Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 402: Chapter 402: Sympathy for Ruolan, Wang Family Detoxifies

Doctor Li took the money with a cold huff, he ignored the old lady and turned to Bai Ruozhu, saying, ”Miss Ruozhu, I will come to town in a few days to learn your medical skills.”

Bai Ruozhu quickly responded politely, ”Doctor Li, you’re too kind. I also happen to have some aspects where I need your guidance.”

Doctor Li had already confirmed that Bai Ruozhu’s medical skills were superior to his, yet she was so modest and considerate of his face, which added a few points of admiration to his impression of her.

After Doctor Li left, the old lady coldly huffed, ”Who are you trying to put on a show for?”

Lin Ping’er was so angry she was almost out of breath. Did they come back to save people, only for the old lady to think Bai Ruozhu had messed up the rescue, and that Doctor Li’s testimony was just part of the act?

”Alright, we have other things to do and need to get back to town,” Lin Ping’er said with frustration. She’d known this would happen, she would have asked Ruozhu to save the person. But even though she was frustrated, thinking about Bai Ruolan’s current situation, she couldn’t bring herself to just leave her.

Bai Ruozhu had no desire to see the old lady again. The old lady was really too unreasonable for her age.

”Let’s go then, and later we’ll inform the Wang Family and ask them to send someone to check on Ruolan,” Bai Ruozhu said.

The old lady’s eyes flickered, she got down from the bed and stopped Bai Yihong, saying, ”Second child, you stay. If Ruolan goes mad at night, I can’t control her by myself as an old woman. Can you bear to see your mother frightened?”

Bai Yihong looked troubled. He glanced at the old lady, then at Lin Ping’er, and eventually, Lin Ping’er sighed helplessly, saying, ”Alright, it’ll be easier for you to start work in the fields in the morning too.”

Bai Ruozhu was about to speak, but then she thought of Bai Ruolan’s condition and held her tongue.

The family hurried back to the West Courtyard under the cover of night. Because they hadn’t eaten dinner, they were all starving. Fortunately, Guizhi had prepared hot food, and they immediately sat down to eat. During the meal, Bai Ruozhu provided a detailed update on Bai Ruolan’s condition.

”Should we send a message to the Wang Family tomorrow morning?” Lin Ping’er asked.

Bai Ruozhu thought about it and replied, ”I’ll go over later.” Bai Ruolan’s current state was pitiable and the old lady was unreliable, so Bai Ruozhu decided to ”wake up” Mother Wang, so that someone could take care of Bai Ruolan.

But if Mother Wang doesn’t learn her lesson, dares to have any ill intentions toward her family, or doesn’t care about her own daughter’s life, Bai Ruozhu is capable of returning her to this incontinent state.

”I’ll go with Ruozhu.” Bai Zehao quickly shoveled his food into his mouth and put down his bowl and chopsticks.

Bai Ruozhu handed the little Dengdeng over to Lin Ping’er, she gently touched his small neck, playing with him, ”Mom will be back soon, okay? You can’t be naughty.”

Dengdeng was ticklish, he laughed happily. The heaviness in the room was broken by his innocent laughter and everyone’s mood improved a bit.

After Bai Ruozhu and Bai Zehao left, Lin Ping’er murmured, ”It’s better to cling to life than to die. Perhaps with some care, she might get better.”

Wan Caiyue vigorously nodded her head, while Bai Zepei slightly furrowed his brows, showing no reaction.

Bai Ruozhu and Bai Zehao quickly arrived outside the Wang Family’s door. The antidote for the poison that Bai Ruozhu gave to Mother Wang was kept in the space, she could get it with a thought. With this spatial assistance, her poisoning skills can match any expert’s. At the very least, no one could find out how she hid the poison.

Bai Zehao knocked on the door, which was opened by the Wang Family’s daughter-in-law, Zhao E. Seeing them, she was somewhat surprised and a concerned look spread across her face.

”Has my mother-in-law done something again?” she asked cautiously.

”No, we need to see the Wang Family, something’s happened to Bai Ruolan,” said Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Zehao found it odd that his sister didn’t just leave after dropping a line; why did she specifically mention needing to see the Wangs? However, he did not think too much of it and assumed that Bai Ruozhu was simply wary of the Wang Family.

Zhao E was startled and quickly said, ”Then come in and discuss. What happened to Ruolan?”

Bai Ruozhu walked straight in, her voice cold as she said, ”She tried to hang herself.”

”What?” Zhao E’s voice suddenly rose, attracting the other members of the Wang Family from inside the house.

The Wang’s matriarch, upon seeing Bai Ruozhu and her sibling, exclaimed, ”What do you want? Why have you come to bother us again?”.

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t help but laugh, ”Hasn’t it always been you causing trouble for us? Why on earth would I deal with you if you were behaving yourselves?”

Before the Wang’s matriarch could respond, she was cut off by Zhao E, ”Mother, they have come to bring news. Ruolan tried to hang herself.”

The Wang Family all seemed shocked, but Bai Ruozhu took a careful look. Both the old lady and the old man of the Wang Family looked surprised, but they did not show much concern, demonstrating their lack of care for Bai Ruolan. This probably explains why Bai Ruolan did not seek their help.

”How is Ruolan doing? Was she saved?” asked Wang Xiujun.

”She was saved, but she was deprived of oxygen for a while. I’m afraid she might have brain damage; she doesn’t even recognize people anymore.” Bai Ruozhu said this delicately, not mentioning directly that Bai Ruolan might be mentally incapacitated.

”Where’s Wang? Call her out. After all, she is her biological mother,” Bai Ruozhu continued.

It was clear that the Wang matriarch didn’t want Bai Ruozhu to see Wang. Perhaps they thought Wang would be too embarrassed to show her face.

”My daughter has already divorced the Bai family. The child belongs to the Bai Family. You all have your grandfather, grandmother, uncles, and cousins. Why would the Wang Family need to worry?” said the Wang Matriarch.

The patriarch of the Wang Family agreed, ”Exactly, she doesn’t carry the Wang name anymore.”

Bai Ruozhu gave a scornful glance at the two annoying elders of the Wang Family, ignoring them and walked straight to a room.

The Wang Family was taken aback. How did Bai Ruozhu know that Wang was in that room? They rushed to stop her, but were intercepted by Bai Zehao.

Actually, as soon as Bai Ruozhu mentioned Wang, the Wang matriarch involuntarily glanced towards the room, the patriarch did the same. How could such movements escape Bai Ruozhu’s sharp eyes?

With a bang, Bai Ruozhu forcefully pushed the door open. An overwhelming smell of urine hit her nostrils, causing the following Wang Family members to grimace.

Bai Ruozhu wrinkled her nose. She was somewhat germaphobic, so she chose to stand at the door instead of entering the room. She called to Wang, who was in deep sleep on the bed, ”Wang, your daughter Bai Ruolan tried to hang herself. She nearly died. Do you care whether she lives or dies?”

As she yelled, she flicked her sleeve. It looked like a frustrated wave, but nobody knew that drug powder had silently spilled out.

Zhao E hurriedly came over and said, ”Miss Bai, it’s no use talking to Xiuxiang. She’s critically ill and her mind isn’t clear. Even a doctor can’t help.”

”What happened to Ruolan?” the voice suddenly came from the sickly Wang on the bed, sounding as if she had harshly slapped Zhao E in the face.
