Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 2038: Chapter 2037: Deliberately Burning Her Face

Jin Zheyu stood up, promising each word with firm determination, “There won’t be a next time.”

As soon as he finished speaking, the phone rang. Seeing the caller ID, Jin Zheyu’s eyes shot out a cold glint. He pressed his lips tightly, long fingers pressing the answer button, “Hello.”

Wen Jin glanced at Jin Zheyu and then stood up, returning to his desk.

Not sure what the other person said, only heard Jin Zheyu reply, “I’m at Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory with the crew, come over.”

Then he hung up the phone.

Just as Jin Zheyu wanted to say something, Wen Jin’s phone rang again.

He changed what he was going to say, told Wen Jin he would head to the filming set first, and left the office.

Wen Jin stared at Jin Zheyu’s back for a few seconds.

Maybe he should help Jin Zheyu, though he isn’t suitable for Xiaocha, his feelings for her are genuine.

The phone rang several times before Wen Jin picked it up, his voice gentle, “Hello.”

“Wen Jin, I was just on another call with a patient, so I missed yours.”

Ou Yihan explained gently on the other end, Wen Jin’s brows softened, speaking in a gentle tone, “It’s been hard on you.”

Ou Yihan laughed on the other end, “With President Wen’s words, it’s not hard at all.”

Wen Jin chuckled, “Do you need to work overtime tonight? If not, let’s have dinner together.”

Ou Yihan, who was smiling a moment ago, started to complain, “I can’t make it tonight, I have to work overtime to discuss a patient’s condition and plan the surgery.”

“Working so hard, how about I pick you up after work and treat you to a late-night snack then?”

“That sounds good, I’ll call you when I’m about to leave.”

Ou Yihan’s voice was suddenly filled with joy again.

“Alright.”

Although Zheng Shirui was also warned by Wen Jin yesterday, it wasn’t as bad as with Jin Fengjiao. Wen Jin slapped Jin Fengjiao but didn’t lay a hand on her.

And she wanted to see Jin Zheyu. The other party told her to come to the factory, so she really came.

Jin Zheyu’s car didn’t drive into the factory area but parked by the roadside.

He was sitting in the driver’s seat, holding a cigarette between his long index and middle fingers. Even with the window down, the cabin still had a faint smell of tobacco.

When he saw Zheng Shirui’s red sports car approaching, Jin Zheyu’s expression instantly hardened, a fierce glint flashing deep in his eyes.

“Zheyu.”

Jin Fengjiao got out of her own car, opened the passenger door of Jin Zheyu’s car, and sat inside, looking at him with a smile.

Jin Zheyu lowered the hand on the car door, the cigarette still between his fingers, showing no intention of discarding it.

Instead, his gaze was deep as he looked at Zheng Shirui, “Why are you looking for me?”

Zheng Shirui smiled coquettishly, “I missed you, so I came to see you.”

The corners of Jin Zheyu’s mouth curved into a faint smile, which, to Zheng Shirui, was undoubtedly charming.

He leaned slightly towards her, his articulate hand touching Zheng Shirui’s meticulously made-up cheek. Unprepared for this move, her heart fluttered, and her gaze softened.

Jin Zheyu slowly leaned in as if to kiss her.

The atmosphere inside the car became subtle, with strands of ambiguous tension spreading as Jin Zheyu leaned closer.

Zheng Shirui blushed, her eyelashes fluttered as she shyly closed her eyes when the anticipated kiss drew near.

However, what she received was not the long-awaited kiss, but a sharp pain that caused her to scream.

Her eyes, which had been closed, flew open in fright, meeting Jin Zheyu’s apologetic gaze and the cigarette half-burnt in his hand.

“Shirui, I’m sorry, I meant to kiss you, but I forgot I still had a cigarette in hand and accidentally burnt you.”

Zheng Shirui was both terrified and in pain, her fair hands trembling as they reached for her face, “Did you just burn my face with the cigarette?”

The burning pain on her face reminded her that Jin Zheyu’s cigarette indeed touched her face. Would she be scarred?

Thinking about this made Zheng Shirui want to cry.

As her hand was about to touch her face, Jin Zheyu had already thrown away the cigarette and was gently caressing the burned spot with his rough thumb.

Whether it was the pain or his rough actions with no care for her delicate beauty, Zheng Shirui screamed again.

“Don’t be afraid, don’t be afraid, it won’t scar, it’s just a small burn.”

Jin Zheyu spoke lightly, and Zheng Shirui came back to her senses, lowered her head, and opened her purse to take out a mirror.

When she saw the burn on her face, she cried immediately, “Who said just a small burn? You’ve burnt such a huge area, Zheyu, if I’m scarred, what will you do, will you still want me?”

A trace of disgust flashed deep in Jin Zheyu’s eyes. Don’t talk about scarring, even if you’re not scarred, I don’t want you.

“It won’t scar. My sister got slapped by Wen Jin yesterday and didn’t get scarred. It was just slightly swollen this morning.”

As he finished speaking, Zheng Shirui, who was genuinely looking in the mirror, suddenly raised her head and looked at him in horror.

Jin Zheyu had a faint, playful curve at the corner of his mouth. Zheng Shirui stared at him for a few seconds, suddenly trembling as she asked, “Zheyu, did you do it on purpose?”

She couldn’t believe that Jin Zheyu would intentionally burn her face with the cigarette.

Jin Zheyu laughed, “How could that be? I just accidentally burnt you. If you’re worried about scarring, I can take you inside to ask Wen Jin for some ointment. They do have burn ointment at his pharmaceutical factory.”

Zheng Shirui’s eyes showed vigilance. She felt that Jin Zheyu’s expression was odd and a sense of fear grew in her heart.

Seeing her fearful eyes, Jin Zheyu continued, “Yesterday, you were with my sister, you must know why Wen Jin hit her? Tell me, what was the reason?”

“I, I don’t know.”

Zheng Shirui lowered her head guiltily, looking at Jin Zheyu in the mirror.

“How can you not know? Aren’t you and my sister close? This morning, I asked her, and she actually said Wen Jin did it because of Jing Xiaocha.”

Jin Zheyu appeared puzzled, “Could it be that my sister did something to hurt Jing Xiaocha? If that’s the case, she deserved to be hit. Everyone knows Wen Jin treats Jing Xiaocha like a sister. If she bullied someone else’s sister, it’s only natural for the brother to confront her.”

“Zheyu, I want to go to the hospital.”

Zheng Shirui touched her face, looking pitiably at Jin Zheyu, not wanting to continue the previous topic.

Jin Zheyu frowned, looking at the place she was covering, “It’s just a minor burn, it will heal in a couple of days. I have things to handle here, you should go rest.”
