Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 174: Chapter 145: The Beginning of the Scandal

Kang Xin’s praise for Zhou Yun quickly reached Su Yan’s ears.

This time, no one could explain it away as simply encouragement for a newcomer.

Many people on set saw Kang Xin’s satisfaction with Zhou Yun.

Su Yan with a stern face, asked, ”Is Zhou Yun’s acting that good?”

The assistant glanced at Su Yan’s expression and said, ”I haven’t seen her act, but being a newcomer, no matter how good her acting is, it can only stand out among newcomers at most.”

Su Yan sneered and said, ”That’s not what they are saying. Even Kang Xin praised her acting; have you ever heard Kang Xin praise me like that?”

The assistant was silent for a moment, then said, ”Your acting is inherently good; you don’t need others’ praise, and Director Kang doesn’t praise Song Chi much either.”

Su Yan: ”Really? Why do I feel that Director Kang is not very satisfied with me? He keeps wanting to go over the scenes with me.”

”Director Kang’s style is just like that, before every scene, he meticulously discusses it with the actors.”

”Ugh, it’s because he fusses over things like this that the progress is so slow. A film that could be finished in three months is being stretched out to be finished by next year, wasting so much of my time,” Su Yan frowned discontentedly, ”What do you think, can we ask the platform to urge Director Kang to speed up the progress?”

”It’s not easy, the film is produced by Zuo Jing, with Yuehai only handling distribution and broadcasting,” the assistant said, ”Both Kang Xin and Song Chi have high demands for this film; every shot is taken with great detail, which is why it’s so slow. The long filming period was set initially to accommodate Director Kang’s style.”

Su Yan said, ”Famous directors are indeed hard to serve.”

As they were talking, Zhou Yun came in.

The conversation between Su Yan and her assistant immediately ceased.

Zhou Yun, upon seeing Su Yan, naturally did not greet her.

Su Yan naturally did not greet her either.

The atmosphere in the makeup room became somewhat tense for a moment.

Li Li saw Zhou Yun, smiled, and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, you’re here!”

Zhou Yun nodded, yawning, and said, ”I’m so sleepy.”

Li Li patted the chair, saying, ”Sit down, take a nap a while longer.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s okay, no rush, I don’t have shooting this afternoon.”

Li Li glanced at the call sheet and said, ”Oh, is that so? Then why did you come so early?”

Zhou Yun replied, ”Well, I woke up, so I just came over.”

Su Yan curled her lip corner and said to the assistant, ”Go check how the previous scene is going and how much longer we need to wait; it’s almost noon.”

The assistant nodded and left.

Zhou Yun felt speechless.

Just like that, Su Yan had to squeeze in a remark.

—Why did you come now? (Coming so early)

—It’s almost noon now. (Coming early is pointless)

Zhou Yun said to Zheng Xiaojue, ”Xiaoju, help me check what’s for lunch today, I hope they don’t make boiled vegetables again, I’m about to get sick of it.”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, I can’t go, you instructed me before you joined the crew, that I must keep you from eating meat.”

Zhou Yun: ”...”

Zheng Xiaojue: ”Besides, the director also said that you must maintain your current figure, Liu Rusu is extremely thin.”

Zhou Yun sighed.

Li Li laughed heartily and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, you’ve hired the right assistant.”

Suddenly, there was a harsh noise from a chair moving across the floor.

Su Yan stood up, her face stern, and walked out of the makeup room.

Zhou Yun turned to look at her.

Li Li pursed his lips and said, ”Before you arrived, she was upset about Director Kang praising you last night, feeling that despite her good acting, she hasn’t received any praise from Director Kang.”

Zhou Yun smiled but didn’t say anything.

She had been prepared; being in the same production team as Su Yan meant there would be conflicts.

It was just the beginning and both sides were still in their tolerance phase, who knew that the first point of contention would be about Director Kang’s attitude.

At that moment, Jiang Yuzhen suddenly arrived.

”Xiao Yun, you’re here.” Jiang Yuzhen greeted proactively.

”Yuzhen!” Zhou Yun responded with a smile.

Jiang Yuzhen, bare-faced, also hadn’t put on any makeup, waiting to go to the makeup room to have it applied.

She yawned lazily and said, ”I didn’t sleep well last night, I’m so tired.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”I saw that your scenes are scheduled for the afternoon, why did you come so early?”

”Director Kang asked me to come early to run through the scenes; no choice, he’s like the boss here, I could only come.” Jiang Yuzhen smiled helplessly, ”Is this your first time shooting with Director Kang?”

”Yes, it’s my first time.”

”You’re so young to be filming with Director Kang, I’m really envious. Pay attention and learn, you can learn a lot from Director Kang, it will be greatly beneficial.”

”Yes, I will, thank you, Yuzhen.”

Jiang Yuzhen lazily sat down in her chair, ”Li Li, you do my makeup first.”

Li Li was also in charge of Jiang Yuzhen’s makeup.

Li Li glanced at Zhou Yun, looking troubled.

If we talk about who came first, Zhou Yun was here earlier, and Li Li should do her makeup first.

Seeing Li Li’s troubled expression, Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”You go do Yuzhen’s makeup first, I arrived early anyway, and Yuzhen’s scenes are before mine.”

Only then did Li Li go to Jiang Yuzhen.

The makeup room quieted down, leaving only the soft noises of activity.

After a while, Jiang Yuzhen suddenly remembered something and asked, ”Xiao Yun, are you and Xiao Song dating?”

With the broadcast of ”After the Scandal”, the fans of CP (Couple Pair) between Zhou Yun and Song Chi grew day by day.

Many people started asking Zhou Yun about this after seeing her.

Zhou Yun laughed awkwardly and said, ”Yuzhen, you’re on set every day, you can see, Song Chi and I are just friends.”

”Really? I see you two are pretty close, Song Chi is a really nice guy, young and talented, if you like him, don’t let him go easily.” Jiang Yuzhen said, ”Liu Rusu missed her chance with He Mu because she hesitated too much, don’t be like Liu Rusu.”

Jiang Yuzhen’s words made Zhou Yun feel somewhat helpless.

What was she supposed to say?

Jiang Yuzhen: ”Times are different now compared to our days, it’s so much better now.”

Zhou Yun laughed awkwardly.

”Yuzhen, there’s really nothing between Song Chi and me.”

Jiang Yuzhen: ”Alright, it seems I spoke too much.”

The topic finally ended.

Zhou Yun still felt a bit guilty.

But in the silence, the words Jiang Yuzhen had just said began to echo again.

—Liu Rusu missed her chance with He Mu because she hesitated too much, don’t be like Liu Rusu.

Undoubtedly, Jiang Yuzhen’s words struck Zhou Yun like an arrow to the heart.

On the surface, Zhou Yun showed no reaction, but inside, a sense of unease began to rise.

A disquiet.

Would she really, like Liu Rusu, lose her He Mu due to her own hesitations?
