Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1626: Erudite Duchess

At first, Wang Wei thought his excitement was for nothing, but when Heavenly Dao used its power to push Wu Hong and Ying Zheng out of the core, his eyes lit up. He stopped the recording and slowed down everything. ”Yes, finally, fate is smiling upon me.”

The next level of his [Force Control Skill] that he needs to master is called True Heavenly Dao Control, which is a level of control of a Saint-like existence, like Heavenly Dao, who has the highest affinity with Laws and other forms of powers. With this recording, Wang Wei will now have a direct reference to learn from to create that level, which also means that his path to C-Class is clear. And with his high affinity with the River of Fate, it won’t take him much time to completely master its power and become a B-Class Primal. The best part is that all of this was possible before the war started.

Wang Wei suddenly kissed Wu Hong on the cheek. ”You are indeed my lucky star.”

”Of course I am,” she smiled. The Force Control was also valuable to her since its only purpose was to speed up Wang Wei’s achievement of C-Class. She can also use it to reduce the stamina drainage of all her Grand Construct Skills. And even after becoming an SSS-Class Primal that can casually use any six-tier Grand Construct skills, she can still use the technique to elevate her spell’s attack potency, maybe even achieving Yan Hai’s level.

Wang Wei grinned from ear to ear as he reviewed every detail of Heavenly Dao’s exile technique. He felt countless inspirations flooding into his mind, and he recorded them all. ”You know, your Dao Quintessence prototype is truly out of this world.”

The power she displayed in that fight was truly extraordinary, and unlike Ying Zheng, who relied on foreign aid, Wu Hong relied on herself to create those seals. ”You never told me how you created them.”

”The Erudite Duchess enlightened me.”

”Erudite Duchess? Why does this name sound familiar? Wait, why can’t I remember?”

”She tends to have this effect on people, no, on the world, but you probably read about the fact she has the largest library in the Chaos Universe.”

It finally clicked in Wang Wei’s mind. He once read about the [Infinite Library] that was said to hold all the secrets and truths of the Chaos Universe. He also heard of its creator and curator, the Erudite Duchess. However, he never truly paid attention because the records made the library and the duchess sound like nothing but rumors.

The sect’s history book even said that at some point during the Second Origin War, Qiyuan searched everywhere for its location to no avail. And he was not the only one. There is a significant part of the war where both factions began searching for the library, as they believed it contained the key to winning the war. But no one had ever seen.

Wang Wei squinted: Have you met her?”

”Yes. Three times in fact.”

”So often?” This woman was so mysterious, so this number immediately raised some alarm in Wang Wei’s mind.

”The first time was when I was studying my Universal Seal Innate Talent to turn into a scripture. It was probably a projection, and I met her when she was dressed as a man and on the way to take the imperial exam. We talked, and after a few words from her, I was inspired and created the scripture.

”The second time was when I wanted to build the artificial Grand Construct,” Wu Hong explained. ”I was traveling through Primordial Chaos to find inspiration, and I met her in a small restaurant in the Purple Silk World. After hesitating briefly, we talked, and she hinted at her identity. After explaining my situation, she pointed me toward a rune with records and data from people who also attempted to make artificial constructs.”

A deep frown appeared on Wang Wei’s forehead.

”The third time was when I had the idea of creating the seals. Heavenly Dao did something that irked me, and I remember the grudge we had. At first, they were to deal with it, but then I remembered Yan Hai’s Dao and chose to be more ambitious, targeting its boss. I thought of creating a seal capable of dealing with each of the fundamental 3800 Grand Dao Source.”

Wang Wei was speechless. This woman wanted to seal all the Grand Dao Source in the Chaos Universe. This was an ambition that teetered on the verge of madness. However, he liked it because she was so bold and even pursued her wild thoughts.

”As you can imagine, this was an ambition too grand for a little Primal. Then, the Duchess appeared with this strange artifact that resembled a pyramid with one eyeball at its center. She asked me what I saw, and as soon as I laid eyes on it, I entered a state of epiphany and designed the first version of the seals.”

Wang Wei took a moment to mull over his thoughts. ”This woman sounds like she’s you...”

’Puppet-master? I previously had the same thought.” Everyone is or can be a pawn in the hands of a puppet master. For Wang Wei, it was the River of Fate and the Cardinal. His three ancestors had the Trinity Venerable, Ying Zheng has Hongjun, and Dong Lifen has the True Dream Lord.

”You should have told me something like this sooner,” Wang Wei chided. He could have started planning early on had he known they had such an enemy.

”The thing is, I don’t think she means any harm.”

”Is this a rare moment where you are being naive, and I get to experience it?”

”No, I’m serious,” she said. ”Unlike these people who hide their intentions, after the epiphany, the duchess directly told me that I needed to help her with something once I was strong enough.”

”That’s not enough to eliminate her suspicions.”

”I know this, but my intuition is telling me she’s not nefarious. One day, she may even be a great ally.”

Wang Wei groaned internally. With such vast experience and spiritual attainment, he does not doubt that his wife’s intuition is superior to his own. However, when it comes to dealing with these higher entities, Wang Wei would not place his trust in pure instinct or intuition — he believed in pure logic, observation, calculation, and deduction.

”Alright, since she chose to be trusting in this scenario, I’ll be the paranoid one.” He did not dismiss her intuition. His prior experience has taught him that his cold and logical approach may not always be the correct one. Sometimes, he requires a more emotional approach. It’s fine if Wu Hong is wrong since he’ll be there to soften the blow. But if he’s the one who’s in the wrong, it’s also fine since she can preserve her relationship with the duchess.

”What did she ask in return?”

”She didn’t say exactly, but I’ve deduced it probably has something to do with the Hall of Records.”

”Do you think she wants to find it — just like you do?”

”No, I don’t think it’s that simple,” Wu Hong shook her head. The Hall of Records is the true most extensive library in the Chaos Universe, meaning that the Infinite Library is real; it can only take second place. Instead of just finding the library, Wu Hong would more likely believe that the duchess had discovered it, but she wanted to take the deeper secrets or even take complete control of it.

”Let’s assume that she means you no direct harm, but you should understand that whatever she asks you to repay your karma, it will probably be something perilous, right?”

”I know, but can you say that the flawed Dao Quintessence is not worth it?”

Wang Wei was quiet. The flawed Dao Quintessence meant Wu Hong had a strong head start toward becoming a Grand Dao Saint. It also meant a significant starting chance of success. And in each step of the Quintessence Realm, as long as she can make minor improvements to the seal, she will increase her chances of reaching the third step.

Wang Wei sighed deeply. ”Yes, nothing in this world can be gained without giving up something.” As a master of karma and causality, he understood this concept better than most.

”Anyway, whatever it is she asks of you, I’ll be there to help.”

”That’s why you’re my favorite man,” Wu Hong smiled as she caressed his face.

”Why do you sound like I’m not the only one?”

”As far as you know, you’re the only one.”

”Oh, you’re a comedian now?” he smirked. ”Two can play at this game. How about we open the marriage? I reckon there is a line of women who would jump at such an opportunity.”

”You can try — as long as you don’t mind spending eternity without balls or a private part,” Wu Hong sneered.

”Hmph, two-faced hypocrite.”

”Say you of all people?”

”Now you went too far and wounded my frail heart.”

”Really? Wu Hong smiled. ”How about a kiss to make you feel better?”

”I always knew you and I were on the same wavelength.”
