Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 813: 812 Don’t blame me for not cherishing old memories

Wen Ran suppressed the tears welling up in her eyes, her lips tightly pursed as she looked up at Mo Xiuchen, gazing into his deep eyes filled with distress and threads of tenderness.

A smile appeared on her lips, but it was a smile that seeped with a heartbreaking sadness, “Mo Xiuchen, since you now know why I’ve been avoiding you, please don’t force me, okay? I don’t know if there will come a day when I don’t care about the vows I made, and get back together with you.”

“But I can’t do that now.”

“I understand, I won’t force you.”

Mo Xiuchen reached out to grasp her soft hand. This gesture felt so familiar and natural to him, his grip firm yet gentle, one that Wen Ran could not pull away from.

“Ranran, as long as you don’t avoid me in the future, I won’t force you,” he said.

...
“I won’t avoid you.”

Wen Ran responded softly, not willing to avoid him, not just because she wanted to see him, but also because she didn’t want to see the look of loss in his eyes.

She couldn’t bear to see the man she loved upset, even the slightest bit of desolation would make her feel suffocatingly heartbroken.

“Okay, then it’s settled. Since I’ve lost my memory, just treat me as an ordinary friend for now.”

Wen Ran looked down, her gaze landing on his large hand holding hers. Mo Xiuchen chuckled, let go of her hand, and reached toward her cheek. As she instinctively dodged, he said in a low voice, “Ranran, don’t move.”

Wen Ran was slightly startled, but her body didn’t move away any further.

The smile on Mo Xiuchen’s lips deepened as he extended his long fingers to her face, gently swept her hair behind her ear, and said cheerfully, “Ranran, I’ll take you home.”

**

Throughout the journey, Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen did not speak again, the atmosphere inside the car was peaceful and warm, devoid of any awkwardness or strangeness.

It seemed that as long as the two of them were together, no matter how they interacted, it always presented an enviable and idyllic scene.

Upon reaching the Wen Family home, Wen Jin was already waiting outside. Wen Ran got out of the car and watched as Mo Xiuchen drove away before she and Wen Jin entered the house.

After driving a distance, Mo Xiuchen pulled over to the side of the road and stopped.

He took out his cell phone, dialed Luo Haofeng’s number, and after a few rings, Luo Haofeng’s clear and cheerful voice came through, tinged with a hint of joy, “Hello, Mo Xiuchen!”

Mo Xiuchen pushed the seat back a little, leaned his tall body back lazily, and his voice, laced with a touch of melancholy and indolence, spilled from his lips, “Do you know Qi Meiling?”

On the other end of the line, Luo Haofeng was taken aback, then answered very seriously, “I know her, what about it, Mo Xiuchen?”

Could it be that Qi Meiling had done something in G City?

Had she crossed paths with Mo Xiuchen? As Luo Haofeng asked this question, his brain whirred with thoughts.

Mo Xiuchen snorted coldly, “She bullied Ranran tonight.”

“You’re saying Qi Meiling bullied Wen Ran?”

Luo Haofeng was so shocked he parroted back the words.

“Yes, she bullied Ranran. I heard she mistook Ranran for Bai Xiaoxiao. Luo Haofeng, I don’t care what your relationship with Qi Meiling is, you’d better warn her not to appear in front of Ranran again. If she does anything else, don’t blame me for not considering old friendships.”

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was devoid of emotion, sending a shiver through Luo Haofeng.

This was indeed typical of Mo Xiuchen, not changed at all. It didn’t matter that he’d lost his memory and didn’t remember their past friendship; even if he hadn’t lost his memory, anyone who troubled his Ranran would find him uncompromising and unforgiving.

“Mo Xiuchen, I don’t have much of a relationship with Qi Meiling, so don’t be angry. The next time I see her, I’ll definitely warn her to stay away from Ranran and never to trouble her again,” Luo Haofeng quickly assured.

Luo Haofeng repeatedly assured Mo Xiuchen that he was well aware of Mo Xiuchen’s capabilities. As for Qi Meiling, that somewhat simple-minded woman, despite knowing a few martial arts moves, even her gentleness was an act, and there was truly nothing about her worth mentioning.

He really had no interest in her whatsoever.

His mother wanted him to marry Qi Meiling simply because she coveted the Qi Family’s company…

Mo Xiuchen gave a grunt and then asked, “Is Haochen busy right now?”

“Not busy.”

Luo Haofeng replied very swiftly, like a subordinate being assessed by his boss, and even his tone was respectful.

Mo Xiuchen’s large hand subconsciously toyed with the steering wheel, the sternness between his brows easing slightly as he spoke indifferently, “Since Haochen isn’t busy, then have An Lin call Ranran and tell her to rest in G City for a few more days and not to rush back to work so soon.”

“Xiuchen, have you and Ranran made up?”

Luo Haofeng keenly sensed something, but Mo Xiuchen quelled his curiosity, “Don’t make wild guesses. I’m just worried that Ranran is working too hard and will wear herself out.”

“Xiuchen, Ranran won’t simply listen to others. It’s no use for An Lin to call. Instead, I have a suggestion that will guarantee you keep Ranran in G City.”

“What’s the suggestion?”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed slightly, and his voice lifted subtly.

“Xiuchen, why don’t you pretend to be sick? Even though Ranran seems to ignore you on the surface, she cares about you the most. As long as you pretend to be ill, she definitely won’t leave.”

“Pretend to be sick?”

Mo Xiuchen frowned. What a lousy idea. Although he wanted to keep Ranran with him, pretending to be sick and worrying her was not something he felt good about.

“Yeah, anyway, you’ve had surgery before, so it’s normal to not be in good health and get a cold or something. Oh, right, and then just have Ah Kai support you in this.”

“Have Ah Kai support me?”

Mo Xiuchen’s brows furrowed tightly. Why did it feel so familiar to him?

It gave him the feeling that he had once deceived Ranran this way. Somewhat dazed, he asked, “Have I used this method to deceive Ranran before?”

“Xiuchen, have you remembered?”

Upon hearing his words, Luo Haofeng’s voice instantly rose excitedly by several decibels.

Qin Mu, sitting beside him, looked shocked. His narrow eyes fixated intently on Luo Haofeng’s phone. The suggestion had actually come from Qin Mu.

Mo Xiuchen, with his hand on the steering wheel, lifted it to his forehead, his long fingers lightly massaging his temples, and replied somberly, “No, I just find it familiar, as though I’ve done such a thing before.”

As his voice trailed off, Qin Mu’s voice came through the phone, “Xiuchen, go to Ah Kai tomorrow and tell him to cooperate with you in pretending to be ill. Back when Ranran was about to leave you, you used that method. Perhaps, replaying the scene might help you recover your memory.”

Mo Xiuchen pondered for a moment and decided to try their suggestion, “Alright, I’ll go see Ah Kai tomorrow.”

“Mm, I hope you can recover your memory soon.”

Qin Mu’s voice was warm and calm.

Mo Xiuchen felt their concern and a hint of warmth rose in his heart.

His thin lips curved slightly upwards, his voice now much more lighthearted and pleasant than before, conveying deep determination, “I will remember.”
