Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence

Chapter 168: Chapter 162: Moonlight’s Group Clone Technique

”Very good.”

Raylo stood up and dusted off his hands.

He turned to look at Lillian.

”Lillian, have Kaine bring our four strongest Earth Knights. Also, notify Great Mage Alina. Have her lead the Pegasus Mage Squad into the air and get ready.”

Lillian watched Moonlight circle Raylo, looking for all the world like it was asking for praise. Being exceptionally sharp, she immediately guessed what was going on.

She said, ”Brother, so it was Moonlight who created that Storm Clone last time to defeat the Eliot Thunder Dragon.”

Raylo smiled and patted Moonlight’s head.

”Moonlight is the Chief Mage of Black Stone Territory, after all.”

Kaine, leading four Earth Knights, strode over.

They were still spattered with wet blood and carried the fierce aura of battle. They gave Raylo a standard military salute.

High in the sky, the Mage Squad began to assemble.

Over forty Pegasus Knights also took to the air again, circling high above the main keep, bows in hand and arrows nocked.

Raylo vaulted back onto Baofeng’s spine. The giant, white ”lazy cat” leaped nimbly and landed steadily, squatting on Baofeng’s broad head.

”Prepare to attack.”

On the roof of the main keep, the Valen Family’s Personal Guard Knights felt an unprecedented pressure.

In the sky, Black Stone Territory’s aerial forces began to draw near.

The magnificent Storm Griffins and the swift, agile Pegasi were like so many Swords of Damocles hanging over their heads.

”Hold your positions! They won’t dare to launch a full-frontal assault!”

A Knight Captain roared, trying to soothe the growing unease among his men.

”Our bed crossbows can shoot them down! Defend this position, and the Lord Earl will surely reward us!”

The words had barely left his mouth when the horn for the attack sounded.

But to their surprise, the first to attack were not the most dangerous-looking Storm Griffins, but the more numerous Pegasus Knights circling higher up.

”Fire!”

At the command, more than forty Pegasus Knights released their bowstrings in unison.

A rain of arrows tore through the sky with sharp whistles, pouring down onto the main keep’s rooftop platform from all directions.

”Shields up! Take cover!”

The Knight Captain yelled himself hoarse.

The defenders immediately raised their kite shields.

An incessant CLANGING rang out as arrows struck shields and armor, throwing off sparks.

Although the volley was dense, it came from a great distance, reducing its accuracy and power. It failed to cause any significant damage.

But the Pegasus Knights’ purpose was simply to distract them and draw their attention.

It worked well.

The Valen Family defenders’ attention was completely drawn by the rain of arrows. The operators of the bed crossbows also instinctively aimed the menacing weapons at the high-flying Pegasus Knights, preparing to find an opportunity to counterattack.

No one noticed that behind the eleven Storm Griffins on the main attack vector, a strange and magnificent scene was unfolding.

Atop Baofeng’s head, Moonlight’s pale gold, slitted pupils lit up with a light as brilliant as the stars.

It opened its mouth, but no sound came out. Instead, silver ripples of Magic Power spread out silently, like waves on the surface of water.

In Raylo’s field of vision, the figures of the ten Storm Griffin Knights beside him, along with their mounts, began to blur and overlap, like reflections in water.

The next second, these blurry shadows solidified, separating from the original bodies.

One became two, two became four... No, it wasn’t a simple doubling.

”Group Clone Technique.”

One Baofeng became two.

Ten Storm Griffins became twenty.

Even the Knights on their backs, the weapons in their hands, and the armor on their bodies were perfectly replicated. These illusions, formed from pure Magic Power, were so lifelike that they even mimicked the sheen of the griffins’ feathers and the killing intent in the Knights’ eyes.

In an instant, the size of Raylo’s assault force had doubled.

Twenty-two majestic Storm Griffins fanned out in the sky. The sheer power of their presence made the Valen Family defenders below gasp in unison.

”What... what kind of magic is that?”

A young defending Knight’s voice trembled, his bow-hand unsteady.

”They’re illusions! Don’t be afraid! It’s illusion magic!”

The captain was still shouting, but his own voice was now tinged with a hint of fear.

”Charge!”

Raylo’s cold voice was like the sounding of death’s horn.

He gave the enemy no time to think or react.

At his command, the eleven clones created by Moonlight were the first to begin a suicidal charge.

They dove at astonishing speed, talons extended, aiming straight for the four deadly enchanted bed crossbows.

”Fire! Fire now!”

The defending commander finally reacted, screaming in alarm.

The soldiers manning the bed crossbows frantically pulled the triggers.

Four enormous crossbow arrows, thicker than a man’s arm, shrieked through the air, trailing glowing runes as they shot toward the charging Storm Griffins.

It was an attack powerful enough to slay a Giant Dragon.

POP! POP!

With two muffled pops, the two Storm Griffins at the very front of the charge were struck dead-on by the crossbow arrows.

Their massive bodies froze in midair. There was no blood, no cry of pain. Like punctured soap bubbles, they simply dissolved into a flurry of silver light motes and vanished.

The clones had successfully used their ”lives” to bait out the enemy’s most lethal volley.

The remaining clones continued their fearless charge. And just a dozen meters behind them, the real assault team, personally led by Raylo, followed close behind like a clinging shadow.

This was the real killing blow!

As the defenders watched the two ”griffins” dissolve into light and were about to cheer, they were horrified to discover that more Griffins were already upon them.

There was no time to reload their bed crossbows!

”No!”

Their desperate screams were drowned out by the screeches of the Storm Griffins and the jarring sound of talons tearing through metal.

The clone unit and the real Storm Griffin Knights smashed into the defenders’ formation like a pair of red-hot pincers.

The Storm Griffins’ Iron Feathers were like blades, every flap of their wings kicking up a spray of blood. Their sharp beaks and claws easily tore through the heavy armor the defenders prided themselves on, as if ripping through thin paper.

In the midst of the chaos, Raylo did not immediately join the fray.

He steered Baofeng, circling about ten meters above the battlefield.

He patted Baofeng’s neck.

”Baofeng!”

A fierce wind erupted!

With Baofeng at its center, a visible, cyan vortex burst forth, instantly enveloping the entire rooftop platform of the main keep.

It wasn’t a lethal attack, but it was more terrifying than any blade.

The raging gale was like countless invisible hands, pulling and shoving every defender on the platform.

They lost their footing, unable to stand firm. Their formation was blown into disarray by the gale.

Some were blown against the battlements, their heads bloodied. More were knocked directly to the ground, tumbling together like gourds.

Just as they were struggling to get back up, the attack from the Pegasus Mage Squad in the sky arrived.

Great Mage Alina, who had long been ready, raised her Crystal Magic Staff high. The gemstone at its tip erupted with a blinding light.

”Mage Corps, fire at will! Target all standing enemies!”

Her cool voice pronounced the defenders’ doom.

Under her command, the Pegasus Mages of Amber Territory unleashed a deadly magical barrage.
