Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 360: Chapter 360: Reluctantly Save Once

The people who were called in by the Wang family saw the chaos inside the Wang’s house and retreated for the time being. Naturally, the people from the Bai family were enjoying the spectacle.

Bai Ruozhu wasn’t afraid to go to the Public Hall. If she did, the Wang family would suffer. She hadn’t chosen to go to the Public Hall in the first place because she didn’t want to keep bothering Lord Li at the Government Office. The Public Hall wasn’t a vegetable market that you could just go to on a whim. However, if the Wang family insisted on suing her family, there was no other option.

Wang Xiujun was somewhat hesitant at the sight of Zhao’s firm gaze. He knew his wife made sense. If they took this matter to the Public Hall, it could lead to a round of severe beatings. He still remembered the taste of the twenty heavy beatings from last time.

A kind-hearted neighbour advised: ”Wang’s, why do you want to take this to the Public Hall? Your old man took a firewood knife to chop someone but ended up tripping over a broom and falling over. Your eldest daughter also threatened someone with a knife and got beaten up for it. If this was calculated, she would be charged with attempted murder. You don’t want to get yourselves into more trouble.”

”Exactly. It’s better to settle civil matters privately. Just apologize to them and do not mess with them in the future. Why are you happy when you stir things up in the Public Hall?” The one who spoke was the old man who had tried to mediate before. He now felt more strongly that the Wang family was causing trouble.

After hearing the neighbors’ advice, Wang Xiujun found a way out and carefully advised his mother: ”Mom, let’s listen to the old neighbors and not go to the Public Hall.”

The old lady of the Wang family was so angry that her lips trembled, and she pointed at Wang Xiujun and cursed: ”How could I have raised such a worthless son like you? You let other people walk all over your father and sister, aren’t you a coward? Why are you so afraid of the Bai family?”

Wang Xiujun is the older brother of Mrs. Wang, and he is of a good age now. He has children of his own, but they aren’t presently living at home. Being publicly scolded for being a coward by his mother was too humiliating, and it stirred up his anger.

”What do you mean by that, mom? ’The more problems, the worse’, I said it from the start, but you didn’t listen. Now we can’t live in peace because of all the commotion, is it necessary?” Wang Xiujun wanted to bring up the fact that opening the pastry stall was all work and no profit, they were losing money. Whose idea was it to make it cheaper than the Bai family by one or two cents?

But in the end, he didn’t say this out loud, he had to save some face for his mother.

Old Lady Wang became even angrier when she heard this, pointed at Wang Xiujun and scolded: ”What do you mean I’m making a fuss? Are we supposed to let people bully us for no reason?”

Wang Xiujun wanted to say that his younger sister was wrong in the first place and had offended others, but he didn’t dare to voice it. Instead, it was Zhao who said: ”Mother-in-law, this has gone too far. Do we want to live our lives or not? My sister-in-law was wrong in the first place. Even if she gets beaten in the Public Hall, it’s her own fault for lying to the Government Office. If we’re doing all of this out of spite against the Bai family, we’d be destroying our own lives for nothing, isn’t it?”

”Shut up, you unworthy woman. You’ve been stirring up my son against me. Our Wang family should divorce you!” Old Lady Wang glared and screamed with fury, her breath heavy and her chest heaving.

”You don’t need to divorce me. If living like this is the norm, then I’d rather leave of my own accord and save myself the trouble. The children shouldn’t suffer either.” Zhao let out a scoff when she heard this. Her mother-in-law was really stubborn. Thankfully, she had foreseen something was going to happen and had sent the children to her parent’s house a few days before, otherwise who knows what might have happened today.

Wang Xiujun was anxious when he heard this, and blurted out: ”Mom, I will not divorce my wife. We are living well, the children are already grown up. Why should I divorce her?”

”You, you...” Old Lady Wang glared at Wang Xiujun, her chest heaving even more violently. But before she could finish speaking, her eyes rolled back and she fell to the floor.

”Mom, what’s wrong with you?” Wang Xiujun rushed over in fright. Luckily a relative from the Wang family was able to help Old Lady Wang, or else she would have fallen flat on her back and hit her head, causing more harm.

Onlookers took in a sharp breath. Someone reacted quickly and shouted, ”It’s probably because she was so angry. Hurry up and press her ’renzhong’ acupuncture point!”

Wang Xiujun and Zhao rushed over, one holding her head and the other pressing the ’renzhong’ point. After a period of commotion, Old Lady Wang finally regained consciousness.

Bai Lu was watching from the side to see if Wang’s mother-in-law was really fainted. He signaled his family not to take any action, and Bai Ruozhu and others in the yard also stopped their destruction.

”Wow, the old lady’s mouth is not crooked anymore. It seems she has had a stroke, hurry up and find the doctor from Fushou Hall!” Someone from the side saw that when Old Lady Wang woke up, her mouth was slanted and drooling, and immediately began yelling.

Bai Ruozhu frowned slightly and took a few steps forward to get a better look at Old Lady Wang’s condition. It appeared to be the early signs of a stroke, rather than a bluff.

Bai Lu also couldn’t help but frown. While Old Lady Wang’s stroke had nothing to do with them, the fact that it happened while they were causing a commotion might not sound good if word got out.

Bai Ruozhu had the same thoughts as Bai Lu. Even though she greatly disliked this old woman, after some thought, she still said: ”Do not move her. I will reluctantly save her this once.”

The tone of her voice was very indifferent, as if what she was talking about was just an insignificant ant.

Wang Xiujun and Zhao looked at Bai Ruozhu in disbelief. Wang Xiujun blurted out, ”Can you cure her?” He even forgot to wonder whether she would harm his mother even if she could.

In the yard, Wang Youcai shouted, ”She wants to harm your mother! Don’t let her near your mom!”

Bai Ruozhu found it amusing and said, ”With your brains, you’re still trying to scheme against my family? Her stroke is retribution from the heavens. If I wanted to harm her, I would let her condition worsen. Why should I save her? Besides, in full view of the public, would I be stupid enough to harm someone?”

Zhao clenched her teeth and said to Wang Xiujun, ”Father, it might be too late to get the doctor now. Let her try to heal her. I heard in the Mountain Village that she can heal people and has even saved children from drowning. If she can cure her, we promise never to bother the Bai family again and even apologize to them, bowing our heads!”

Wang Xiujun was anxious to save his mother and didn’t care about bowing their heads or apologizing, as long as his mother could be saved, he could even regard Bai Ruozhu as a benefactor.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t bother arguing with them anymore and walked towards Old Lady Wang. The relatives of the Wang family who wanted to stop her were promptly reprimanded by Bai Lu.

Wang Youcai was still cursing in the yard, but Bai Ruozhu continued to approach Old Lady Wang as if she hadn’t heard him. She pulled out her silver needle and swiftly, like flowing water, began her needlework in front of everyone.

For a while everyone was silent, not just out of curiosity or worry for Old Lady Wang, but also captivated by the confidence and calmness emanating from the woman before them. Everyone watched her every move, even holding their breath every time she inserted a needle.

When Bai Ruozhu withdrew the silver needle, everyone regained their senses and someone with keen eyes shouted, ”Look, the old lady’s mouth is not slanted anymore!”

Dear friends, I can’t promise to update very early today because Mouka has to take her children to the Kindergarten to register for interviews, and I don’t know how much time it will take. The good part is that once my son starts kindergarten, I will have more time to write, hahaha~ The bad part is that we still have to wait until August or September for his enrollment, I feel depressed, please don’t mind~
