Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1765: Chapter 1764: I’m Not a Child Anymore

In the narrow and enclosed carriage, Meng Ke looked steadily at Bai Xiaoxiao.

With his sincere expression, sad and pleading eyes, Bai Xiaoxiao felt that she would be too heartless to refuse this request.

All she wanted was a proper breakup with Meng Ke.

During their time together, Bai Xiaoxiao and Meng Ke rarely showed intimacy, but now, he’s asking for a breakup hug. Should she agree or refuse?

”Xiaoxiao.”

Meng Ke noticed her looking down, not answering, and he gently called again.

Bai Xiaoxiao raised her eyes just as Meng Ke leaned towards her and wrapped his arms around her.

Her body stiffened, and in her ear, Meng Ke’s gentle voice sounded, ”Xiaoxiao, I’m just hugging you, I won’t hurt you.”

She stayed like that, not pushing him away.

Being held by Meng Ke, besides feeling uneasy and wanting to resist, she had no other feelings.

But Meng Ke was different; his hands encircled her, and through the fabric of her dress, he could almost feel the softness of her skin. A ripple passed through his heart, and a certain thought inadvertently flashed in his mind.

The scent lingering in the air was a mix of her delightful perfume and her own subtle fragrance, like an invisible hand stirring his heart.

If he followed his heart’s desire, what he wanted most at this moment was a kiss.

But thinking of something, Meng Ke restrained the urge to kiss Bai Xiaoxiao and slowly let her go.

”Xiaoxiao, will we still be friends in the future?”

Meng Ke sat upright, smiling at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao nodded, ”Yes.”

”Then I feel relieved, Xiaoxiao. Though I don’t want to break up with you, I don’t want you to hate me either.”

”...”

”So even if I’ll be sad, I still let you go.”

”Thank you.”

Bai Xiaoxiao thanked him sincerely.

Meng Ke’s behavior tonight surprised her a bit, but she was pleased with this outcome.

A peaceful breakup is the best.

”Wait for a moment, I have a gift for you, let it be a breakup gift.”

Afraid she wouldn’t accept the gift, Meng Ke deliberately added.

Without waiting for Bai Xiaoxiao to refuse, he opened the car door and went to the car opposite to retrieve the gift.

Two minutes later, Meng Ke returned with the gift, which was not something expensive.

Instead, it was snacks brought back from Country M, and Meng Ke knew Bai Xiaoxiao wouldn’t refuse an expensive gift.

”Xiaoxiao, these snacks were bought abroad, try them out. These two are for Uncle and Aunt, even though we broke up, we’re still friends, you have to accept them.”

**

Bai Xiaoxiao returned home to find her parents still awake in the living room.

She handed them the gifts and simply explained that they were from Meng Ke.

A hint of worry flashed in Mr. Bai’s eyes, while Mother Bai asked, ”What did Meng Ke say, Xiaoxiao, regarding your breakup?”

”Mom, Meng Ke agreed, and from now on we’re just ordinary friends.”

Bai Xiaoxiao replied with a smile.

Mother Bai said oh, and it was clear she had some reluctance.

She still believed Meng Ke was a man worth relying on; if Xiaoxiao married him, he would treat her well.

”Dad, Mom, I’m going upstairs to sleep now, goodnight.”

Bai Xiaoxiao waved and then quickly walked upstairs.

Mother Bai sighed, looking at the gifts on the coffee table, regretfully saying, ”Xiaoxiao doesn’t appreciate such a reliable person like Little Meng; it’ll be hard for her to meet someone like him again.”

Mr. Bai laughed slightly, somewhat dismissively, ”Maybe you think too highly of Meng Ke, though he is good, there are many outstanding young men in G City.”

”There are plenty of people better than him, but the premise is, will they truly care for Xiaoxiao?”

”When it comes to feelings, sometimes you can’t force fate. Everyone’s fate is arranged by heaven, it can’t be forced.”

”Love can be nurtured.”

Mother Bai insisted on her point of view, recalling when she was with Mr. Bai, she hadn’t let go of another man in her heart.

These decades of mutual support, hadn’t she fallen in love with him?

”Xiaoxiao is no longer a child, she has her own thoughts and feelings. In the future, let her make her own decisions.”

**

In the room upstairs.

Bai Xiaoxiao poured herself a glass of water, sat on the sofa, and dialed Luo Haofeng’s number.

These days, they occasionally called, mostly sending messages.

Even if they called, it was Luo Haofeng who phoned her; she never initiated a call to him, not because she didn’t want to, but she worried he wouldn’t be in a convenient position to answer.

After two rings, Luo Haofeng’s deep and gentle voice came through the phone.

With a touch of joy and a bit of tenderness, in this cold winter night, it felt like a warm stream, making Xiaoxiao feel warmth in her heart.

”Xiaoxiao, has the annual meeting concluded?”

”Yes, I’m already home. How about you, are you still out socializing?”

Bai Xiaoxiao leaned into the sofa, picked up a pillow to rest her head on, and the phone was between her ear and the pillow.

”I just got home too. There’s a cold front arriving tomorrow, remember to dress warmly, don’t catch a cold.”

Miles apart, Luo Haofeng kept an eye on G City’s weather.

When it’s sunny, he’d advise her to enjoy the sunshine more; when it’s cold, he’d remind her to wear more clothes.

Bai Xiaoxiao chuckled; talking to the man she loves brought a hint of playfulness to her tone, ”I’m not a kid anymore, don’t need someone to always remind me to wear more clothes.”

”You’re not a kid, but I worry.”

They chatted for a few minutes, Bai Xiaoxiao then brought up the reason for calling, ”Meng Ke returned from his trip.”

”Meng Ke’s back? Did he come to you again?”

Bringing up Meng Ke, Luo Haofeng’s tone turned from cheerful to concerned.

This was the time he felt most powerless due to the distance.

”Don’t worry, although Meng Ke came to me, he was reasonable tonight and agreed to my breakup proposal.”

”He previously didn’t agree, why suddenly now?”

Luo Haofeng voiced his doubts.

Mo Xiuchen had informed him about Qing Yang getting injured in Country M; perhaps because of their rivalry, Luo Haofeng suspected more than anyone else that this matter might involve Meng Ke.

”Perhaps he couldn’t accept it previously. This time he went abroad with Xu Wanqi for more than half a month, maybe he thought it through. Anyway, he agreed, and from now on, I’ll have no relation with him.”

The breakup with Meng Ke made Bai Xiaoxiao feel much more relieved.

She wouldn’t have to force herself anymore, she’d follow her heart and give her relationship with Luo Haofeng a chance.

If ultimately they still can’t be together, it would at least be an account of the love she had felt for years.
