Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 612: Chapter 614: If Government Office Can’t Rule Us, then We Will

Bai Ruozhu thought that her father’s approach was wise. He was never impulsive, never throwing caution to the wind for the sake of pride. She didn’t know Beiyu City very well either. Buying land was a big deal, involving a lot of money. What if they come across a fraudster?

”My second brother is free lately, so I will accompany you with him to take a look.” Bai Ruozhu said.

Bai Yihong felt relieved and said, ”Then I will arrange for the meeting the day after tomorrow. Later, you can ask your second brother if he’s free.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, ”I will ask him right now.”

She briskly walked towards the front yard, not only to ask her second brother if he was free, but to ask if he would avoid her if she invited Tu Ying.

Thinking of this, she walked even more cheerfully.

Bai Zepei was reading a book in his room, with Xiaosi practicing calligraphy not far away. He occasionally looked up to give him some pointers.

Bai Ruozhu coughed lightly and entered the room. ”Second Brother,” she said. ”Father wants to know if you’re free the day after tomorrow, he is going to negotiate a land deal and wants us to accompany him.”

Bai Zepei nodded, ”Sure, I will make myself available.”

”Also, I’ve made a new friend, and I want to invite her over in a few days. I hear her older brother is your classmate, why not invite him as well?” Bai Ruozhu said, chuckling so gleefully that her eyes curved into crescents.

Bai Zepei flushed, completely oblivious to Bai Ruozhu’s impish grin. He stammered, ”Let’s... uh... let’s discuss it later, I might... be out of the house.”

At her brother’s response, Bai Ruozhu’s laughter grew stronger. Xiaosi, at the scene, stared at him, thinking, why is Sister laughing so strangely today? And why does Second Brother look so gloomy? What is going on?

Despite Xiaosi’s intelligence, he was naive about matters of the heart, so he could not figure it out.

Bai Ruozhu left her brother’s room laughing. It seemed that her second brother also had feelings for Tu Ying, otherwise why would he be so shy? She had never expected that he would fall for someone like her. She always thought he would like a lady with refined artistic tastes to add charm to his life.

However, she found Tu Ying’s straightforwardness quite charming. She wasn’t reckless or mindless, and she balanced well with her fox-like second brother. If they were both sly, wouldn’t they fight to the death in the future?

Suddenly, she thought of her relationship with Jiang Yichun. It seemed they were both clever and cunning. Then, what about their future...

Shaking her head, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh at her wild thoughts.

By evening, someone came with a message, claiming that the second young master would definitely attend the banquet the day after tomorrow. Upon hearing this, Xiaosi was overjoyed, and smiled broadly.

Rongrong tugged Niuniu’s sleeve and whispered, ”Look, Little Fourth Brother is smiling, isn’t he handsome?”

Niuniu blushed and nodded. ”Yes, Little Fourth Brother’s smile is so charming.”

Bai Ruozhu overheard the young girls’ whispers and couldn’t help but smile. Her little brother Xiaosi was indeed very handsome. He would surely become a talented gentleman when he grows up!

The next morning, Bai Ruozhu took her mother out. She carried Dengdeng in her arms which made things easier with her mother accompanying them.

Dengdeng had grown noticeably in recent days. His chubby cheeks had slimmed down slightly. He was less cute and more handsome, bearing a lot of resemblance to Bai Ruozhu.

Lady Meng, seeing Dengdeng, was absolutely delighted. She reached out to hold his hand and commented, ”This child is so cheerful, I’m sure he’ll be smart.”

Seeing her grandson being praised, Lin Pinger immediately warmed up to Lady Meng. After they exchanged greetings with Lady Meng, they excused themselves to visit Yu Hongxiu and promised to come back later to chat with Lady Meng.

Yu Hongxiu was looking much better, which made Lin Pinger breathe a sigh of relief. She smiled and said, ”Let Dengdeng bring you good luck. I guarantee you will have a big and sturdy boy.”

”She’s expecting twins. If both are boys, they’re certainly going to make a ruckus,” Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but think of a situation in her previous life when twins were born in the community. With such playful young boys, their mother definitely had her hands full. It required a number of the elderly to take turns helping out and every outing became a full-blown operation.

Yu Hongxiu couldn’t close her mouth from grinning, even if it meant having two naughty boys, she would be willing to endure the exhaustion.

Bai Ruozhu took Yu Hongxiu’s pulse, performed acupuncture to harmonize her Qi Blood and then gave her a mild massage. She said, ”I’ll insert the needles tomorrow. After that, you won’t need the acupuncture anymore. However, you should still be careful in the future as carrying twins is not the same as carrying a single baby. Also, you should prepare in advance as twins usually come earlier than expected.”

Yu Hongxiu nodded, she had also heard about this and had started to prepare the children’s necessary items in advance. She also began looking for a nurse in advance. Like Bai Ruozhu suggested, she also wanted to breastfeed, but looking at the current situation, she felt it was a bit too strenuous to feed two babies by herself.

After talking and giving advice to Yu Hongxiu, Bai Ruozhu and her mother let her rest and left the room.

They went back to see Lady Meng, and Bai Ruozhu asked about an update on Yu Hongxiu’s case.

”Lady Wang, who is the prime suspect, was already arrested, but she is denying any involvement and claiming her innocence. She insists that someone intentionally set her up.” Lady Meng said, her face turning cold. The audacity of someone to tamper with her guest in her own house was glaring.

”Furthermore, Lady Lu said that it was Lady Wang who proposed they went to the restroom. I believe there’s a high chance that Lady Wang is guilty. However, now that the maid is dead, there is no way to verify this. Also, Lady Wang has no clear motive so she might be released soon.” Lady Meng sighed.

Bai Ruozhu raised an eyebrow, ”No problem, now that we know she is a problem, even if the government cannot punish her, we can handle her privately.”

Lady Meng nodded, ”Exactly, I am not an obscurantist. Anyone who dares to mess with me, I won’t let them get away with it.”

Bai Ruozhu remembered that Lady Wang’s maternal home was linked to the Zhou family. She also planned to give the Zhou family a harsh lesson.

After sitting with her mother for a while, Bai Ruozhu bid Lady Meng goodbye, carrying Dengdeng, and returned home.

Bai Yihong called Bai Ruozhu when they returned home, saying, ”Ruozhu, come to the backyard with me to see if the vegetables are growing well.”

Bai Ruozhu handed Dengdeng over to her mother and followed her father to the backyard.

However, Bai Yihong didn’t show her any vegetables. He hesitated, seemingly unsure of how to start the conversation.

Bai Ruozhu found this peculiar but didn’t hurry her father. She patiently waited a while before her father finally said, ”Ruozhu, let’s not allow Xiaosi to learn martial arts anymore.”

”What? But why?” Bai Ruozhu did not expect her father to say something related to Xiaosi. She was completely taken aback.

”It’s just... I saw him practicing martial arts, and I felt... well, it didn’t sit well with me...” Bai Yihong stuttered.
