Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 176: Chapter 147: The Beginning of the Scandal

When Zhou Yun heard that even Song Chi was being scolded, she immediately frowned.

”How is Song Chi involved in this matter?” she asked.

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Because Song Chi is one of the co-producers of ’Heart Inquiry,’ everyone knows that Song Chi also invested in this drama. Su Yan’s fans are cursing Song Chi for being crazed about making money, not safeguarding the actors on set, and even causing Su Yan to be hospitalized.”

Zhou Yun, no longer a newcomer in the industry, felt a surge of anger upon hearing this news and subconsciously guessed that this hot search might have been bought by Su Yan’s side!

Buying such a trending search not only helps maintain her popularity, as she hasn’t been appearing in public due to the long filming period and quickly losing heat, but also, it likely serves as a means to pressure the production team.

Thinking this, Zhou Yun felt anxious and immediately grabbed her phone to log into Weibo to check the real-time situation.

Indeed, just as Zheng Xiaojue had said, many people online were criticizing the production team for inadequate safety measures.

”Can’t these people be a bit more rational? Do they know how Su Yan got injured before they start attacking?” Zhou Yun was exasperated.

Zhou Yun worried for Song Chi, but beyond worrying, she felt helpless.

The online criticism of the production team continued, and the official Weibo of the production team didn’t respond to any claims.

After returning to the hotel, Zhou Yun would sometimes pick up her phone to check for any new updates on Weibo.

After she finished taking a bath and blow-drying her hair, there were still no new developments.

The official Weibo of the production team still hadn’t provided any clarification.

Zhou Yun hesitated whether to ask Song Chi if the production team had any handling measures.

But she worried that asking such questions wouldn’t provide any real help to Song Chi and might distract him because of the need to respond to her.

Zhou Yun didn’t want to trouble Song Chi during this time.

Thus, with a hesitant and worried mind, she went to sleep. Upon waking up, the first thing Zhou Yun did was check Weibo.

But still, there were no new updates.

When Zhou Yun arrived at the set and entered the makeup room, the first thing she did was ask Li Li if he had heard any news.

Li Li, the makeup artist, often had more information than Zhou Yun.

However, Li Li didn’t have any new information either.

”I only know that the producers had a meeting after last night’s wrap, but I’m not sure what the decision was. The call sheet I received says everything is shooting as usual. Oh, and Su Yan hasn’t come back, she has no scenes today,” Li Li said, then began doing Zhou Yun’s makeup.

Due to Su Yan unexpectedly being hospitalized, the number of scenes Zhou Yun had to shoot suddenly increased.

Zhou Yun now had to come for makeup early every day.

”Su Yan’s agent is notoriously tricky; even Teacher Li wouldn’t want to accept Su Yan’s jobs and rarely does her makeup,” Li Li said, sharing his grievances privately, ”Previously, one makeup artist accepted an invitation from Su Yan’s side to do her makeup for an important event. Since Su Yan is a top-tier celebrity, the makeup artist was excited to take the job. They said that after the event, they’d just give him the payment directly, simple and straightforward. The makeup artist, naive as he was, thought that Su Yan, being a top-tier star, wouldn’t cheat him. But after the event ended, Su Yan’s agent criticized the makeup work harshly and only agreed to pay one-third of the originally agreed sum.”

Zhou Yun remarked, ”That’s untrustworthy.”

”That’s untrustworthy indeed, but what can you do? There was no contract signed, and the price was discussed over the phone with no record left. He just had to swallow the loss. But how is this a good thing for Su Yan? By skimping on such a small amount of money, who would want to take her jobs in the future? Anyway, this incident has made quite a stir in our circle; several top makeup artists, while not able to state publicly, privately decided not to take jobs from her anymore.”

Zhou Yun said, ”That shows integrity!”

”What’s the use of having integrity? She still has a bunch of fans supporting her everywhere, still hailed as a big celebrity,” Li Li said, his tone mixed with dissatisfaction and resentment.

Zhou Yun noted, ”Li Li, rest assured, whatever a person does, there will be consequences.”

”Sister Xiao Yun, are you into Buddhism?”

”It’s not about Buddhism.” Zhou Yun couldn’t help but chuckle, ”Just like how her scamming the makeup artist led to several top makeup artists boycotting her privately. Everyone’s actions have some effects. Right now, she’s popular and has many fans, but who knows about the future.”

Li Li: ”Tsk tsk, don’t curse her just yet. Let ’Heart Inquiry’ be successfully aired before anything happens. Don’t jinx the show!”

Zhou Yun indeed hadn’t considered this point.

Li Li was correct. If Su Yan were to face problems, let it wait until after the show had aired, so as not to affect the show.

As Zhou Yun’s makeup was nearly done, Song Chi arrived.

His dark circles were severe, clearly visible.

He sat down and yawned lengthily.

Usually, Zhou Yun would tease Song Chi about his yawn, but today she did not.

”I’m going to have a quick nap, utterly exhausted,” Song Chi said, then closed his eyes.

Zhou Yun looked towards Song Chi’s assistant and softly asked, ”What time did he sleep last night?”

”Probably around two in the morning,” the assistant named Zhang Cong, a very young boy, replied, ”After wrapping up, Brother Chi sent me to sleep and then went for a meeting. He messaged me at two in the morning, asking me to wake him up early today.”

It was now only seven in the morning.

Zhou Yun calculated that Song Chi must have only had about four to five hours of sleep.

That’s when Zheng Xiaojue brought a cup of warm milk to Zhou Yun and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, here’s your hot milk.”

This was Zhou Yun’s breakfast.

Zhou Yun then quietly asked Zhang Cong, ”Has he had breakfast?”

Zhang Cong shook his head, ”I prepared bread and milk for Brother Chi, but he fell asleep as soon as he got in the car.”

He was too tired to even think about breakfast.

Zhou Yun sighed softly watching Song Chi.

Song Chi, asleep in the chair, despite the dark circles under his eyes and a bit of stubble on his chin, still looked handsome, his jawline catching the light, evoking a sense of sexiness.

...

A stagehand came to inform Zhou Yun to head to the shooting location, called by Kang Xin.

Kang Xin sat on a chair, holding a bun in his hand.

Zhou Yun walked over and greeted, ”Director.”

Kang Xin looked up and said, ”You’re here; there’s something I need to discuss with you. Because Su Yan needs to recuperate in the hospital for a while, your scenes will be moved up. Prepare a bit ahead and memorize your lines in advance so that you can quickly get into character on set.”

Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun nodded and agreed.

Since she was already at the set every day, shooting ahead of schedule could also mean wrapping up earlier.
