Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1625: The Taboo Realm’s Truth

According to Wang Wei’s theory and conjecture about the state of the Transcendent Age, he believed that resources will play a significant role in the Quintessence Realm, even more than they did in the lower cultivation stages. With that thought in mind, he will not easily give up the ability to amass a vast quantity of soul energy from mortals.

”Do you have a time limit?”

”No, you can take your time,” Wang Wei replied. He understood that the war was approaching, so her primary focus should be on cultivating and strengthening her abilities. As of now, the Void Illusion Realm still belongs to him, and Ma Liquiu is just its user.

”Alright, then.”

Dong Lifen left. Wang Wei and Yan Liling spend the entire day talking and catching up, but on the next day, they also separate to attend to their affairs. Wang Wei checked on the development of his Fate Guards before heading to the Origin Seal Continent. Wu Hong was still busy with the sect’s affairs, but she sent a clone to accompany.

”We need to build a better Heaven Deception Array.”

”I had a feeling you would say,” Wu Hong nodded. Maitreya was too powerful. In front of her, no one had any secrets or privacy, which was a terrible feeling for those Overlords who were used to being at the top of the world.

”Well?”

”I’m working on it, but I’m already stretched thin.”

”I can help.”

”How?” Wu Hong looked at him. ”Not to demean you, but with your current array of achievements, you’re more likely to be a hindrance than help.”

”Give me a list of all the runes you think will be helpful for this array, and I will deduce which ones have the highest chance of achieving what you desire.”

”That would indeed drastically reduce my workload,” Wu Hong nodded. ”However, focus on becoming a Primal first, then we’ll deal with the array.”

”That was the plan,” Wang Wei nodded.

”When are you going to enter retreat?”

”Everyone in the sect wants to come protect me, but they are currently busy, so I’ll probably wait one or two yuan epochs.”

”That should be enough for everything to settle down,” she nodded. ”What are you going to do in the meantime?”

”I planted a few seeds for my subdaos to reach 100%, and now was the time to reap them,” Wang Wei replied. ”I also wanted to watch your battle to see if I can learn something. Speaking of which, you disappeared a few times, and I couldn’t even track your whereabouts. Where did you go?”

”Your question reminded me of something: I may have offended your grandmother.”

”You went to Samsara?”

”Yes, and we devastated the place. Luckily, it seems another Saint intervened and fixed the problem.”

Wang Wei groaned softly.

”What? Do you think she’ll despise me?” For their Heaven and Earth Wedding to proceed smoothly, Wu Hong must receive the blessings of all of Wang Wei’s family, and he must receive the same from hers — which is primarily the twins and Lie Peiqi.

”No, I don’t think she’ll blame you that much. However, the other Yama Kings already despised me. Once they learned we are together, my status as an Earth Emperor will probably be shaky.”

”They wouldn’t strip it from you, would they?”

Wang Wei wanted to say no, but he remembered that his grandmother was competing with others for the Netherworld Emperor Position, meaning it’s very likely that someone will use this accident to attack him. ”They might.”

”Now, I feel even worse.”

”Don’t. The position was just one of the many achievements on my list, with no direct connection to my path. Its other purpose was to keep Ying Zheng in check, but that’s not been going well, has it?”

”Maybe we should try to apologize.”

”We can try sending her a talisman, but since that meeting, I’ve only received one note telling me that she was alright and doing alright.” His grandmother seemed extremely busy, and it did not help that Samsara and the Yama Kings rejected visitors with a passion.

Wu Hong was briefly quiet: ”Do you think there will be consequences for your pillar foundation if you lose the title?”

”I have no idea,” Wang Wei shrugged. ”We still don’t know whether it’s Grand Dao or some kind of self-determination system that dictates how these pillars are condensed.”

”It’s probably not Grand Dao.”

”Do you know something?” Wang Wei asked.

”I discovered the means she controls the transcendents: it’s the Critical Hit Path.”

”That thing?”

”Yes, it’s one of the hidden constructs, and the key to full access is the Taboo Battle Realm.”

”Really?” Wu Hong nodded as she explained what she discovered when she used that technique, how each of the taboos corresponds to a layer in the Critical Hit Path.

”It’s indeed a means of control,” Wang Weu sneered. The difference between each individual in the Quintessence Realm is too vast, and this construct’s existence is a means to give hope to people of a lower foundation. However, people of high foundation must also ensure they spend time on understanding it; otherwise, they will suffer at the hands of those who do. Regardless of the reason, the crux of the matter is that Saints cannot completely isolate and stop relying on Grand Dao.

”Do you think it will be possible to jump realms to fight?”

”You mean like a Primordial Saint fighting a Tribunal Saint? Probably not. After all, even if a lower Saint could achieve such a boost, the Tribunal Saint will also be using the path to boost itself. Well, unless there is a way to isolate them from the Critical Hit Path.”

The two immediately became quiet. Such simple words revealed great information, especially about the nature of battles and tactics in the Quintessence Realm. More importantly, it raised a significant question: if it’s possible to isolate a Saint from the Critical Hit Path, doesn’t that also mean Grand Dao can do the same for them?

”Of course it’s a fucking trap,” Wang Wei groaned softly.

”Well, we haven’t confirmed anything yet, but yes, the world is one trap after another,” Wu Hong sighed.

”Do you think it will be possible to make up for missing the taboo battle realm after sanctification?”

”Grand Dao’s operating philosophy has always been that nothing is absolute, so there will probably be a way. But the price will be steep.”

”You’re lucky the exchange list provided a means for you to make up for it before it was too late,” Wang Wei sighed.

”True, and you should probably send that information to your sect. We wouldn’t want them to trivialize the significance of the taboo realm.”

Wang Wei nodded, and he immediately condensed a talisman. ”While we are on this subject, what do you think the Grand Dao Positions do? They seemed relatively lackluster, so I’m thinking their true effects might come into play in the Quintessence Realm.”

”I’ve also been thinking about that, and I honestly have no idea.” The 3800 Grand Dao Positions are lacking in their functions. While they can strip someone of their power, it only works if the challenger has a standard Dao as the position holder. If the cultivator’s Dao is unique, the position’s effect will only be a marginal weakening at best, which can be helpful at high-level battles. But the fact that it only applies to people of similar Dao makes it almost pointless.

”I think even the Saints are not fully aware of its function,” Wang Wei uttered.

”That’s a bold statement. Why do you say that?”

”Think about it: none of them have hunted Position Holders. Well, as far as I know, but I think it’s odd that no one came for the ones in this world,” Wang Wei explained. He knew for a fact that there was a Sword Saint due to the Mortalhood Trial, but that person never hunted Yan Hai for her position.

”If that’s true, it would mean Grand Dao is keeping this secret tightly to its chest. But once it is revealed, I’m afraid it might have an impact on a universal scale.”

”That means I should place more significance on the Fate Position,” Wang Wei muttered. At first, he wanted the position for the status and honor it brought. Then, he was slightly intrigued when he realized his own was possibly a Dao Overlord and might also be planning something with the All-Seeing Temple. Afterward, Wang Wei wanted it for his pillar foundations. But now, he realized this thing might be more important than anyone realizes.

”Let’s get back on topic: where else did you go?”

”I went to the Source Qi Space, Primordial Chaos, and Heavenly Dao’s core.”

”Wait, you went to the core?”

”Yes, and?”

”That means you saw how it operated its laws, right? Quickly, show me what you saw and be as detailed as possible.” Wang Wei could not hide his excitement even if he wanted to. Wu Hong quickly thought of something and immediately recreated the scenes she experienced during the fight.
