Divine Level Witch Doctor

Xiao Xianlin said with a wry smile, ”That’s a good suggestion, but how are we supposed to find the man who wants to be a Witch Doctor? This Great God is just too mysterious. Even now, we don’t have a single clue about his identity.”

Liu Mingzhang replied, ”I don’t have any good ideas on how to find him right now either. Aren’t you organizing a seminar? When the time comes, we can all put our heads together. I’m sure we’ll come up with something.”

”That works!” Xiao Xianlin nodded in agreement, then said, ”I’ll go contact the leading figures in the world of Traditional Chinese Medicine right now. Oh, right. I remember you’re close with Old Xiong and Old Hu. I’ll leave contacting them to you.”

”Okay, leave it to me!” Liu Mingzhang agreed readily.

”Contact them now. We need to get this seminar organized as soon as possible and give proper recognition to the man who wants to be a Witch Doctor!” After giving Liu Mingzhang a few more instructions, Xiao Xianlin hung up, opened his contacts list, and began calling the luminaries of the Traditional Chinese Medicine world.

Over twenty minutes later, after finishing his calls, he picked up his teacup for a sip. Gazing at the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* on his computer screen, he muttered under his breath, ”The man who wants to be a Witch Doctor... just what kind of person are you?”

”ACHOO!”

In the anatomy building, Zhao Yuan sneezed. Rubbing his nose, he muttered, ”Why did I sneeze out of nowhere? Is someone talking about me?”

Wu Yan turned to glance at him and teased in a low voice, ”Do you even have to ask? It must be a girl thinking about you! You’re one of our school’s idols now. Who knows how many girls see you as their Prince Charming.”

The words had barely left his mouth when Yu Ke, at the front of the class, flicked her wrist, sending a piece of chalk flying. It accurately struck Wu Yan on the forehead.

Before Wu Yan could cry out, Yu Ke, her face a stern mask, admonished him in a cold voice, ”Wu Yan, pay attention in class. No talking. If I catch you again, you can get ready to have your credits docked!”

Wu Yan clutched his forehead, feeling utterly wronged.

’Are you kidding me? Third Brother was the one who started talking first, I just replied! Why are you only blaming and punishing me? It’s not fair!’

Of course, no matter how wronged he felt, Wu Yan could only keep it to himself. Yu Ke’s nickname, the ”Ice Mountain,” was no joke. She might be beautiful, but her temper was as cold as ice. If he talked back or questioned her, the outcome would probably be worse than just having his credits docked...

Zhao Yuan shot Wu Yan an apologetic look before lowering his head.

However, he wasn’t looking at his textbook. He was sensing the streams of Wish Power flowing into his body.

This Wish Power came from the people who had read the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor*!

’I can’t believe I’m getting Wish Power so soon. I originally thought it would take a day or two.’ Zhao Yuan was very satisfied with this development. ’If there’s this much Wish Power now, I’m sure that once some time passes and the reputation of the *Outer Canon of the Yellow Emperor* is fully established and accepted, I’ll get even more!’

The only thing Zhao Yuan found regrettable was that even after receiving so much Wish Power, no new Talismanic Magic had appeared on the Information Leaf. But on second thought, he had already gained so much in the past two days; it was normal for no new Talismanic Magic to appear for a short while. ’As long as I keep getting a daily income of Wish Power, I’m sure something new will appear after a few days of accumulation!’

Soon, the two periods of human anatomy were over. After helping Yu Ke pack up her things, Zhao Yuan was about to head to the classroom for his next two classes, Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with his classmates. However, even long after they arrived and the bell had rung, the teacher still hadn’t shown up.

Finally, their class guidance counselor, Pan Mei, rushed in and announced, ”Today’s Basic Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine class is canceled because the teacher had an emergency. You can study here in the classroom or go back to your dorms.”

Hearing this, the students of the Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine Class 3 immediately broke into cheers.

No matter the grade level, students are always excited to hear that class is canceled.

After making her announcement, Pan Mei was about to leave when Zhao Yuan hurried after her. ”Sister Pan,” he asked, ”can I ask you about something?”

Guidance counselors weren’t much older than the students and were typically graduate students working part-time. So, once everyone got to know each other, the students would usually call them ”Big Brother” or ”Big Sister.”

”What is it?” Pan Mei stopped walking.

She had a very good impression of Zhao Yuan. It wasn’t just because his performance in Medical Ancient Texts had made her look great, but also because of his fit physique...

She had looked at those shirtless photos of Zhao Yuan more than a few times.

”Is our school’s medicinal herb garden hiring anyone to take care of it?” Zhao Yuan asked.

”You’ve really come to the right person for that,” Pan Mei replied. ”Just a few days ago, I heard Director Ma from the Traditional Chinese Medicine department complaining. He said they had hired two students to manage the medicinal herb garden, but those two weren’t diligent at all. They let the perfectly good garden become overgrown with weeds and infested with pests. A lot of the herbs that were growing well were ruined because of it. So, he just fired them from their part-time job and is looking for new people now.”

”That’s great!” Zhao Yuan was overjoyed and quickly asked, ”Where is Director Ma’s office?”

”Why do you ask? Don’t tell me you’re planning to take that part-time job?” Pan Mei shook her head and tried to dissuade him. ”I’d advise against it. Working in the medicinal herb garden is no easier than being an assistant in the anatomy building. It’s all physical labor, not something just anyone can handle. Besides, you also have to be familiar with the properties of medicinal herbs.”

Zhao Yuan smiled and said, ”Thanks for the warning, Sister Pan, but I still want to challenge myself a bit. It’s a good way to learn more, too.”

Pan Mei knew Zhao Yuan’s family wasn’t well-off, so she just assumed he wanted another part-time job to earn more money. She didn’t try to persuade him further and gave him Director Ma’s address and phone number.

”Thank you, Sister Pan,” Zhao Yuan said politely.

”Don’t mention it.” Pan Mei waved her hand. ”Whether or not you get hired is up to you. But don’t worry, I’ll give Director Ma a call first to tell him about you, especially about how diligent and hardworking you’ve been as an assistant in the anatomy building.”

Zhao Yuan thanked her again.

After seeing Pan Mei off, he packed up his books, planning to drop them off at his dorm before going to find Director Ma of the Traditional Chinese Medicine department.

Just then, the class’s Arts and Entertainment Committee Member, Yang Jing, came up to him. With a mock-serious face, she said, ”Zhao Yuan, the organization has a mission for you.”

Zhao Yuan couldn’t help but laugh. ”My dear Arts and Entertainment Committee Member, have you been watching too many war dramas? Go on, what’s up?”

Yang Jing couldn’t hold back her smile either. ”Well, New Year’s Day is coming up, right? Our department is co-hosting a party with a few other ’brother’ departments, and every class needs to contribute a performance. I was thinking that this glorious and great mission should have a part for you!”
