Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 622: Chapter 624: Not a Petty Person

Du Zhongshu first handed over several silver banknotes. Bai Ruozhu took them and glanced at them. It was five hundred taels of silver. She didn’t say anything and wasn’t in a hurry to put them away.

Then Du Zhongshu placed several account books on it and also put a thick red envelope.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t rush to accept them, she raised her eyebrows to look at Du Zhongshu. So Du Zhongshu’s hand just raised like this, didn’t urge her, and didn’t show any impatience. He only slightly bowed his head, as if terribly defeated.

Bai Ruozhu sneered, so it was Grandpa Du who had finally got him settled down. His original sharpness was almost worn out, and he did have some businessmen’s ability to bend and stretch.

She reached out and took them, laughing and saying, ”Is all this what I should get?”

Du Zhongshu was stunned, then said: ”Yes, this is the 20% bonus promised in the original contract.”

Bai Ruozhu’s smile widened a little, and she sat in the chair leisurely browsing the account books, while Du Zhongshu was always standing next to the table because Bai Ruozhu seemed to have ”forgotten” to ask him to sit down.

When Bai Ruozhu finished browsing an account book, she then ”suddenly realized” and said, ”Look at my memory. You better sit. I’ll have someone make tea for you.”

Du Zhongshu’s face turned very awkward. He sat down and said, ”No need to be so polite.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Ruozhu really did not bother to serve tea to Du Zhongshu. Du Zhongshu almost choked, his face almost turning red in frustration. Bai Ruozhu was intentionally difficult towards him.

Bai Ruozhu continued to look at the account books. The several account books were from Beiyu City, Anyuan City and nearby cities. The thickest was from Beiyu City, indicating the highest sales volume.

The Du family should have shown her these a long time ago. Even if they were not willing to show her, they still should not have done such obvious manipulations. She wouldn’t have been petty about it, but the Du family not only deducted her large bonuses, but also tried to calculate and take advantage of her as it was challenging her bottom line.

”Does Miss Bai think there are problems with the account books?” Du Zhongshu took a deep breath, suppressed his anger and asked.

Bai Ruozhu smiled and said, ”Well, there is no problem. I finally saw the real account books. When did this toothpaste business start in these cities?”

Du Zhongshu was stunned. He remembered what his grandpa had told him not to hide anything from Bai Ruozhu. He had to tell her everything she asked.

”It started the month before last, and Beiyu City started one month earlier.” He answered.

Bai Ruozhu closed the account book, leisurely drank a sip of tea, and then said, ”It seems that my previous share only included the business from Anyuan Town. Was there a mistake?”

Du Zhongshu’s mouth twitched, and said, ”I will bring the account books for the previous three months here tomorrow, I will also make up your bonus.”

”Make sure you do the calculations correctly, and subtract the money I used to buy medicinal materials. I don’t like to take advantage of others. Right, you don’t need to calculate the interest for these months. I’m not that petty.” Bai Ruozhu said with a grin.

Du Zhongshu almost choked on her words. He didn’t know in the beginning that his family had falsified the accounts. It was not his intention to hide it. Why is she doing this now?

”Alright, I will make clear the accounts.” Du Zhongshu gritted his teeth and said. Since she wants it to be crystal clear, he will make it that clear.

After listening to this, Bai Ruozhu got up and said, ”Then I’ll trouble Master Du. I have to go and look after the child. Excuse my absence.” After that, she didn’t wait for Du Zhongshu’s answer, she directly took the silver banknotes and the red envelope and walked away.

Du Zhongshu stood in the main hall of the Bai family, feeling particularly awkward. He finally had to pack up the account books himself and leave quietly.

After he left, Lin Ping’er snorted coldly and said to Fang Guizhi: ”A promising young man in the past, now it’s really annoying to look at him.”

”That’s right. He even had the nerve to blame Ruozhu for openly talking about his sister. He doesn’t look at who started calculating Ruozhu first. So shameless!” Fang Guizhi also scorned.

Lin Ping’er felt that she could agree with Guizhi on many things. Both of them were straightforward, so she couldn’t help but recall the day when she asked Bai Zepei about Tu Ying. Although Bai Zepei repeatedly stated that he had no feelings for Tu Ying, Lin Ping’er was still worried.

It wasn’t that she thought Tu Ying was bad, but she felt that such a woman was a bit too aggressive to be a daughter-in-law. Thinking of this, she looked at Guizhi and thought that it would be nice to have a daughter-in-law with a character like Guizhi.

Bai Ruozhu went back to her room and counted the silver banknotes in the red envelope, then compared it with the number on the account book. It was really good and she even rounded off the number.

Huh, wouldn’t it be better if it was done like this in the first place? Then everyone could co-operate more happily.

But Grandpa Du was indeed shrewd, afraid that after he and Bai Ruozhu disbanded, she might start a new toothpaste business. Then Du’s business could potentially face a strong competitor.

Bai Ruozhu kept one hundred taels of silver banknotes and put the rest into the Space. This way, her hand was loosened a lot now.

Early the next morning, Bai Ruozhu went to Hua Xiangrong with Fusa. She directly met the shopkeeper of the next-door shop. The shopkeeper stated the owner’s intentions. The rent was nearly half more expensive than the shop currently rented by Bai Ruozhu, but the shop was also larger, so it wasn’t unreasonable.

”This price is a bit high, you also know the shop I rent next door, you probably know the price.” Bai Ruozhu wanted to try bargaining.

The shopkeeper said: ”Ay, is this price still high? You should ask around. Our owner urgently needs money. Since this shop isn’t doing great business, it’s planned to be rented out. As for the cheap price of your shop next door, it was offered to you at a special price. But you can’t always let our owner do a losing business, right?”

Bai Ruozhu thought that maybe Madam Liu gave her the kinship price on account of Yu Hongxiu. Thinking of this, she felt she should visit Madam Liu more often, give her some gifts and return this kindness.

Afterwards, she told the shopkeeper that she would consider it for a while, and needed to discuss with her family, and the shopkeeper did not urge her. She went to the street and looked around, also asked about the rental price for other shops that were about to be rented out and found that the price was indeed reasonable.

So in the afternoon, Bai Ruozhu went to reply to the shopkeeper and booked the shop down. The owner of that house was really short of money. The shopkeeper immediately asked the waiter to report the news. The owner rushed over in a hurry and then went to the Commerce Association with Bai Ruozhu to handle the leasing procedures.

When Bai Ruozhu paid the full rental price and wanted to talk a few more words with that owner, the owner left in a rush without saying hello.

The accompanying shopkeeper said with some embarrassment: ”Miss Bai, don’t mind. Our owner really needs money urgently.”

Bai Ruozhu was somewhat curious and wanted to ask what the urgency was, but seeing the shopkeeper dared not talk more, she didn’t want to pry into other people’s private affairs, so she said goodbye to the shopkeeper and left first.

According to the agreement, the shop would be vacated within three days. Bai Ruozhu directly went to the carpenter’s shop and ordered some shelves and the wooden mannequins she designed.

When she finished all these and returned home cheerfully, Lin Ping’er waved a post to her and said, ”The original owner of Xu Lun has found and recovered the field deed. They want to invite us to a banquet.”
