Ghost Catching System

Chu Hao quickly stopped the car. The three of them, somewhat dazed, ran over to see if anyone inside was still alive. They found three people in the car; one was struggling and already seriously injured, while the other two were completely dead. Chu Hao and the other two quickly dragged the survivor out.

The examiner, seeing the survivor was a driving school instructor, cursed, ”Are you insane? Letting a student drive like that?”

The instructor was clearly frightened, stammering in terror, ”I... we were driving very slowly. How could this happen?”

Slow, you say!

However, Chu Hao saw the examiner’s face turn pale. His lips quivered as he asked, ”Are you sure?”

The instructor clutched his head in pain. ”I... I don’t know. We were really going slowly.”

The instructor recalled the situation. ”This stretch of road is very peculiar. I had the student maintain a speed of twenty miles per hour. Just now, the speed suddenly shot up, as if it had lagged.”

There’s such a thing?

The examiner was also horrified. Seeing that Ankang Mo didn’t understand, he explained, ”You may not know since it’s your first time here, but there have been six accidents on this road, with twelve people dead.”

The two were shocked. ”Twelve dead?”

The pale-faced examiner, recalling something terrifying, said, ”It’s said that there’s something malevolent at work on this stretch of road. Many students drive here and get confused by these... things.”

Confused!

Chu Hao looked around but didn’t sense any Ghost Qi.

Soon, an ambulance and traffic police arrived. The accident had resulted in heavy casualties, with two students dying immediately. This matter was too eerie, so when the police arrived shortly after, they sealed off the scene.

More and more onlookers gathered, and people started murmuring.

”It’s this road again! Damn it, seven accidents in three months.”

”I heard this curve is cursed. Could it be that the dead are trying to find replacements here?”

”Stop it! You’re making my hair stand on end.”

The police were at a loss, unable to find anything.

At that moment, a car pulled over. Two men and a woman in black uniforms and sunglasses got out. After showing their IDs to the police, they went straight to inspect the bodies.

Then, one of the men in black uniforms approached Chu Hao and the others. ”Who was driving the car at the time?” he asked.

Chu Hao replied, ”I was.”

”Did you see anything? Like... Ghost Shadows?” the man in the black uniform asked.

Chu Hao waved his hand. ”No need to look further. There are no ghosts here; I’ve already checked.”

The man in black was taken aback. He sized Chu Hao up and asked, ”Young man, who are you?”

”Never mind who I am. If there’s nothing else, we’re leaving. We need to get home,” Chu Hao said.

”Hold on!”

The woman in the black uniform came over, staring at Chu Hao. ”Please cooperate with the investigation. We’re from a special department. If you saw anything, please tell us. It would help the investigation.”

The woman was attractive with a good figure. Chu Hao touched his nose. ”Which department are you from? Tell me; maybe I know it.”

The woman looked at Chu Hao, somewhat surprised, but didn’t hide anything. ”The Supernatural Investigation Team.”

Isn’t it the Seventh District? What the heck is this Supernatural Investigation Team?

”Sorry, but I really didn’t see anything.” Chu Hao was quite cooperative; after all, they were just doing their job.

Unexpectedly, the woman said, ”You’ll stay here. There are other matters to investigate.”

Ankang Mo was annoyed. ”We already told you we didn’t see anything! Why are you detaining us? This accident has nothing to do with us.”

The examiner nodded. ”Exactly.”

The burly man in black said, ”Don’t get agitated. To tell you the truth, you’ve been targeted by something malevolent. We’re protecting you.”

Chu Hao was suspicious. Are these people really professionals? I didn’t even notice anything watching us. How did you guys figure it out? Brother Hao really wants to see what sort of tricks your Supernatural Investigation Team can pull.

The wrecked car was towed away, and the bodies were removed. The woman in the black uniform came over. ”Please cooperate with the investigation. You need to drive down this road again at the same speed as before. Don’t worry, I’ll follow you.”

Chu Hao crossed his arms. ”If you want us to investigate, first explain things clearly.”

The woman in the black uniform glanced at Chu Hao. ”According to our investigation, whenever there’s an accident on this bend, another car is always present at the scene. If people who witness the accident here drive on this road again after some time, they will experience supernatural events.”

She continued, ”As you’ve seen, the two who died today were witnesses at the scene of last month’s accident. A month later, it was their turn.”

Her words sent chills down their spines.

Ankang Mo and the examiner turned pale.

The examiner shook his head repeatedly. ”I won’t go! It’s too dangerous.”

The woman in black ignored him. ”It’s getting dark. We need to hurry, and then you can leave.”

This woman is so bossy, Chu Hao thought. She completely disregards whether they’re willing or not. If we’ve really been targeted by something malevolent, we’d be the first to die. These people from the Supernatural Investigation Team are just using us as bait. If you had asked nicely, maybe Brother Hao would have helped. But what’s with this aggression? Do they think we’re easy to bully?

Chu Hao sneered. ”And what if we don’t want to?”

The woman in black’s face darkened. ”If you’re unwilling, then you’ll have to come with us.”

Chu Hao waved his hand. ”Sorry, I have no reason to help you.”

However, unexpectedly, the woman in black pulled out a gun and pointed it at Chu Hao’s head. ”I don’t want to waste any more words with you. Get in the car, now!”

Damn it! Did this woman eat gunpowder? Are these people from the Supernatural Investigation Team? Definitely not.

Ankang Mo and the examiner were terrified. Just as Chu Hao was considering making a move, one of the men in black uniforms also took out a gun. He aimed it at Ankang Mo’s head and said cheerfully, ”Cooperate, and we’ll let you go.”

The examiner was petrified. He raised his hands. ”Don’t... don’t shoot! You’re the people’s police, aren’t you? What you’re doing is wrong!”

The man chuckled. ”Police? Sorry, we’re not police.”

The examiner and Ankang Mo turned even paler.

Were they deceived?

Indeed, these three were clearly not members of any Supernatural Investigation Team.

The woman in black scrutinized Chu Hao, her expression unreadable. ”You don’t seem nervous at all.”

Chu Hao glanced at her. If it weren’t for Ankang Mo and the examiner being here, scum like you would have been taken down by Brother Hao long ago.

”We’ll drive,” Chu Hao said, also curious to see what was so special about this bend in the road.

They got into their car. The woman in black got in too, her gun still pointed at Chu Hao. ”Drive,” she ordered.

Chu Hao stepped on the accelerator, and the car slowly moved forward.

”Maintain speed at twenty miles per hour,” the woman in black said.

Chu Hao retorted, ”Lady, in such a hurry to meet your maker, are we?”

”Shut up!” the woman in black barked.

Fine, be arrogant for a little while longer, Chu Hao thought. Let’s see if Brother Hao doesn’t take care of you later.

As the car approached the outer part of the bend, Chu Hao scanned the surroundings for any sign of Ghost Qi, but there was nothing.

Suddenly!

The scenery around them warped, and the car’s speed instantly jumped to one hundred and fifty miles per hour. There was no mistake; it had accelerated in a flash.
