Although Qin Mu was assigned to be Wen Ran’s personal assistant, he did not show the typical respect a subordinate would show their leader in her presence, but instead maintained a distant aloofness from her.

Once the BMW hit the road, he turned his head to look at Wen Ran on the passenger seat, holding a lunch box. He stowed away the brief flicker of curiosity in his eyes and asked indifferently, “Are you going home, Miss Wen, or somewhere else?”

If he guessed correctly, what she was holding should be sweet and sour pork ribs, one of MO Xiuchen’s favorite home-cooked dishes.

Wen Ran was looking down at the bag in her hands, hesitant about whether or not to go to the cemetery.

At Qin Mu’s question, she looked up at him subconsciously. All she saw was his profile, as cold and somber as the night, and after a moment of silence, she replied, “Can you take me home, please?”

Noticing the emotion in her tone, Qin Mu furrowed his eyebrows slightly, turned his head to look at her and said, “Feel free to tell me where you want to go. It’s still early.”

Wen Ran’s eyes twinkled briefly, and she honestly admitted, “I was thinking of going to the graveyard.”

Caught off guard by her response, Qin Mu seemed unable to comprehend why she would want to visit the cemetery late at night. She could visit her parents during the day, he thought. He was about to speak when Wen Ran’s phone suddenly rang.

The call was from MO Xiuchen, asking her where she was.

From nearby, Qin Mu couldn’t make out what MO Xiuchen was saying, only hearing Wen Ran’s response, “I’ll be back soon… Yes, I bumped into Assistant Qin, and he’s giving me a ride home…”

Noticing her dilemma looking at the sweet and sour pork ribs after she hung up, Qin Mu suddenly suggested, “If you’re going to the cemetery just to drop off these sweet and sour pork ribs, we can stop there first before I take you home.”

“Okay, thanks for your trouble.”

Most of the time, Wen Ran was the type of girl who always did whatever came to her mind. She had the idea of going to the cemetery, and if she didn’t fulfill this wish, it would continue to weigh on her mind.

Moreover, if she didn’t take the sweet and sour pork ribs to the cemetery, she wouldn’t know what else to do with it.

Upon reaching the cemetery, Wen Ran suggested that Qin Mu could wait in the car while she went out.

Gazing out the car window at the dark and desolate cemetery, Qin Mu opened the car door and said, “It’s quite dark outside. I’ll go with you. Don’t worry, I won’t eavesdrop on your conversation with your parents.”

Misunderstanding his intention, Wen Ran quickly clarified, “That’s not what I meant. I just didn’t want to trouble you.”

“I’m already in trouble, so I don’t mind a bit more.”

After saying this, Qin Mu got out of the car without hesitation.

Wen Ran furrowed her eyebrows, watching him exit the vehicle. She pursed her lips before following suit and getting out of the car.

The graveyard, steeped in silence at night, was tinged with a sense of ominous desolation. The temperature was noticeably lower than in the city, and the wind gusting on her face carried a biting chill.

Wen Ran, dressed in thin clothing, felt colder with every step she took up the marble steps. Halfway up, she shivered involuntarily from the cold.

Seeing this, Qin Mu, who was walking behind her, without hesitation, took off his blazer and handed it over to her, saying calmly, “You should put this on.”

Wen Ran hesitated, looking at the jacket offered to her and then at Qin Mu, who was left wearing nothing but a shirt. She shook her head, “You wear it. I don’t want it!”

“I don’t want to be nagged by Li Qian, and I definitely do not want to manage your pharmaceutical factory for you indefinitely.”

Qin Mu’s tone was harsh, and his hand, holding the jacket, stayed put stubbornly. He seemed prepared to stand there indefinitely until she accepted it.

In the morning, MO Xiuchen had commanded him to help manage the Wen Family’s pharmaceutical factory for a few days. Initially, Qin Mu didn’t understand why MO Xiuchen would ask him to do that. But then he overheard a conversation between MO Xiuchen and Nanny Zhang about having food delivered to the Wen residence. That’s when he understood why..
