Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 189: Chapter 183: Visiting the Count of Giant Stone

Chapter 183

”My Lord, you’re the one who said it!”

In Gavin’s mind, his side had an extra man, and all their flying mounts were hand-picked Tier Three Magical Beasts. He didn’t believe they would necessarily lose to Raylo’s Personal Guard.

”Begin.”

Raylo uttered a single word.

Gavin roared.

”Charge! Tear them apart!”

Filled with defiant fire, the eleven Knights urged their roaring Magical Beasts forward, pouncing on the Storm Griffin Knights from different directions.

However, faced with their aggressive encirclement, the Storm Griffin Knights’ reaction was completely unexpected.

Instead of meeting the charge, they instantly soared higher, then executed a graceful turn. The entire formation moved like an agile bird, easily evading the initial assault.

”Trying to run?”

Gavin sneered and spurred his Scorpion-tailed Lion in pursuit.

Just then, the situation changed in a flash.

The lead Storm Griffin Knight suddenly came to a sharp halt. The nine companions behind him instantly scattered, forming a great, closing net as they counter-encircled from all sides.

Meanwhile, he turned to face Gavin, who was charging at the very front.

Before Gavin could even process what was happening, two miserable cries came from his flanks.

He whipped his head around in astonishment. He saw one of his companions, man and mount, pinned between two Storm Griffins. The mount’s wing was pierced and held fast by one Knight’s Long Spear, while the rider himself was struck hard on the back with the shaft of another’s spear, sending him tumbling dizzily toward the ground.

This wasn’t a battle at all. It was a textbook encirclement hunt!

The Storm Griffin Knights’ coordination was terrifyingly seamless. They never lingered in a fight, striking once before disengaging.

Sometimes they would form groups of two or three to precisely attack a single target. Other times, they would apply pressure as a group, shattering the Sharp Blade Squad’s formation.

The Knights of the Sharp Blade Squad had immense individual Power, but it was like punching cotton—they were constrained at every turn.

Their mounts might not have been weaker than the Storm Griffins in individual strength, but faced with a disciplined formation, they were like a swarm of headless flies.

In less than twenty minutes, the battle was over.

Of the eleven once-arrogant Tier Three Magical Beasts, seven had been forced to the ground. The remaining four were pinned in the air, unable to move.

Gavin’s Scorpion-tailed Lion was surrounded by three Storm Griffin Knights. Three Long Spears were leveled at its neck, wing, and tail. Gavin himself sat rigidly on his mount, his face ashen, his knuckles white from gripping his sword hilt too tightly.

On the training grounds, the Knights who had just finished their own combat drills were all staring at the sky, dumbfounded.

This ”friendly match” had completely overturned their understanding of combat.

’So this is how you fight in the air.’

’So the power of a team can be this terrifying.’

Raylo’s figure slowly descended from the sky. The Storm Griffin Knights saluted him before silently moving to the side.

”Now.”

Raylo looked at the dejected Sharp Blade Squad.

”Does anyone still think their way of fighting is superior?”

No one answered.

Gavin lowered his proud head, his voice hoarse.

”My Lord, we... lost.”

”If you lost, then learn.”

Raylo said.

”You learn much faster from defeat than from victory.”

「Three days later.」

The atmosphere on the training grounds was completely different.

All the Knights threw themselves into their training with unprecedented focus.

Raylo integrated all of them together.

The Sharp Blade Squad acted as the spearhead, with ten ordinary knight squads forming the left and right flanks.

At first, problems still arose constantly.

But this time, no one complained, and no one slacked off.

Above Panshi Castle, the last vestiges of twilight were swallowed by the night.

Raylo stood at a battlement on the city wall, looking down at the brightly lit camp below.

Baofeng was crouched beside him, its massive body like a tan mountain, its pale gold eyes calmly gazing into the distance.

After three days of integration and high-intensity training, the Aerial Cavalry unit formed from the Sharp Blade Squad and the ten ordinary knight squads had finally begun to take shape.

The formation, composed of over a hundred Flying Magical Beasts, was no longer a disorganized rabble.

When they swooped down from the sky in a coordinated dive, the gales they stirred up were strong enough to make the banners on the walls flap violently. The unified might they projected inspired awe in every soldier who witnessed it.

Gavin and the members of his Sharp Blade Squad had now completely lost their initial arrogance.

The way they looked at Raylo was now filled with genuine conviction and fervor.

This conviction stemmed not from Raylo’s status, but from the powerful tactical concepts he had demonstrated.

Raylo leaped onto Baofeng’s back.

The Storm Griffin King let out a low cry, and with a beat of its wings, its enormous body rose lightly into the air, flying toward another section of the Allied Army’s camp.

He was going to visit the Count of Giant Stone, Barton.

The Count of Giant Stone’s camp was vastly different in style from that of an ordinary Lord.

Barton’s camp was a showcase of power and ferocity.

Enormous Beast Cages housed all sorts of Giant Beasts, and the air was thick with the smell of dust, fodder, and the strong, distinct odor of wild animals.

Deafening roars and heavy footfalls rose and fell one after another, making it seem like a primitive beast-taming ground.

When Raylo slowly descended on Baofeng, he immediately drew everyone’s attention.

In a large clearing in the center of the camp, a massive training session was underway.

The most eye-catching sight was undoubtedly the twenty Mammoth Giant Elephants, which looked like moving hills.

Atop each Mammoth sat a Knight clad in Heavy Armor. They worked in perfect concert with the Giant Beasts beneath them, each footstep making the earth tremble.

The unparalleled impact force was enough to make one’s scalp tingle just from watching.

Raylo noticed that, compared to before, the Mammoths now had an extra layer of thick armor, and the seats on their backs had been improved to be sturdier and more robust.

A middle-aged man with a build as burly as a bear’s and a thick beard was standing on a high platform, shouting at the top of his lungs as he directed the training.

This was the Count of Giant Stone, Barton.

Seeing Raylo descend from the sky, Barton’s eyes lit up, and a hearty smile spread across his face.

He leaped down from the platform in a few great strides, his heavy Armor clanging loudly.

”Brother Raylo! You’re finally here!”

Barton strode over, his huge, fan-like hand slapping heavily on Raylo’s shoulder with enough force to make an ordinary knight stagger.

Raylo stood his ground firmly and responded with a smile.

”Count Barton, your troops look to be in high spirits.”

”Hahaha, high spirits! Of course they are!”

Barton’s gaze shifted to the Mammoth Knight unit, his eyes filled with undisguised admiration and envy.

”Seriously, I have to give my thanks to you and that girl, Lillian. This thing... tsk tsk, it’s practically a war machine! Compared to them, my forty Barbarian Bull boys are like underdeveloped calves.”
