Ghost Catching System

He rested for a while.

A cold wind swept past, and Chu Hao looked up to see it was Xiu Lan.

It turned out that Xiu Lan and the other Fierce Ghosts had already left Gui Yin Mountain, and Xiu Lan’s family had also been rescued. Gui Yin Mountain could not hold living people; these rescued family members were all ghosts.

Overcome with emotion, Xiu Lan knelt and said, ”Thank you, kind sir.”

The other ghosts also knelt, kowtowing in gratitude to Chu Hao.

Chu Hao asked, ”Is everyone all right?”

Xiu Lan shook her head. ”Kind sir, my entire family has been rescued, along with the families of the others who were with us. We came especially to thank you.”

Only when Chu Hao stepped out of the room did he realize the entire corridor was filled with ghosts. There were the previously controlled Fierce Ghosts and the newly rescued ones. He said, ”The Yang Realm isn’t safe either. All of you should go and be reincarnated.”

Xiu Lan said bitterly, ”Our families have already missed the time to enter the Ghost Gate Pass.”

Ghosts who miss the time to enter the Ghost Gate Pass become Wandering Wild Ghosts in the Yang Realm. Unless a special opportunity arises, they cannot enter the Underworld to seek reincarnation.

If Wandering Wild Ghosts linger for too long, they eventually lose their Ghost Heart. They might become Fierce Ghosts, preying on the living to find a chance for reincarnation. This is what’s known as ghosts seeking substitutes.

More seriously, if they remain in the Yang Realm for too long, they can dissipate into nothingness.

Chu Hao waved his hand dismissively. ”It’s no trouble. I, the Taoist Master, will send you to the Underworld.”

He recited a spell, and the Underworld Merit Gate appeared.

Seeing the Merit Gate and sensing the profound guidance from within, the ghosts were incredibly moved; Xiu Lan was moved as well.

”Thank you, kind sir.”

Whether Fierce Ghosts or ordinary ones, they all knelt, kowtowing in gratitude.

If not for Chu Hao, they knew they would likely still be controlled by Gui Yin Mountain, which would have used them to kill even more people.

This act of kneeling was a gesture of heartfelt gratitude.

Chu Hao looked at Xiu Lan and the other Fierce Ghosts. ”As for you, because you were forced to kill people, you will still face a reckoning when you reach the Underworld. It’s very likely you’ll be sent to suffer in the Eighteen Layers of Hell.”

Xiu Lan shook her head. ”I do not plan to go to the Underworld.”

Chu Hao frowned. ”Then where will you go?”

Xiu Lan replied bitterly, ”We’ve escaped Gui Yin Mountain, but the world is treacherous, and I don’t know where to go.”

Another young Fierce Ghost said, ”We... we can’t go to the Underworld, so we can only linger in the Yang Realm.”

Not going to the Underworld meant they could only remain as wild ghosts in the Yang Realm, yet this group of wild ghosts was very powerful.

Chu Hao pondered for a moment. ”Since you’re not going to the Underworld, I, the Taoist Master, do have a place to recommend. However, you must all swear never to harm anyone again. If I, the Taoist Master, find out any of you have broken this vow, even if you flee to the ends of the earth, you will not escape death.”

Xiu Lan and the other Fierce Ghosts were overjoyed. ”We swear! We were forced to kill before; it was never our choice.”

”Good.”

Chu Hao wrote down the address of the Ghost School and told them to report there. These Fierce Ghosts were powerful and numerous; they could be of assistance at the Ghost School.

Chu Hao added, ”Once you are there, calm your hearts, perform good deeds, and atone for your sins. Perhaps then you might still have a chance at reincarnation.”

The Fierce Ghosts were ecstatic and knelt again, kowtowing to Chu Hao.

”We will never forget the Heavenly Master’s great kindness and virtue!” they said earnestly.

Finally, Chu Hao sent all the ordinary ghosts through the Merit Gate.

”DING... Sent 280 ordinary ghosts. Host gains 500,000 Experience Points.”

”DING... Saved ordinary ghosts. Host gains 20,000 Merit Points.”

