Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 198: Chapter 192: Air Battle: Raylo vs. Angel of Death

Raylo swung himself onto Baofeng’s back, and Moonlight leaped nimbly, landing in front of him.

Raylo took a deep breath, his will to fight and confidence burning ever hotter.

He gently stroked Baofeng’s neck, feeling the surging Life Force beneath his palm.

”Baofeng, soon, the entire Fiery Sun Kingdom will know your name.”

”ROAR!”

Baofeng responded with a long cry that could pierce the clouds and shatter stone.

Coal Ball suddenly flickered, appearing on Raylo’s lap.

The rolling soundwaves of its high-pitched, jumbled shriek caused the banners of the army formation below to flutter violently.

With a beat of its wings, a powerful downdraft kicked up a cloud of dust as its massive body shot skyward like an arrow loosed from a bow, fearlessly piercing the clouds.

Just as Baofeng climbed to a height of one hundred meters above the battlefield and secured a favorable position, there was finally movement from the Fiery Sun Kingdom’s army formation.

There was no roar of a Giant Beast, nor the gale from a mount’s beating wings.

A golden figure appeared abruptly, tearing straight through the air as it soared toward the sky.

He wasn’t riding a mount.

Behind him, a pair of flawless white wings unfurled.

Those wings were not of flesh and blood, nor were they any ordinary thing. They were formed from pure Light Energy, and each feather seemed to be solidified Holy Light. As they beat, they left faint golden trails in the air.

The man wore a set of form-fitting Golden Full Body Armor. The style of the Armor was simple and ancient, engraved with the Sun and Holy Sword Emblem.

In his hand, he carried a Two-Handed Greatsword about as tall as he was. The blade was wide, and its edge reflected a chilling light under the sun that one dared not look at directly.

He wore no helmet, revealing a young but expressionless face. His eyes were vacant, as if he were merely a puppet carrying out orders.

”Angel Armament...”

Behind the Allied Army’s lines, a grave expression appeared for the first time on Luke’s face, which was usually as hard and cold as steel.

His hand unconsciously tightened on his sword hilt.

”It’s one of the Light Holy See’s ’Angels of Death’.”

Angel Armament, the most mysterious and terrifying of the Light Holy See’s War Weapons.

It is not a race, but a modification technology.

The Holy See selects the most devout and resolute Knights and, through a baptism and Divine Technique modifications so cruel as to be inhumane, transforms them into life forms that are half-human, half-energy.

They lose most of their emotions and self-awareness, becoming their god’s weapons on earth, fighting only to carry out that god’s will.

They possess Power, speed, and regenerative abilities far beyond that of ordinary people, and can even directly control Light Divine Techniques.

Every Two-winged Angel possesses combat power sufficient to match a Sky Knight.

And above the two-winged, there are the even more powerful Four Wings and Six-winged Angels.

In history, the legends about the Angel Armament are all linked to bloodshed and efficiency.

The most famous instance was during the ”Night of Weeping Blood” battle thirty years ago.

At that time, a fortified city betrayed the Holy See and defended itself from within its walls.

The Light Holy See dispatched just twelve Two-winged Angels. In a single night, they traveled hundreds of miles, infiltrated the city silently, assassinated all the high-ranking generals, and at dawn, had replanted the Holy See’s banner on the city walls.

They are the scalpels of the battlefield, the ultimate weapon for storming fortresses.

Now, that very scalpel was hovering before Raylo.

”Angel of Death Number Thirty-five.”

The young ”Angel” spoke, his voice as flat and emotionless as two stones grinding together.

”By the mission of the Divine Spirit, I have come to grant you defeat.”

Raylo’s gaze was warier than ever before.

He could feel the aura emanating from his opponent—it was cold and pure, yet it also carried the fervent heat of a zealot.

It was the aura of a pure ”tool” that had sacrificed its entire being to some other existence.

Fighting an opponent like this, one without fear and possibly without even a sense of self, was the most troublesome.

”Raylo.”

Raylo announced his name.

The hearts of the Allied Army soldiers below were in their throats.

They could see the figure in the sky radiating a holy radiance, and they could feel the suffocating pressure.

That was not the bearing a Mortal should have; that was a ”Miracle” walking among men.

’Lord Raylo... can he win?’

There were no more words.

The battle erupted in an instant!

”VMMM!”

The wings of light behind Number Thirty-five beat once, and his figure instantly vanished.

It wasn’t flying—it was a ’launch’!

The air split with a piercing boom.

’So fast!’

Raylo’s pupils contracted. Relying on combat instincts honed over countless battles, he yanked hard on the reins.

”Baofeng, barrel roll!”

”ROAR!”

Baofeng let out a furious roar, its massive body rolling sharply to the left with an agility that completely defied its size.

The instant it moved, a massive beam of golden sword light, carrying an aura that could tear through anything, slashed through the space it had just occupied!

The sharp Fighting Spirit and Divine Power contained within the sword light left a white scar in the air that lingered for a long moment.

His first strike having missed, Number Thirty-five’s figure made an unnatural turn in mid-air. His wings of light vibrated again, and he transformed into a golden streak, lunging from another treacherous angle.

His attacks were wide and sweeping, each sword strike powerful and heavy. It was a life-for-a-life fighting style, with no consideration for defense.

Because for the Angel Armament, the best defense is to utterly annihilate the enemy.

”Wind Barrier!”

Raylo didn’t dare to be careless. Streaks of cyan Wind Element quickly condensed around him and Baofeng, forming a constantly rotating Shield of air currents.

However, Number Thirty-five’s attack didn’t pause in the slightest.

”Divine Judgment!”

He chanted the cold words, and the Two-Handed Greatsword in his hand lit up with a blinding white light.

He ignored the Wind Barrier and simply cleaved straight through it with his sword!

”SHRRIIIP!”

Before the Great Sword burning with Holy Light, the Wind Barrier was as fragile as a sheet of paper, torn apart in an instant.

The sharp edge of the blade pointed straight at Baofeng’s head!

At the critical moment, Baofeng suddenly opened its massive maw and spat out a highly compressed cyan wind projectile!

”BOOM!”

The wind projectile and the Holy Light Greatsword collided violently in mid-air. The raging air currents and Divine Energy crashed into each other and annihilated, forming a chaotic storm of energy.

Using the explosive force to push them back, Raylo steered Baofeng to rapidly increase their distance, his face already a mask of gravity.

After just a few exchanges, he had been completely put on the defensive.

His opponent’s speed, Power, and fearless, death-defying fighting style all put him under immense pressure.

It was as if he were fighting a tireless, fearless killing machine.
