Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1753: Chapter 1752: Making Up Her Mind

A sharp ringtone suddenly pierced the silence.

It interrupted the intimacy in the room and separated the two passionately kissing people.

Bai Xiaoxiao released her arms from around Luo Haofeng’s neck, took several deep breaths of fresh air, and then hastily opened her bag to take out her phone.

The call was from her father.

Looking at the time, it had been an hour since her father called earlier. No wonder he was calling again.

Her mother must have been anxiously waiting at home too.

Xiaoxiao glanced at Luo Haofeng, turned, took a couple of steps, and pressed the answer button. She spoke calmly, ”Dad.”

”Xiaoxiao, why aren’t you home yet?”

”Dad, I’ll be home soon.”

After speaking, she hung up the phone.

Raising her head, she looked at Luo Haofeng but said nothing.

Luo Haofeng’s thin lips curved slightly, and he spoke softly, ”Let’s go!”

The journey from the hotel to Bai Xiaoxiao’s house wasn’t very far. With the late night, there were few cars on the road, so they arrived quickly in less than half an hour.

”You should go back!”

Before getting out of the car, Bai Xiaoxiao said to Luo Haofeng.

Luo Haofeng gently reminded her, ”Call me if anything happens.”

”When are you going back to City B?”

”Tomorrow morning, I’ll be leaving early, so you don’t need to see me off.”

”Alright.”

Bai Xiaoxiao opened the car door and got out. Before closing the door, she waved at Luo Haofeng.

When Bai Xiaoxiao got home, Mr. Bai was sitting in the living room waiting for her.

Seeing her return, Mr. Bai immediately stood up from the sofa, walked toward her, glanced upstairs, and said, ”Xiaoxiao, your mother is in your room.”

”Dad, what did you tell Mom?”

Xiaoxiao also glanced at the second floor and asked softly.

Mr. Bai patted her shoulder, saying warmly, ”I told your mother the truth, that you don’t like Meng Ke. I advised her not to force you since you wouldn’t be happy marrying him.”

Hearing this from Mr. Bai, Bai Xiaoxiao smiled brightly, ”Thank you, Dad, you’re the best.”

”If I don’t treat you well, who will?”

Mr. Bai smiled kindly. For him, Xiaoxiao’s happiness was the only thing that mattered.

”Dad, I’m going upstairs now.”

”Talk to your mother nicely and don’t make her angry.”

Mr. Bai smiled encouragingly at Bai Xiaoxiao.

Bai Xiaoxiao went upstairs, her steps particularly small and slow as she headed to her room.

She knew how much her mother opposed her being with Luo Haofeng.

In this situation, Bai Xiaoxiao still felt a bit guilty.

She had previously had a crush on Xiao Yuting, and after finally moving on, she unexpectedly ended up like this with Luo Haofeng.

Just before opening the door, Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile onto her face before lifting her hand to turn the doorknob.

”Mom, I’m home.”

Bai Xiaoxiao said in a deliberately light tone as she walked over to the sofa.

From the sofa, Mother Bai heard her, but she didn’t lift her head.

Seeing this, Bai Xiaoxiao’s smile froze for a moment but quickly became radiant again.

She went over, sat next to Mother Bai, affectionately took her arm, and pouted, ”Mom, are you mad at me?”

”Shouldn’t I be mad at you?”

Mother Bai coldly snorted as she spoke, giving Bai Xiaoxiao a dissatisfied glare.

Bai Xiaoxiao showed a look of self-blame, ”Mom, I’m thinking for your sake. If I marry Meng Ke and I’m not happy, wouldn’t you always worry about me?”

”You won’t be happy marrying Meng Ke, and you think you’d be happy being with Luo Haofeng?”

Mother Bai was genuinely angry.

Seeing Xiaoxiao’s change in expression, she seriously asked, ”Xiaoxiao, do you think breaking up with Meng Ke would make me agree to you being with Luo Haofeng? Let me tell you, that’s impossible.”

Xiaoxiao’s eyes flickered with sadness, her voice softening, ”Mom, breaking up with Meng Ke has nothing to do with anyone else.”

”Really?”

Mother Bai didn’t believe Xiaoxiao’s words at all.

She had just gone to City B on a business trip with Xiao Yuting.

And after just a few days back, she broke up with Meng Ke.

”Mom, what I’m saying is true. I broke up with Meng Ke because I don’t like him, and I don’t want to force myself to be with someone I don’t like. It’s unjoyful.”

It might have been the sadness in Xiaoxiao’s voice and her aura of sorrow that softened Mother Bai’s heart.

The sharpness in her eyes diminished slightly.

She sighed lightly and said softly, ”Xiaoxiao, it’s not that I’m heartless. Luo Haofeng’s mother isn’t a kind person. She hates me, and by extension, she hates you too. She won’t agree to you being with her son.”

Back in the day, Mother Bai had been harmed by Wu Jingfang.

She would never let her daughter suffer the same harm.

She understood Wu Jingfang’s ruthlessness more than anyone.

She would rather have Xiaoxiao resent her for a lifetime than let that woman ruin her.

”Mom, I understand.”

”If you truly don’t like Meng Ke, I won’t force you. But I must insist, you must promise me that you won’t have any entanglements with Luo Haofeng.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s face turned pale.

Somewhere in her heart, ached, ached immensely.

She forced herself to endure, speaking stiffly, ”Mom, don’t worry, I won’t be with anyone. I’ll stay with you and Dad forever.”

”Your father and I don’t want you to stay with us forever. We just want you to find a reliable man to marry so that you can be happy, and then we’ll be at ease.”

”We’ll talk about it later.”

Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile, pretending to be cheerful, ”It’s late, you should go to bed.”

Mother Bai stood up, ”You should also rest early. Staying up late is bad for your health.”

”Yes, I know.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled reluctantly, pushing Mother Bai out of the room.

”Alright, hurry and take a shower and sleep,” Mother Bai said, batting Bai Xiaoxiao’s hand away, giving a playful scold before turning back to her room.

Bai Xiaoxiao responded with a ”Okay,” closed the door, quickly showered, and lay on her bed before checking the message from Luo Haofeng.

It was a goodnight message.

Bai Xiaoxiao thought about her mother’s words, hesitated for a moment, and texted back: My mom agreed not to meddle in my affairs with Meng Ke.

The message was sent, and a reply came quickly.

”That’s great.”

Great? What could be great about it!

Bai Xiaoxiao muttered softly.

Her mother promised not to interfere with her breakup with Meng Ke but also made her promise not to be with Luo Haofeng.

For now, she didn’t want to tell Luo Haofeng about this.

He had traveled from City B to G City to see her in the late night; she couldn’t douse his enthusiasm.

After all, even if she was with Luo Haofeng, he wouldn’t immediately tell his mother, so why couldn’t she hide it from her mom for now?

She could check out what Luo Haofeng’s situation was like and find a good time to tell her mom later.

Once she thought it through, Bai Xiaoxiao’s mood instantly improved. She replied, ”Goodnight” to Luo Haofeng and snuggled into her blanket, quickly drifting off to sleep.
