, you’re one of the Sword Spirit Paragon’s believers?” Wang Wei said. His words made Jian Wushuang laugh uncontrollably while Ji Lanfang almost choked on his wine. The Sword Spirit Paragon was a legend in the swordsmanship community, and not because of his skill. He became famous because he married the spirit of his sword, which then sparked a movement or cult of swordsmen who cultivated a sword spirit and became Dao Companions with it, thus literally marrying their swords.

”I can only see you being one of them,” Jian Wushuang said.

”Shut up,” Ji Lanfang lashed.

”Don’t blame me. He’s the one who said it.”

Ji Lanfang was mortified. How could they compare him with these weirdos? ”Do I really give up the vibe that I would be one of them?”

”You kinda do,” Wang Wei nodded.

”Damn it,” he muttered, thinking about how he could change people’s perspective of him. He had found a few people attractive, but he never had the desire for any sexual or romantic pursuit. Plus, the idea of dealing with someone else’s physical or emotional needs sounds spiritually draining.

’Forget it,’ he thought.

”Lord Fate Dominator,” a Paragon suddenly said.

”Hm? Yes.”

”Can I ask for something a little private?”

’Here we go,’ Wang Wei thought. The real reason behind this banquet was about to be revealed.

”Go ahead.”