So there are Merit Points now, not just Experience Points like before. Twenty thousand is a bit low, but it’s better than nothing, right?

This makes me think of the Ghost School. There must be many ghosts there waiting for me to help them transcend to the Underworld. I’ll be able to earn another wave of Experience Points and Merit Points then.

At last, it was quiet. Chu Hao rested for a little while.

「At noon」

The four of them drove back to Anli City.

「Two days later」

After Chu Hao and the others departed, the massive fire finally alarmed the county town. Many firefighters were dispatched, but the fire continued to rage, spreading to the surrounding mountain ranges.

Ordinary people didn’t know what this place was, but those in the Yin and Yang Realm knew all too well. The Gui Yin Sect was burned down by someone? This news shocked many.

This was definitely no coincidental natural disaster, as all members of the Gui Yin Sect had lost contact. After firefighters entered the deep mountains, they discovered numerous charred bodies.

The incident caused a sensation in the Seventh District. A large contingent of personnel arrived and sealed off the area.

However, those in the Yin and Yang Realm couldn’t stop discussing it. The news that the Gui Yin Sect had been exterminated was confirmed as true. This shocked the Yin and Yang Realm and caused a huge uproar.

The Gui Yin Sect was considered a third-rate power in the Yin and Yang Realm. It wasn’t a force that could be so easily destroyed. Coupled with rumors that some Gui Yin Kings were still alive, hardly anyone would have dared to attack Gui Yin Mountain.

”Who on earth did it?”

”The Gui Yin Sect has been incredibly arrogant these past few years, refining living people into spectral beings and committing such heinous acts. They were bound to face heavenly retribution sooner or later.”

”That place was truly a den of evil. But who could have done it? Surely not the Seventh District?”

”Unlikely. Gui Yin Mountain is too well hidden. We only know it’s in that region. If the Seventh District wanted to eliminate them, they would’ve done so long ago.”

”I heard it wasn’t the government that destroyed Gui Yin Mountain, but someone else.”

”TSK TSK... So ruthless. Not a single person from Gui Yin Mountain survived.”

The massive fire Chu Hao started had utterly razed Gui Yin Mountain. Combined with the Fierce Ghosts exacting their revenge, no one survived.

However, those in the Yin and Yang Realm knew that the individuals from Gui Yin Mountain who perished were mere underlings; the truly powerful figures were the Gui Yin Kings. Could the Gui Yin Kings have been killed as well?

「A month later.」

This mountain range had already been sealed off, with numerous large machines excavating the area.

A Seventh District staff member remarked, ”After digging for a month, we’ve only managed to excavate about a pound of Black Crystal. This stuff is incredibly rare.”

Another person added, ”You’re telling me! If we keep digging like this, we’ll pierce right through the Earth Veins.”

Over the course of a month, the Seventh District sealed off the area and began excavating Black Crystal. They dug hundreds of meters deep, turning over large tracts of land, but only extracted about another pound, underscoring its rarity.

Furthermore, the Seventh District claimed they had discovered a new mineral deposit, a story ordinary people readily believed. However, some in the Yin and Yang Realm didn’t buy it, suspecting the Seventh District was actually unearthing Gui Yin Mountain’s hidden reserves—the rare Black Crystal.

Black Crystal. This substance was so scarce it made many in the Yin and Yang Realm burn with envy. But they knew that with the Seventh District occupying Gui Yin Mountain, there was essentially no share for them.

However, certain influential groups, like Longhu Mountain and Mao Mountain, also coveted the Black Crystal.

To this end, members from Longhu Mountain came directly and began their own excavation.

This act infuriated the Seventh District, leading to a standoff between the two sides.

One day, the Longhu Mountain team unearthed an Earth Vein, and inside, they found Black Crystal.

”It’s... it’s Black Crystal! So much Black Crystal, at least three pounds of it!” someone exclaimed, overcome with excitement.

A Longhu Mountain elder immediately declared, ”This was discovered by our Longhu Mountain! All unrelated personnel, depart at once!”
