Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 616: Chapter 618: Lose Your Wife and Troops

Wu Wanqing was pulled away from Yingkelai by Xu Huilin. As soon as they left the main gate, Wu Wanqing forcefully shook off Xu Huilin’s hand, saying, ”Brother Xu, whose side are you on?”.

Xu Huilin’s face turned cold, saying, ”Wanqing, there’s a limit to your impulsiveness. Wu Ying is the daughter of a military official. If you want to live in Beiyu City in peace, don’t provoke her.”

Wu Wanqing snorted coldly. ”So what if she is? Should we allow her to be arrogant and domineering?”

”So, you think our master will support your reckless behavior?” Xu Huilin’s face turned grave, today Wu Wanqing should not have come and stir trouble.

He sighed, ”Wanqing, even if you cannot swallow your pride, remember, it was you who gave up on him. Now that he has made his stand clear, why can’t you wish them well?”

Wu Wanqing looked at Xu Huilin in displeasure and bluntly said, ”My affairs are not of your concern. Don’t think I’m blind to your calculation. If you’re planning to use the Yue family to take revenge, don’t involve me. Neither my dad nor I are easy to manipulate.”

After her words, she huffed coldly again, ”Do you really think Bai Ruozhu can be with him? Just you wait and watch.” She stormed off, her feet seemingly brought along gusts of wind indicating how angry she was.

Xu Huilin’s eyes were cold, he didn’t chase after Wu Wanqing but chose to leave in another direction.

Wa San, who was hiding behind the horse carriage outside the gate, stealthily poked his head out. He had to report everything he heard to his young mistress to prepare her. The woman who just stormed off looked really fierce, definitely not a good thing.

Inside the private room, Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”It’s finally quiet. Now we can enjoy our food.”

Wu Ying also started to laugh, ”That’s right! Miss Wu was too pretentious, it was very uncomfortable having her around. It’s better that she left.”

Bai Ruozhu served some food to Wu Ying using the public chopsticks, saying, ”Don’t get yourself involved in her mess because of me, her father is the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Communication.”

Wu Ying responded with an ”Oh” and carried on eating, seemingly unbothered by whose daughter Wu Wanqing was.

Bai Ruozhu laughed helplessly, perhaps in the eyes of girls like Wu Ying, he who fists speak louder were only worth admiring.

She glanced at her older brother, he was eating his meal in his usually calm and composed demeanor. Xiaosi, who was sitting next to him, looked disappointed as if he had something he hadn’t got the chance to ask Xu Huilin.

Bai Ruozhu felt pity and said, ”What’s wrong Xiaosi? If you have questions about martial arts, you can ask Wu Ying as well. She is quite skilled.”

Wu Ying lifted her fist and said, ”Among the young nobles in Beiyu City, there aren’t many who can beat me.”

Xiaosi glanced at her and asked, ”Who is more skilled then, you or the Second Young Master?”

”He was referring to Xu Huilin just now,” Bai Ruozhu explained from the side.

Wu Ying shrugged, ”I don’t know. I haven’t faced him. Maybe we can have a match if there is a chance.”

Xiaosi seemed a little skeptical, perhaps because Wu Ying was too beautiful. Could such a beautiful sister really be that good at fighting?

Bai Ruozhu laughed, ”Xiaosi, I am thinking about asking Wu Ying to teach me some self-defense skills. You are welcome to join.”

Xiaosi’s eyes lit up, and he said excitedly, ”Okay! I want to learn.”

The color drained from Bai Zepei’s face. He quickly lifted his head glaring at Bai Ruozhu. What was his sister thinking? Was she trying to invite a wolf into their house? If Bai Ruozhu knew what he was thinking, she would have laughed out loud. In what aspect Wu Ying was a ’wolf’? Was she planning to assault his brother, the female lust|wolf?!

Bai Ruozhu, pretending to be confused, looked towards her brother with a hint of curiosity. Bai Zepei sighed helplessly and turned his face away. He refused to believe his little sister was that clueless.

Out of sudden, Wu Ying looked at Bai Zepei and asked, ”Brother Zepei, why aren’t you eating?”

”I have eaten enough, you enjoy your meal” Bai Zepei responded indifferently.

Wu Ying made a note of it and then asked gleefully, ”Brother Zepei, what food do you like? Do you have any preference?”

Bai Zepei’s face fell, ”Nothing in particular, everything is fine.”

”Don’t you have any dislikes?” Wu Ying persistently asked.

”No.” Bai Zepei’s voice already carried a chill.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but chuckle and said, ”Who said that? My brother doesn’t like ginger. He prefers ginger only in dishes for flavor, if he bites into ginger, he will frown due to the taste.”

Bai Zepei glared at his sister, ”That’s not true!”

”Really? Then eat this piece of ginger.” Bai Ruozhu, grinning mischievously, picked a large piece of ginger and placed it in Bai Zepei’s bowl. It was really a big piece.

Bai Zepei’s face turned darker, he slammed his chopsticks on the table and said loudly, ”Bai Ruozhu, don’t casually reveal my habits to outsiders!”

Bai Ruozhu shrank her neck, it was better not to provoke her brother. It seemed like he was close to losing his temper.

At the side, Wu Ying’s expression darkened a bit. She was indeed an outsider. She shouldn’t have asked in front of Bai Zepei, she should have quietly asked Ruozhu instead.

Thoughts filled Wu Ying’s mind, but she didn’t dwell on them for long. This girl’s inner strength was indeed powerful.

The rest of the meal continued without any more incidents. Wu Ying wary of ticking off Bai Zepei, no longer clung to him. She just chatted casually with Bai Ruozhu. Even though Bai Zepei was displeased, he did not storm off. After the meal, Wu Ying tactfully excused herself, and the three of them went back home in a horse carriage.

”Brother. Isn’t Wu Ying pretty good? Why the temper tantrum?” In the horse carriage, Bai Ruozhu asked in a low voice.

Bai Zepei gave her a roll of his eyes, ”Don’t pry into my affairs, especially my love life!”

Bai Ruozhu pouted, mumbling ”I may have overstepped, but mom is anxious.”

”I’ll find someone suitable after I achieve success in the Provincial Examination. Right now, I do not wish to be distract by anything else.” His voice was cold, as if he was not discussing his own lifelong affair, especially when he said ”a suitable person”. Bai Ruozhu had a feeling that he wasn’t referring to a person he liked, which made her feel a little sad inside.

The burden on brother’s shoulder is too heavy. There’s no issue for my eldest brother to marry the sister-in-law he loves. I can also choose to marry Jiang Yichun whom I’m fond of, but what about my elder brother? He casually mentioned finding a ”suitable person”. Does suitable mean they will certainly like each other?

When they reached home, Bai Zepei went to his room to read. Xiaosi ran off to the backyard to practice his punches. He wanted to perfect the moves based on Xu Huilin’s comments.

Just as Bai Ruozhu was about to return to her room, she was called by Wa San. Lowering his voice, Wa San relayed to her the conversation he overheard at the entrance of Yingkelai. Then he said, ”Miss, they didn’t notice me. I didn’t tell anyone, I just wanted to warn you, so that you can be prepared.”

”You did well. I’ll give you a bonus this month!” Bai Ruozhu happily said. She did not expect Wa San to be so sharp.

”Thank you, miss.” Wa San said happily.

Bai Ruozhu returned to her room holding Dengdeng, a smile playing on her lips. Wu Wanqing had kicked up a fuss for nothing, she couldn’t hurt her. On the contrary, it seemed like she had fallen out with Xu Huilin. That was like losing the lady and failing the soldier as well right?
