Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 842: 841 wants to surprise you

Wen Ran lay on the bed, and her phone rang again. She didn’t answer it, but pressed the hang-up button.

She quickly typed a message and sent it, “Mo Xiuchen, go home and rest.”

“Alright!”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t apologize but simply replied with a message that contained only one word. Wen Ran got out of bed and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, just in time to see Aston driving away into the night.

In the early hours, she suffered from insomnia until dawn.

In the morning, Wen Ran stayed at home to catch up on sleep and did not go to the hospital, nor did she see Qin Mu off.

...
At ten-o-five, her phone rang. It was a call from Mother Qin.

Wen Ran hesitated before answering the phone and politely greeted, “Hello, Auntie.”

“Ranran, Ah Mu went back to City C today. Did you talk to him last night?” Mother Qin asked directly.

Wen Ran got out of bed and calmly replied, “Auntie, I talked to Qin Mu last night. He said he already planned to return to A City to accompany you, but he is worried that it would be too hard for An Lin alone if he left now.”

“Ranran, thank you.”

Upon hearing her say this, Mother Qin’s tone immediately became cheerful. She knew what her son was like; he could not possibly return to their side just because of Wen Ran’s words.

She just wanted to use Wen Ran to dismiss the thoughts in Ah Mu’s mind.

Although it was somewhat cruel to Ah Mu, if it helped him move on sooner and find affection in another girl, bringing her a hefty grandson, it would be worth it.

Shortly after Wen Ran finished the call with Mother Qin, Mo Xiuchen called: “Ranran, I have to go on a business trip for a few days.”

“Oh, when, now?”

Wen Ran asked with some surprise.

Mo Xiuchen replied gently over the phone, “Yes, I’ve already booked the flight. I’m leaving this afternoon and might not be back for a week. These days, if you go out, remember to have Qing Feng and Qing Yang accompany you.”

“Alright!”

Wen Ran didn’t want to make him worry and obediently agreed.

Mo Xiuchen was silent for a moment on the phone, and when his voice came again, it carried a touch of apology and a low huskiness, “Ranran, about last night, I am sorry, I shouldn’t have asked you like that.”

Wen Ran felt a twinge in her nose.

At the edges of her lips, a gentle smile emerged. She spoke softly, “Mo Xiuchen, take care of yourself on the trip. When you return, I’ll accompany you to a place.”

She didn’t need his apology; he was only frightened because he had lost his memory.

“Okay!”

Mo Xiuchen’s tone instantly became joyful, and even through the phone, Wen Ran could imagine his relaxed brows and bright smile.

Her heart also warmed up, feeling a joy akin to the blossoming of spring flowers. When she first planted those seedlings, she thought that if Mo Xiuchen could come back to enjoy the flowers with her the following year, it would be the greatest happiness.

But now, she couldn’t wait and wanted him to accompany her to see if the seedlings were doing well. After thinking through the night, she finally decided to help Mo Xiuchen recover his memory.

She didn’t want him to keep living in the anxiety of memory loss. If he regained his memory, he wouldn’t misunderstand or doubt her. When she learned of Qin Mu’s feelings, she felt Mo Xiuchen must have known in the past as well.

And now, he had lost his memory. The more she explained, the more she feared he would misunderstand.

As long as he regained his memory, all misunderstandings would be cleared up.

Last night, she was not unaware of his disheartenment, but she didn’t know what to say.

**

Perhaps it was Wen Ran’s words about waiting for his return and accompanying him to a place that made Mo Xiuchen, who originally needed at least a week to handle his affairs, manage to do so in just five days. On Saturday night, he flew back to G City on a redeye flight.

He didn’t call Wen Ran when he returned.

On Sunday morning, when Wen Ran woke up and opened her eyes, her gaze met a pair of deep eyes brimming with mirth. She exclaimed in surprise, and her sleepiness vanished in an instant. “Mo Xiuchen, when did you get back?”

Mo Xiuchen laughed softly, his large hand capturing her small one as she rubbed her eyes. A strange glint flickered in his profound eyes as they swept over her enticingly exposed body when she kicked off the blankets, his gaze intensely locked with hers, his voice slightly hoarse, “I got back at midnight yesterday. I wanted to surprise you, but it seems I gave you more of a scare. Am I that frightening?”

Wen Ran thought of something and hurriedly lowered her head to look at her body. With that one look, her cheeks instantly turned deeply red, and she frantically pulled the blanket over herself with her other hand.

Last night, she had slept in a thin silk nightgown. It was supposed to reach her knees, but after tossing and turning throughout the night, the gown had ridden up above her knees. That alone was not an issue, but unfortunately, she had a habit of rarely kicking off the blanket while sleeping. However, upon waking up, before even opening her eyes, she liked to kick off the blanket.

Today, she had inadvertently done so.

Just before she opened her eyes, she had kicked off the blanket completely.

At that moment, her delicate body was fully exposed to someone’s view.

Mo Xiuchen saw her frantically pulling up the blanket. His gaze deepened a shade, his Adam’s apple seductively moving, and a fire seemed to light within him, suddenly making his whole body feel unbearably hot.

“Ranran!”

He murmured softly, his voice even huskier than before, filled with a suppressed yearning. Wen Ran could distinctly feel the scorching temperature of his palm, her heart trembling.

She dared not meet his eyes, that familiar desire she had seen countless times before.

Mo Xiuchen’s heated gaze moved from her blushing cheeks to her pale neck. There, except for a necklace, the rest of her skin also flushed with a seductive pale pink. The heat inside him surged wildly, igniting a strong impulse to lift the blanket she had just covered herself with and to savor more of the beautiful view.

He couldn’t help but lean over, his hot breath approaching her.

The air in the room seemed to thin all at once, filled with an ambiguous tension, rendering Wen Ran unresponsive. Her mind felt dizzy as his breath got nearer, her whole person in a daze.

Just as Mo Xiuchen was about to kiss her lips, a sharp ringtone from a cell phone cut through the room’s ambiguity, and his approach halted abruptly.

Wen Ran was startled, her already deeply flushed face instantly seeming as if it were on fire, burning hot.

“Mo Xiuchen, can you step out for a moment? I need to get out of bed.”

Her voice trembled, clearly flustered and bashful. Mo Xiuchen glanced at her cellphone on the bedside table, suppressed his urge to kiss her, stood up, and gently said, “I’ll wait outside for you.”

“Okay.”

Wen Ran dared not look into his eyes.

Strangely, this man was her husband. They had been intimate countless times in the past, and she used to wake up in his arms every morning. Yet, after having been apart for just a few months, she felt so shy in his presence.

Seeing Mo Xiuchen leave the bedroom, Wen Ran took a deep breath, touched her burning cheeks, and picked up the phone to answer the call,
